Pre-Wedding“A moment, a love, a dream, a laugh A kiss, a cry, our rights, our wrongs” The Temper Trap – Sweet DispositionIt’s a beautiful February morning in Elizabethtown, Indiana. Outside is a picture perfect blue sky with a nice soft breeze in the air, Brandon and Hannah are in separate hotels within the city prior to the wedding, Brandon is awoken by his alarm, he quickly shuts the noise off and rubs his eyes, he stretches his arms into the air before opening his eyes fully, he runs his hands through his hair and puts an old sweater on before climbing out of the bed, he walks into the bathroom and turns the taps on, waiting for the sink to fill up he wanders across to the fridge and grabs a bottle of water before returning to the bathroom and he washes his face in order to wake himself up fully. Once finished he wanders back into the main room area, he looks around at the empty room and walks over towards the balcony, pulling the old fashioned looking curtains along he looks up at the sky and smiles, thinking to himself, “Perfect weather for a perfect day.” He grabs the key’s off of the small table next to the bed and open up the balcony doors before stepping out onto the balcony, if he focuses his eyes hard enough he can see the lake in the distance, it’s shimmering in the distance and the smile on his face becomes even more noticeable, he sits down on the outdoor table and chair on the balcony and feels the breeze of the wind across his face, he stays sat there for a while, just taking everything in for what will quite possibly be the most important day in his life.
After a while of quiet contemplation and relaxation ahead of the wedding, Brandon finally makes his way back into the room, he checks his messages and then checks the time on his mobile phone, there’s still quite a long time to wait until the wedding. He softly drops the phone on his bed and wanders over to the fridge, he has a look at a couple of items located in the fridge before closing the door, he grabs his IPod off the side table in the lounge area and starts to slowly put on some sneakers, all the while in a very focused manner, his mind is clearly on the events set for later today, he grabs his keys and walks out of the room, he locks the door and wanders over towards the elevator, he pushes the button and awaits it’s arrival, once it appears he wanders inside and it makes its way down to the ground floor. As he steps out of the elevator he wanders towards the front doors, he smiles at the man standing in the reception area and gives him a slight nod of the head before heading outside, he places the IPod earphones into his ears and starts walking towards the lake, he sees a number of people working hard at decorating the surrounding area and walks over to a slightly older lady, he walks behind her and puts his arm around her, “Hey mom, bet you thought this day would never come, huh?” he chuckles lightly as he takes in the view, “This place is looking pretty magical, thanks for helping out.” And with that he kisses his mom on the cheek before wandering down by the edge of the lake, he pulls the hood of his sweater over his head and starts slowly running into the distance.
After a short while, Brandon returns back to the hotel where he’s staying, making his way up to his room several people greet him with smiles and encouragement, “Good luck Brandon” was now becoming a regular phrase coming from the locals staying at the hotel, the wedding had clearly become an event that had drawn a lot of interest from the locals of this small town. After making his way up to his room, Brandon checks his mobile one more, he sends a text message to Hannah;
“Hope you slept well I can’t wait to marry you I know you’re gonna look beautiful I’ll See you soon I love you x”
As soon as the text message was sent, a knock at the door was heard. Brandon wandered over and opened it, his sister Haley was standing there with a huge smile on her face, “Hey little bro, wow you’re getting married today, are you nervous? … aren’t you scared she might not show up?” she smirks a little and Brandon looks at her and grins slightly, “Why are you here again?” he asks, “To help my little brother look good on his wedding day of course.” She says as she starts to look around the room.
A couple of hours pass and Brandon walks out of the bedroom, dressed in a … suit. His sister looks up at him, “Well I’ve never seen you looking so sophisticated, does Hannah know that she’s marrying James Bond?” she giggles before continuing, “You look real good little brother.” Brandon smiles a little, he checks the time and looks over at Haley, she takes a quick look at the clock on the wall and stand up. “Well, that’s some pretty perfect timing Brandon. You all set?” she asks, Brandon thinks for a moment, “Uhhh, there’s one more thing.” He takes a small black box from out of the drawers and pulls out a small glimmering ruby stone, he places into his pockets and stands silently for a moment before Haley remembers the reason for it, “Oh I remember that, She said it was lucky?” she thinks for a moment, “And that you have to give it to the person you’re gonna marry?” Brandon nodded before Haley continued once more, “You always thought she’d be here on your wedding day, you still miss her don’t you?” She asks as Brandon quickly replies, “Yeah, she’ll be watching.” He smiles slightly before moving over towards the door. The two leave the room and make their way out to the lake where the guests are all sat in attendance. |
