Introducing Poison Control, one of the hottest new bands this side of Ontario. They formed earlier this year when Drummer Geoff Harvey met guitarist Stu Koelbel and singer Jim Foxman at a bar in Chatham, Ontario, Canada. Together, the three wrote and produced under the name Scapegoat until new guitarist Dane Byers was brought into the band. Harvey had bailed Byers out of the slammer a week earlier. The idea for the name Poison Control came about when guitarist Koelbel and drummer Harvey were hanging out with future bassist Cate Ellis in her apartment. Stu went to the fridge to get a beer and on the fridge door it had a list of emergency phone numbers. Y'know, 911, The Fuzz, close relatives. But one of the numbers on there said "Poison Control." And so the band was named. On that same day, Ellis was asked by Geoff and Stu to be in the band.
Though Jim Foxman remains the lead singer, Byers writes the songs. He says he's "always been more of a songwriter, but definitely not a singer. And Fox [Foxman] is really good at putting my lyrics to words and giving them style."
Members:
Jim Foxman (Lead Vocals): the cocky lead singer. He insisted on having his name first in the list.
Stuart Koelbel (Lead Guitar): Just call him "Canada." If you thought YOU were a hockey fan, you haven't met Canada!
Geoff Harvey (Drums): The band's amiable drummer who means well but always says the wrong things. To people, chicks, the cops, everybody.
Dane Byers (Rhythm Guitar): The badass criminal of the group. He's been arrested so many times that he's on a first-name basis with the whole Toronto PD. Often drunk and usually the voice of reason.
Cate Ellis (Bass): The shy, hot girl who holds the band together.
Quotes"As long as the spirit of rock and roll is in my blood, nothing can get me down,"
-Dane Byers on music.
