Katie: Self interview with Katie Coyle - Katie: Hi Katie, who would you say is your favourite pop star ever? Katie: Well Katie, I think if I had to choose, there would be no doubt at all that my favourite pop star ever ever is Vanity. She shows such strength to bounce back from adversity, she promotes a message of willpower and believing in yourself, and above all, she makes some of the best songs in the history of music. Katie: Thanks Katie, back to the studio, Katie?

Sorrry Vanity, I'm a bit hyper. Another song that I absolutely loved, and this album will be on repeat on my iPod for at least the next few months when I get my hands on it, no doubt. You are fabulous, and you always have been :)

Vanity: Katie, this is coming from a girl who has in the past worn Kermit the Frog all over her body, but you're fucking INSANE. Hahah, thank you so much, darling! This is indeed an album to show that you can overcome any of your demons and once again find joy in your life, it was very therapeutic to make. I really didn't expect you to like this type of music, but it's a very nice surprise indeed. I really do hope you enjoy the album!!

Erich: vanity just makes the world better, like a finely tuned whoopee cushion. Yet,she is essential, like oxygen. If this is what she creates without a man in her life,I hope she is single forever.

Erica: if she wants to play in the kitten field, she knows where to find me.

Nina: Erica!

Erica: what? She knows I'm just playing around.

Nina: um,last time you "just played around."...you got married.

Erica: oh shit! Ok, I REALLY am just playing around!

Song: Beating Heart
Album: The Sound of Living
Writer(s): Vanity
Genre: Pop, electro-pop, house, progressive house
Label: North Hill Records

Vanity's empowering lyrics and euphoric sound combine together for yet another dancefloor smash for track three on the album, "Beating Heart". After having her death faked by ex-manager Steven Bryans, it's almost humorous that nearly two years on, she's singing about beating hearts and breathing lungs. But Vanity is more than alive on this track in particular, a song that showcases her unique vocals on the simplistic beat during the verses, especially the ballad-like first verse that gradually builds in sound, before the song explodes into its chorus which will go down a storm in clubs around the world.

Starting the song with a stripped back version of the chorus, Vanity powerfully sings before moving into a relaxed first verse with not much musical backing, soon exploding into a thumping dancefloor anthem by the time the chorus comes back again. "We're youthful and we're gonna thrive / And our spirits never die, we'll forever be alive," she passionately sings in the second verse, continuing the song's message of both valuing and appreciating life, as Vanity calls it herself, her "hippie song".

"I've said previously that this album is almost hippie in a way, and I think this song could definitely be described as that, because it's all about loving life and appreciating it. We always hear that we should live every day as if it were our last, so I really wanted to take that message and run with it in this song to the extreme. I think there's a lot of things we can all be grateful for, and writing this song helped me to appreciate a lot of the things that I may have not done before, things as simple as good health. Hopefully this song is not only one people can have fun to, but one that makes them appreciate what they have."

"Beating Heart"

SOUNDS LIKE:

Cause I love the sound of your beating...
Your beating, beating, beating heart
And I love the sound of your breathing...
Your breathing, breathing, breathing lungs
Let's celebrate being alive
Like it's our last day to survive
So let's live in the now, forget about the past
And make the most of our beating hearts

Your delicate bones move to the unknown
While you're dancing like you're all alone
I can feel the rhythm in my veins
And I can feel it vibrating away the pain
I'm addicted to the feeling of living
And the life that this beat just keeps on giving

Cause I love the sound of your beating...
Your beating, beating, beating heart
And I love the sound of your breathing...
Your breathing, breathing, breathing lungs
Let's celebrate being alive
Like it's our last day to survive
So let's live in the now, forget about the past
And make the most of our beating hearts

I love to hear you exhale and inhale
Just like... *breathing sounds*
We're living tonight like it's the moment before we die
We're living tonight as if we're forever on a high
Spread your wings, and let's fly up, up, up to the sky
No tears, no sadness, no more saying goodbye
We're youthful and we're gonna thrive
And our spirits never die, we'll forever be alive

Cause I love the sound of your beating...
Your beating, beating, beating heart
And I love the sound of your breathing...
Your breathing, breathing, breathing lungs
Let's celebrate being alive
Like it's our last day to survive
So let's live in the now, forget about the past
And make the most of our beating hearts

We're dancing to the sound of living
Drinking and singing, drinking and singing
In an ocean of dreams where we keep on swimming
Cause this life is eternal, don't ever slow me down
We're in an ocean of dreams where we never drown

Cause I love the sound of your beating...
Your beating, beating, beating heart
And I love the sound of your breathing...
Your breathing, breathing, breathing lungs
Let's celebrate being alive
Like it's our last day to survive
So let's live in the now, forget about the past
And make the most of our beating hearts

Song: The Unknown
Album: The Sound of Living
Writer(s): Vanity
Genre: Pop, electro-pop, house, progressive house
Label: North Hill Records

Track four on the album is "The Unknown", a track that Vanity says she wrote at a special time in her life, late last year. Featuring soft, airy vocals from Vanity over a pulsing electronic beat, her voice sounds a lot lighter and more gentle compared to other moments on the record, where she puts her vocals to good use. Instead, her voice is almost chilling as she sings in almost whispers, her vocals layered to give a little more strength to them over the building synths that strike hardest in the chorus. It's one of the more diverse songs on the album in terms of the lyrics and Vanity's vocal delivery, but it's not too distant from the rest to stick out like a sore thumb, sticking with the uptempo electronic/house inspired sound on the majority of the album.

"The Unknown" serves as a lyrically unique moment on the album; which Vanity desribes is a song about a supernatural experience that she had late last year. "Like a mother that seems so unfamiliar / Bringing warmth in the coldest winter," she sings softly in the opening verse, before moving to "Pull me in and chill my bones / I'm not afraid of the unknown" in the chorus. The lyrics show that although Vanity isn't quite sure on what she came into contact with, she most definitely isn't afraid of what she experienced, and felt driven to write a song about it.

"People will think I'm fucking crazy for writing a song about my supernatural experience and will just think I've been smoking too much weed or whatever, but I'm glad to say I experienced it. I had a low moment late last year which was really slowing down the creation of this album, and I really do believe I came into contact with some sort of angel, perhaps my guardian angel. It was really early morning in November and I had just woken up strangely from my sleep, it was still dark outside, and I looked beside me to see this strange, but relaxing white light almost glowing in front of me. It was almost like a drug that was sending peace through my whole body, and the day after that strange happening, I was like a new woman. Thank fuck for whoever that was, because it helped me to make this album."

"The Unknown"

SOUNDS LIKE:

All these tears I've been crying
They wash away all my sins
And all the times I've been hurting
You wash the scars off my skin
Like a mother that seems so unfamiliar
Bringing warmth in the coldest winter
Somehow, I know that I'm not alone
But I'm not afraid of the unknown

Oh, I see nobody
But I can feel your hands around me
Rock me in your arms till I stop crying
Be the air beneath my wings to get me flying
Oh, I'm in love with something so unusual
Nothing in sight, but you're still so beautiful

And when I'm out in the dark, you're always there
Like a guardian angel, I feel your presence everywhere
Pull me in and chill my bones
I'm not afraid of the unknown
Push me from behind, be the lights to guide me home
Be that comforting voice on the other end of the phone
Somehow, I know that I'm not alone
But I'm not afraid of the unknown

All the wasted times of praying
And all the wasted words I've been saying
That I need love and guidance
Cause these days, I've been feeling so lifeless
Like I've been six feet under fifty years too early
Surely I haven't already ended my journey
Then I see you shine down your light
And run towards the bright white

All this pain that I've kept inside
All the secrets that I've tried to hide
It's all been building up, building up
Oh, I've kept it bottled up, bottled up
All the aching and all the hurting
And memories of everything disturbing
It's all been building up, building up
Oh, I've kept it bottled up, bottled up
But you're the one that makes it all disappear
Push away this cloud of doubt and make me see clear

And when I'm out in the dark, you're always there
Like a guardian angel, I feel your presence everywhere
Pull me in and chill my bones
I'm not afraid of the unknown
Push me from behind, be the lights to guide me home
Be that comforting voice on the other end of the phone
Somehow, I know that I'm not alone
But I'm not afraid of the unknown

Song: Life
Album: The Sound of Living
Writer(s): Vanity
Genre: Pop, electro-pop, house, progressive house
Label: North Hill Records

"Life" is track six on The Sound of Living, and is a little different sonically to the other tracks on the record. Putting a slight alternative spin on the regular dance sound that the other songs have, replacing more of the computerised sounds for a kick drum opening with swirling guitars. Despite that, it's just as melodic and catchy as anything else on the album, still keeping a light-hearted and feel-good feel to its beat. Vanity's voice is strong and fearless while she sings the lyrics that she describes are the "most personal on the entire record". If there's one song to show that Vanity has a more impressive vocal range than most in her genre, this is the song to go to, as she most certainly puts it to use in the track's chorus.

Despite the uplifting beat that the track possesses, the lyrics aren't as positive in comparison, as Vanity sings about being a young girl, sheltered from life and feeling forced into religion. "I'm longing for a freedom that you won't give / I'm longing for a life that you won't let me live," she sings boldly in the song's chorus, explaining her feelings of being overprotected as a child, as well as being surrounded by close-minded people in her family, shown in the lyrics "A narrow mind is all that I was ever given". She follows the line with "But there's a rebellious heart deep down inside / Punish me for setting it free, but I'm letting it come alive," explaining her breaking free and living life how she chooses.

"'Life' is a really important song to me, that I've been wanting to write for many years, but I didn't know how to put it across. I grew up in a Catholic household, and all of my family are Catholic, so I was definitely forced into that as a young girl, before I grew up and realised that it wasn't what I wanted. I just had zero interest for it, and my passion and love was in music and the stage, but my aunts and uncles would disapprove and tell me I was silly. I would just do anything to prove them wrong, be a part of musicals and other theatre productions, play in small clubs for pretty much nothing, even just go busking to show my love for it was real. Needless to say, it all paid off in the end and I have a very supportive family now, and I'm very proud of how the song came out."

"Life"

SOUNDS LIKE:

School-girl ribbons in my hair, a pair of innocent eyes
And a heart that's never been hurt or broken before
Don't be the first to do it, baby, don't make me see
All the bad people in this world that are out to get me
A clean mind, a virgin mouth, and an untainted body
I'm dressing in all white to please the Lord above

And I never dared to sin, skin for my eyes only
Lips only for speaking, hands only to pray
But there's a rebellious heart deep down inside
Punish me for setting it free, but I'm letting it come alive
Never dared to speak out, didn't ever question religion
A narrow mind is all that I was ever given
But there's a rebellious heart deep down inside
Punish me for setting it free, but I'm letting it come alive

Let me out of my cage, this girl's gonna rage
Put the spotlight on me when I'm center stage
Cause I'm on fire, so unleash me from this shell
Break the walls, cause I'm trapped in my own hell
I'm longing for a freedom that you won't give
I'm longing for a life that you won't let me live

The weakest always wanna battle with the strongest
Little girl searching for the wolf in a lonely forest
Just for a chance to prove to herself
That she stands taller than all the rest
Oh, let her be the fearless heart that rests deep inside
Cause she doesn't wanna have to hide

And I never dared to question, what if it's all a lie?
And what really happens to us all when it's time to die?
Forgive me for having a mind, but I confess
That there's a free spirit that I possess
This ain't what I want from life, so let me live
I promise, I've got so much more to give
Forgive me for having a mind, but I confess
That there's a free spirit that I possess

Let me out of my cage, this girl's gonna rage
Put the spotlight on me when I'm center stage
Cause I'm on fire, so break me from this shell
Break the walls, cause I'm trapped in my own hell
I'm longing for a freedom that you won't give
I'm longing for a life that you won't let me live

You treat me like I'm so fragile
Sheltering me from a life that I never knew existed
And you treat me like I'm so weak
Protecting me from pain that I've never once felt
I'm knocking on the door, let me out into the big bad world
I'm pleading just for a chance to live my own life

Let me out of my cage, this girl's gonna rage
Put the spotlight on me when I'm center stage
Cause I'm on fire, so break me from this shell
Break the walls, cause I'm trapped in my own hell
I'm longing for a freedom that you won't give
I'm longing for a life that you won't let me live

Song: Animalistic
Album: The Sound of Living
Writer(s): Vanity
Genre: Pop, electro-pop, house, progressive house
Label: North Hill Records

Track seven on Vanity's album is "Animalistic", a cold, sinister sounding electronic track that takes on a more darker sound compared to the rest of the record, which is mostly uplifting, joyful dance and house music. Vanity presents the lyrics in a spoken, almost whispered voice which is distorted, still managing to sound sensual and enticing, with a slightly bored tone to her voice, but in a way that perfectly suits the song. With its disturbing, bass-heavy beat, it can be hard to understand what Vanity is saying at times over the music as she mutters the lyrics carelessly. However, it adds a sense of mystery to the song, and sonically provides a bit of variety on the record, which fans of her last album Good Mourning will appreciate.

Despite the dark sound to the song, Vanity makes sure to stray away from depressing lyrics this time round, and has instead opted for a more raunchy track. Of course, the lyrics leave little to the imagination, but Vanity has made sure to write a song about sex which pushes enough boundaries, but strays away from being too crude or inappropriate. "You'd eat my heart if you got the chance / And you'd turn me to stone with a single glance" she says in an almost whispered voice in the chorus, following it with "Come and pin me down, don't mess around / We're two animals about to get loud". Perhaps Vanity is referring to an emotionally cold, but dominant lover that she seems to keep running back to, claiming that she wants to be loved like "an animal".

"I didn't want every track on the album to be about the same thing, so I see songs like these as real standouts on The Sound of Living, purely because this one in particular has a darker sound to the rest of the album. Although I didn't really want any lyrics that were depressing on the album, I had this dark, electronic beat that was sitting in my files for a while as I was waiting to see what lyrics I could perfectly match it with, so I wrote a more sexy track which you now all know as "Animalistic", and the moment I heard the final thing, I knew I had done my job. It's one of the more carefree songs on the album, mainly because I didn't have to think too hard whilst writing it, I knew what I wanted to write and being quite dirty minded, writing such songs really comes easy to me!"

"Animalistic"

SOUNDS LIKE:

Like an a-a-animal, love me like an...
(A-a-animal)
Like an a-a-animal, love me like an...
(A-a-animal)

Baby, don't you wanna bite on this meat?
A sight so pretty, and I'm feeling like a cat in heat
Don't you wanna come and rip me to shreds?
But do it in the most loving way possible, take me to bed
I'm loving the smell on your breath, all those cigarettes
Just an hour or two, come and try to make me forget
How you're a dirty dog, a little liar
But we can't kill the attraction and this burning desire

I've got the goods, you're the wolf in the woods
I'm fresh meat, slowly drowning in the deep
You'd eat my heart if you got the chance
And you'd turn me to stone with a single glance
Come and pin me down, don't mess around
We're two animals about to get loud
Our love's animalistic, so sadistic
Bite me, come and fight me
We're animalistic, yeah, so animalistic

Dig your claws into my hands and pin me down
Baby, promise you won't mess around
Come and claim me as your own, love me down to the bone
Be the predator and make it known
Put me on a leash, I'll be yours to keep
In this world, dirty love don't come cheap
But I'm the type to give it for free, it's all on display
If you're man enough, step up and don't run away
Just throw me down and let's get it on
Cause it's so much more fun when it's so, so wrong

Like an a-a-animal, love me like an...
(A-a-animal)
Like an a-a-animal, love me like an...

I've got the goods, you're the wolf in the woods

Song: Lonely
Album: The Sound of Living
Writer(s): Vanity
Genre: Pop, electro-pop, house, progressive house
Label: North Hill Records

Coming towards the end of The Sound of Living is track nine "Lonely", a full-on synth-pop track with a slightly innocent, playful sound to it. However, the song still packs a beat that once again seems to almost overpower Vanity's vocals, as they almost drown into the background behind the music. Although it's intentional, as Vanity clearly wants the music of this record to stand out and be the focus point of the album. Vanity seems to hold her range back a little whilst singing as she lets the lyrics make the most impact, a sweet, seductive tone to her voice as her gentle vocals move across the track.

Lyrically, Vanity's "Lonely" can easily be compared to track seven, "Animalistic" for its sexual nature. However, Vanity is less upfront about it this time round and instead decides to focus on the feeling of loneliness and her longing for a lover. But it comes as no surprise, as Vanity recently revealed in an interview with Oprah that she has never had a boyfriend throughout her entire music career. She opens the song suggestively with a seductive tone to her voice, "There's no king in the kingdom", a sexual innuendo that follows with a similar subject in the first line of the second verse, "A queen needs a king in her land".

"I think there couldn't have been a more perfect time for me in my life to write a song like this, so I'm glad I did it when I had the urge to. Being at my age and having all this experience in this industry, you really start to think about what's missing in your life, and how it could be improved, and I guess that's what led me to writing this song. It's not a sad or depressing song, it's just about my unfulfilled wishes that I hope will one day be fulfilled. It's an open, honest song about what I want, and I don't hold back on the subject, I want love, I want a man, I want sex. For all the lonely hearts out there, you're welcome!"

"Lonely"

SOUNDS LIKE:

There's no king in the kingdom
But I'm still feeling no freedom
Throwing on the leather
Without a source of pleasure
But I wanna get together
Cause I'm starting to feel a lack of fire
Due to all these unfulfilled desires

I've got this building desperation
Let me dig my claws into a temporary possession
Just let me take out all this frustration
Cause you know what I want
And you got what I need
So come and give it to me

Lonely dreams of love, lonely dreams of sex
Lonely nights of perfume and a fancy dress
Drinking cheap wine without a man to impress
Sleeping in a bed with a cold other half
Dreaming of all the men in the past
Wishing one of them would last

Cause I'm tired of feeling lonely
And I just want you to hold me
Oh, I'm tired of feeling lonely
And I just want you to hold me

A queen needs a king in her land
Cause there's little power in a single hand
Men and women, we're all the same
We all want it, and there's no shame
So if you've got it, here's the invitation
Don't leave me drowning in anticipation

I've got this building desperation
Let me dig my claws into a temporary possession
Just let me take out all this frustration
Cause you know what I want
And you got what I need
So come and give it to me

Lonely dreams of love, lonely dreams of sex
Lonely nights of perfume and a fancy dress
Drinking cheap wine without a man to impress
Sleeping in a bed with a cold other half
Dreaming of all the men in the past
Wishing one of them would last

Cause I'm tired of feeling lonely
And I just want you to hold me
Oh, I'm tired of feeling lonely

And I just want you to hold me

Song: Neon Lights
Album: The Sound of Living
Writer(s): Vanity
Genre: Pop, electro-pop, house, progressive house
Label: North Hill Records

Second from last on the record is "Neon Lights", one of the more upbeat and fun songs on the record that really defines what Vanity was trying to go for on The Sound of Living, feel good music with uplifting lyrics. With a 90s-esque house-inspired dance beat, the song has a slight classic club feel to it as Vanity's vocals soar over the track, sounding powerful over the catchy chorus where the music is strongest, whilst more subtle in the verses. The music fades out for the middle-eight and only Vanity's voice is heard the first time, before she repeats it where the music starts to build again. With its radio-friendly and infectious sound, "Neon Lights" could be a smart future single for Vanity, and is likely to be a favourite on the record for many who enjoy Vanity's more lighter tracks.

After her troubles in the past, "Neon Lights" is one of the songs on the album that highlight Vanity's current life the most, and shows that she's in a much better place compared to a few years ago when things were at their worst. "Numb everything that's been getting me down" she sings confidently in the opening verse, following it with "Throw up the signs, show me where I can feel fine / I just wanna have a good, good time". She later references how things have changed for her in the chorus, with "Used to see everything in black and white / Now all I see are neon lights in the dead of night", her voice at its most impressive on the entire album during the chorus, as she puts her powerful vocals to good use.

"'Neon Lights' is probably one of my favourite songs on the album purely for the reason that I love that 90s dance sound that it has, and also because it never fails to cheer me up. I think music is one thing that will always make me feel better, so the fact that I've made such a feel-good song that can lift my mood whenever is complete magic to me, and one of the reasons why I'm grateful to be the artist that I am. I want to put the power that I have to good use, so if songs like these can make anyone else feel better at the end of a depressing, trying day, then I feel like I've done what I've wanted to do. But most of all, I just want people to listen to my music and have fun with it, the majority of this album is about freedom and letting go, so if it helps to take your troubles away, then I've been successful."

"Neon Lights"

SOUNDS LIKE:

I wanna see rainbows and lights shining
Stars aligning and colours dancing
Let's go and paint the town
Numb everything that's been getting me down
Throw up the signs, show me where I can feel fine
I just wanna have a good, good time

I want my life to be in technicolour
I don't wanna live like any other
I just wanna live to be free
Rip open the sky and see where it takes me
Used to see everything in black and white
Now all I see are neon lights in the dead of night
Shining bright, bright, bright
Neon lights in the dead of night, night, night

Confetti rain of silver and gold
And summer days heating up the cold
Paint a smile on my face
And make me lose myself in your embrace
Take my hand and lead me to happiness
Where we celebrate life and banish death
Searching for colour, and the colour found me
And the lights are taking me, taking me...

It's like you've taken me to heaven
And taught me the greatest lesson
Showed me the error of my ways
Then gave me hope and restored my faith
Wipe these tears falling down my face
Make me feel safe at the end of the day
And I'll forever be trapped in a sacred place

I want my life to be in technicolour
I don't wanna live like any other
I just wanna live to be free
Rip open the sky and see where it takes me
Used to see everything in black and white
Now all I see are neon lights in the dead of night
Shining bright, bright, bright
Neon lights in the dead of night, night, night

(x2)
Shining bright, bright, bright
Neon lights in the dead of night, night, night
Oh, come and shine down your light
There's a fire in me that you can ignite
Watch the heart in me explode like dynamite
And watch me take flight

I want my life to be in technicolour
I don't wanna live like any other
I just wanna live to be free
Rip open the sky and see where it takes me
Used to see everything in black and white
Now all I see are neon lights in the dead of night
Shining bright, bright, bright
Neon lights in the dead of night, night, night

Song: Kissing Demons
Album: The Sound of Living
Writer(s): Vanity
Genre: Pop, electro-pop, house, progressive house
Label: North Hill Records

The final track on The Sound of Living is "Kissing Demons", ending the album on a slightly darker note with its lyrical subject, as Vanity sings in a soft, laid back tone over the minimal electronic beat. Unlike a lot of the other songs on the album, "Kissing Demons" keeps its relaxed sound throughout the duration of the track, the chorus notably more laid back than a lot of the others on the record as she sings calmly over the light, soft synths. However, despite being slower than the other songs, "Kissing Demons" does pick up the pace slightly by the second chorus, before she sings the middle-eight with a little more power in her voice, the electronic beat in the background remaining simplistic and fairly quiet underneath her vocals. As the final chorus follows, the lyrics are notably different and shows an end to the story that the song tells.

Despite many other songs on The Sound of Living being based around happiness and joy within life, "Kissing Demons" has a slightly darker undertone to it and lyrically deals with Vanity's past troubles, becoming perhaps the most personal song to her on the album. "I've been looking for trouble like an angel that fell / Led into the darkness like I'm chasing hell", she sings softly in the chorus, based around Vanity's careless and free attitude in the past towards people, which led to others taking advantage of her and almost ruining her career for good. However, Vanity shows that she's learnt from her mistakes and she's no longer naive to such things in the final chorus, finishing with the lines "Make my lips pure once more, rid me of all evils / Now I'm running from these chasing demons".

"I'm a big fan of this track in particular, because it has a lot of meaning to it, and I love songs that add some more variety to an album. An album is almost incomplete without certain tracks, and this is one of those, where I wouldn't see this record without it. It was the final song I actually wrote for the record, as I felt like it was missing a more personal element to it, so I decided to write a track about how I've learnt from my past and no longer surround myself with bad people. People write my music off as basic pop music, and although some songs have more meaning to them than others on this record, they all hold a special place in my heart. I wrote all the lyrics and decided what direction in terms of sound I wanted to go in this time round, it's all been down to me. Hopefully people have enjoyed seeing this side to me on the album and enjoy the closing to this record."

"Kissing Demons"

SOUNDS LIKE:

I've been so wrong, so lost in the underworld
Just a shadow of her former self kinda girl
Trapped in a flame and lost in the fire
Caught up and tangled in barbed wire
I don't wanna break out, I'm on the verge of blasphemy
But everybody loves a sad, sad tragedy

I've lost all sense of reality
Got a fucked up mentality
Turned my back on everything I've known
Now I'm stuck in the danger zone
With a mind that doesn't care
And a heart that wants to be elsewhere

I've been looking for trouble like an angel that fell
Led into the darkness like I'm chasing hell
I've got no prayers and no apologies
And there's no stopping me
Baby, temptation got the best of me
And now there's no saving me
So don't try picking up the pieces
I'm just kissing demons

You smile at me, and it's an angel in my eyes
But it's the devil fooling me with his disguise
You pull me close and kiss me with your burning lips
Then whisper to me, my skin under your fingertips
And you make me feel like I've found home
From a million miles away, and I no longer feel alone

I've lost all sense of reality
Got a fucked up mentality
Turned my back on everything I've known
Now I'm stuck in the danger zone
With a mind that doesn't care
And a heart that wants to be elsewhere

I've been looking for trouble like an angel that fell
Led into the darkness like I'm chasing hell
I've got no prayers and no apologies
And there's no stopping me
Baby, temptation got the best of me
And now there's no saving me
So don't try picking up the pieces
I'm just kissing demons

Now the gates are locked, you've left me to rot
In a lake of burning fire, but I wanna be taken higher
Oh, there's no paradise without a sacrifice
So I'll give myself and my last breath...

And then it all becomes so clear to me
That you've been lying, you've been hiding
Laughing at me in this masquerade
And now I wanna run back to some place familiar
But you tug at me, take the soul in me
Capture me and break the bones in me
Make my lips pure once more, rid me of all evils
Now I'm running from these chasing demons
