OOC: After my long rant in the RP discussion section I decided to do an RP that is basically a full day with Reported Failure on the No Venues Tour. I'm not really sure what I'll have happen besides the part at the show, but I hope you enjoy this first part which is basically Reported Failure getting to the airport.
6:30 Am - January 3rd
A plane from Australia has just landed on the runway in Wellington, New Zealand. On the plane about halfway down KC sits next to Vin, Robert and Billie are both behind them, and Matt is further back next to a seventy something year old woman. The woman stares interested at Matt's tattoos. "That one?" she said pointing to what was either a very whimpy lion or a ferocious kitten. The woman had been questioning Matt for most of the flight. Matt laughed to himself. "I honestly don't remember. I was completely wasted when I decided to get that one. Too bad too because it is right on my arm for everyone to see. I'm not sure what it is besides a cat of some sort." replied Matt. The woman scowled at him. Matt turned to where the rest of his band was for help, but they were all distracted. Matt was stuck explaining everything about himself to a total stranger which he wouldn't have minded normally, but this time the stranger gave off the vibe that she absolutely despised Matt.
Meanwhile the rest of Reported Failure were preparing to exit the plane. Billie took off his headphones and yawned. "First thing w're doing once we get out of this airport is finding some coffee" he said to Robert. Robert nodded in agreement and then got their bags out from the overhead compartment. Ahead of them KC was nudging Vin. "Vin! Wake up damnit!" he said, probably a bit too loud because right after he said it a few people turned and scowled at him. He punched Vin in the arm and finally Vin shook himself awake. "We've landed" said KC. Vin was one of those people who could get himself fully awake and ready to get things done after sleeping heavily in a matter of seconds. He got up a bit to fast though and hit his head. Vin cursed under his breat before shaking it off and getting all of his things together.
Now off of the plane, KC, Billie, Robert, and Vin waited for Matt. All of the sudden the sound of Beethoven came out of nowhere. Vin said, "That's me". He picked up his phone, looked to see who was calling and then answered. "Hey. What's going on?" he asked. There was a pause. The other three looked at each other. Robert sighed and then slouched down in a chair. "Well how many vinyls do you think kids will buy? I think we have a good amount." continued Vin. "It must be someone at Nomad" said Billie. Just then Matt showed up looking rather worn out. "Let's get our bags and then go on a coffee run" he said as if it was the most important thing in the world to him. "Yeah. I get what you're saying" continued Vin, "Send me an email or something. We just landed so I'll get back to you a bit later". Billie looked curiously at Vin. "That was Max. They are talking about having more vinyls pressed" said Vin. Billie nodded in understanding. He didn't deal with the business side of things though, and neither did anyone else really besides Vin so none of them commented except Matt who said "I like buying vinyls. The artwork is all big and the records are shiny".
The five of them went to get their baggage which wasn't much. Most of their luggage was with all of their gear which had been on a separate flight. "So, I think someone mentioned coffee?" said KC, but Matt was already leading the way. "I've no idea when or where were meeting our ride to the hotel, but I found the starbucks" he said. KC laughed and the five of them walked towards the starbucks to get some much needed coffee after international hangover day. |

All freshened up on caffeine, Reported Failure now found themselves sitting in a van driving through Wellington. In the drivers seat was a tall blonde haired man who looked like he just crawled out of a cologne ad. His name was Todd and he was the director who would be directing the video for Reported Failure's singe Crumbling, and shooting began that day. He was also in charge of getting the band from one point to another while they were in New Zealand. "Thanks for picking us up, Todd" said Robert to the blonde man who evidently was named Todd. "So Todd, we haven't talked since we did the music video for Testimony way back in the day. Still having sex with a bunch of babes every night?" asked Matt. Vin looked at Matt and rolled his eyes. Robert and Billie looked apologetically at Todd, and KC tried to hide the fact that he was laughing. Todd replied, "Still married". "I know that" said Matt, "But let me put it this way: We'd be the biggest band in the world right now if we all looked like you." Todd laughed coolly and just kept driving.
For a few minutes they sat in silence watching the city go by. Finally Billie broke the silence, "So what is the plan for today?". "Oh were going to the hotel to drop off your luggage and then we have a helicopter to take us to the set and then you're back here and my job is done for a few days" said Todd patiently. "Wellington has big shoes to fill. Those Australians know how to celebrate the new year" said Robert, laughing. "I thought we were going to have to stop playing." said Vin, "drunk Australians mosh like a concert is a hockey match except none of them have any padding at all and they are all massive rivals." Matt added, "I expected everyone to be hung over on the first but the crowd was still fuckin' great!".
The van pulled in to the parking lot of a Best Western and they all got out. "I'll go check you in" said Todd and he left. Matt waited until Todd was inside and then he said out loud, "That guy is cheating on his wife. I mean come on, how is he not be?". "As long as he makes this video incredible he can cheat on whoever he wants" said Vin. He continued, "Lets get this stuff inside. Our day is packed."
The five of them walked inside carrying all of their belongings. Todd was walking towards them with two envelopes. "We've got two rooms. So you can decide among yourselves who gets what room. Meet me back down here in ten minutes so we can get going" he said. Vin, KC, and Robert were the first to have at the room keys. "Three for room 217, well we'll see you two later" said KC and they went upstairs. Matt and Billie both grabbed a room key and realized at the same time the room number. It was room 218. Neither of them said anything about it, but they knew that the other one had to be remembering that night back in September when they had been in room 218 in a different hotel. Billie said, "Well thats... That's just a number. No big deal." But his tone spoke for himself. He was remembering everything that had happened that september night, and so was Matt. |
