Bio CrushCrushCrush! is a British pop-punk rock band hailing from London, England, formed in late December 2011 by former Big Light Show singer Lauren England. The band consists of England (lead vocals), Jason Roberts (drums), brothers Aaron and Kieran Simpson (guitars), and Ron Heaslip (bass). All five members of the band are former class mates at music college in the London School of Performing Arts. The Simpson brothers were also guitar technicians for Big Light Show when they toured the USA on a number of occasions. CrushCrushCrush! are a band living without pretence. They won't try to be something they're not, and draw their influence from other rock and pop-punk bands, playing happy, punchy, bubbly guitar based music that they love playing. They site their biggest influences in the industry as Paramore, Riot! In the Boulevard, PANIC! and Misery Loves Company, as well as the likes of Reported Failure.
The Early Years
Without doubt, the biggest moment seen in the career of CrushCrushCrush! to date has been their assault on Twitter which won them an unprecedented massive number of fans through a series of flash mobs and gatherings around the city of London. These followed various meetings between England and various band members. At first, they admit, it was a publicity stunt to see how many people they could get to react. It was only when they saw the magnitude of the reaction that they decided they would take the band seriously.
Formation and debut
After seeing the size of the crowds which gathered in response to her calls for flash mobs to assemble in London, Lauren England decided to form a new band. She had previously been the lead singer of Big Light Show, a band which had battled and battled but ultimately failed to be noticed in the big bad industry, and disbanded midway through 2011. England decided this time to hire some of her music college buddies to be a part of her new project, and brought some of the brightest talent she's come across on board. Deciding quickly on a genre they all loved to listen to and play, the band named themselves after Lauren England's favourite Paramore track.
Their first performance as a group came at London Koko on the 30th of December 2011, when their flash mob PR stunt came to a head, with thousands of people descending on the venue to see the much hyped band debut. That night saw them premiere their debut single, "When I See You Cry", which they later released for free as a download from their website.
2012, says Lauren England, is all about having fun, and getting the name CrushCrushCrush! on everyone's lips. Edited by user 04 January 2012 07:08:58(UTC)
