“Come Back Home Someday” is a song by American recording artist Luke Striker. It was written in January 2012 by Luke Striker and produced by Lucile Jackson and Danny Allen. The song was inspired by a photo of a lonely man sat alone on a park bench holding a rose, the image later became used as the cover for the single. Written at the beginning of 2012 by Luke Striker, the song came at a time when he thought about giving up on becoming a professional musician, he claims, “It was a tough time for me, I’ve always loved writing but for the life of me I just couldn’t write something with any sort of real depth, I was writing a lot but everything I was writing was basic and uninteresting, I didn’t wanna put out an album with ten or eleven pop songs that have been done over and over again.” Musically it’s a slow paced rock song that tells the story of a lonely man that has lost the love of his life and now that he’s lost her, he realises his mistakes and how he never showed his true feelings. Now that she’s gone he just wishes that she’d come back to him and give him a second chance to make things right.

“Come Back Home Someday” is the second official single by Luke Striker, it follows up from his debut single which failed to chart back in May 2011, it’s set to be released independently on January 22, 2012 as a promo single in an attempt for Luke to gain momentum as he begins looking for a record deal and working on his long awaited debut album.

Writing & Inspiration
“It’s been a long time since I released my debut single in May last year, I had to take some time out in the summer to head back home and take care of family issue’s and so that kinda put a hold on my music, I headed back out to Los Angeles around September and spent time working on my music but it was a long and frustrating time attempting to write material for my debut album. It was a tough time for me, I’ve always loved writing but for the life of me I just couldn’t write something with any sort of real depth, I was writing a lot but everything I was writing was basic and uninteresting, I didn’t wanna put out an album with ten or eleven pop songs that have been done over and over again.

I wanted to find my voice and something worth writing instead of doing the same basic pop songs that people have heard time and time again but I wasn’t getting anywhere with it and I saw my friends all doing these great things with their music, it was group of friends that started out at the same time as me and it was great to see how they were always moving forward with new singles, debut albums, tours, performances on TV and all of that sort of things, I was really proud of them for what they were doing but at the same time it was kinda difficult because I knew I was falling way behind and maybe subconsciously it was a weight on my shoulders and perhaps it was too much pressure to be under when trying to write songs, but nothing I wrote was of a good enough level for a real long time.

In January I decided that I’d make one final attempt at working on my music and it was when I was looking for inspiration when I saw that photograph, it was just a simple image of a guy sitting on a park bench alone, with a flower in his hand and there was space next to him where I imagined the woman once was and I just started to write, regularly looking at the image in attempt to somehow create a song that was exactly what I had been looking to create for the past four or five months and It was written pretty quickly, once I finished writing the song I sort of read it back to myself and thought, ‘this is what I’ve been trying to write, this is exactly the type of song that I wanna record and be known for and so I found myself inspired once more, just by one solitary photograph that happened to dig out some sort of feeling within me.”

Background & Recording
Luke initially recorded “Come Back Home Someday” at his home in LA on his computer in order to get a feel for the song and it’s structures and melodies before deciding to head into a recording studio at The Village Studio’s in Los Angeles, California, the song was recorded on 11th January 2012 only days after finishing writing the song. He enlisted the help of producers, Lucile Jackson and Danny Allen to oversee the production and mixing of the song and called on a couple of local musicians Felix Hawkins and Jamie Donovan to join him in the studio to play bass and drums on the track.
The song is a slow paced track which puts emphasis on the vocals and acoustic guitar played by Luke, his vocals are soft and soulful throughout but increases in volume at the chorus as the music slowly builds up prior to the chorus, creating a more powerful emotional feel to the song and despite the majority of the song being soft and acoustic, the ending to the song is met with powerful drum beats and more of a rock ballad vocal from Luke, it doesn’t fade out but stops abruptly instead.
