Hey folks. As of a couple weeks ago I'm officially in a band. So far were a three piece. I'm playing guitars and singing. My good friend plays bass and sings a bit too. Then another friend is on the drums. We're thinking of adding another guitarist so we can get a bit more diverse. So far we've played one open mic at a local bar/restaurant. WE go again tomorrow and it should be good. Right now we are only performing covers but are perfecting originals. I've been adapting songs that I wrote for this place for my band because for some reason when I write songs for Reported Failure everything goes smoothly as opposed to when i write them with myself in mind. We recorded a cover of the song 7 Nation Army. The guitar wasn't amped up enough, but otherwise I think it's pretty good. I'm singing in this one. Check it out. also we are called Silent Box

Thank you! I can't believe I didn't thank you for your comment until now haha. Anyway things are still going strong. We aren't getting legitimate gigs yet, but right now were focusing more on just getting better at playing and writing songs. We have about nine original songs that we can go out and play anytime, but only a few of them are songs I'm really proud of. I'll share a few of our songs here. This first one is our newest song that were very excited about. The guitar is very melodic and extremely fun for me to play. I didn't write the song and have honestly no idea what Eli (That's the name of the blonde kid who is singing and playing guitar) is saying due to his monotone singing voice and the mediocre sound quality of the recording. But I hope you like it. I'm playing the red guitar.
The rest of the songs that I'm proud of aren't on youtube yet, but they will be soon so I'll share them. You can check out the other videos if you want, but vocally I'm not proud of my work on the Seven Nation Army cover and my guitar playing though dynamic is sloppy. The other original song that is up is just a song I wrote for Reported Failure that we tried playing one day and both the drummer and bassist liked it, but since I didn't really write it to be played it isn't the best songwriting and the music lacks energy. The other video is a cover of the song Wagon Wheel. The video is ok, but we kill with that song whenever we play it live. |

This is the song I'm really stoked about. I wrote it and am singing it. It is about people who are assholes and sort of giving them the finger. The guitar solo in this verdsion is a bit sloppy compared to what I can do, but I think you'll enjoy it.

I've got an update for you. Tonight was the first night I really felt like I was in a legitimate band. First we wnt to the biggest open mic within 30 minutes drive and it was fantastic. We only got to play two songs though and they let us play six last time. So afterwards we wan outside and played on the street. I altered lyrics so I could talk to people while singing. Then we sat in the back and joked around. By the end of the night we were offered to tryout to be the backup band for this guy who lives nearby and has a record deal. I don't think any of the other guys will do it, but I probably will try if it pays well and the timing would work out. It isn't for my band, but it is a potential job playing music which is all I really want from life.
Videos possibly coming soon. |

Things have been very slow with the band lately, but I'm not stopping. Thanks to technology I was able to make a decent recording without leaving the house or spending more than a few dollars. I recorded both guitars and the vocals separately over the course of a few days and then mixed it all the best I could.

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. The songs I do by myself are much more acoustic, and because they are acoustic the vocals can be heard a lot more and everything is just smoother. I have another song that I am going to start working on recording tonight. It is probably some of my best lyrical work as is the song posted above. |

I recorded a cover today of Fall Out Boy's song Golden. The timing in the beginning is a bit awkward, but I think I make it work in the end. Probably the best vocally from me that any of you will have heard as of now. Another original song coming as soon as I settle on an arrangement and get down to recording. Any feedback is welcomed.

This is still going on! I have a long weekend so I might get the chance to finish recording a song I wrote a couple of months ago. I just have to do vocals and then maybe add some more guitar undertones or backing vocals if it is deemed to be needed. I might get a chance to do a cover too. But I was wondering if anyone knew the best recording equipment I can get without having to sell everything I own? it would be great to have something with better quality than my ipod. |

Haha thanks. I'm glad you both liked it. Mebeme, that probably will come with more experience. I have three years of playing practically every day under my belt. And don't worry, I dont see that happening just yet, but if it did you would all get kudos for helping to push me to write songs. |

Something new! Going to add drums and bass and then put it on youtube. I'm using soundcloud for unfinished things that I need to share. I have to show the guy who is going to do the drums, but thought you might enjoy. http://soundcloud.com/keatonmusic1/nothere |

Still just doing covers. I have some of my own material but most of it isnt ready. I lack high quality recording equipment and with my own songs am quite a perfectionist. The result is that I currently dont have any of my own songs to share. But I have another cover to share.

This I wrote. Some of the lyrics actually came from a song I wrote for Reported Failure but its just one line.
