Well hello there, what excellent timing you have. Were you perhaps looking for some new awesome music from your favourite label? I sure hope so, otherwise you are in the wrong place.

Were you perhaps also looking for more music from the family Lenoire, better known to most as Temple Lantern Caravel. Because that's what we've got. And it's an unexpectedly dark turn for the duo, usualy known for their slow folksy chamber orchestrations. Wooddoom is an ancient and gnarled tree that draws water from deepest darkest crevices of the Earth.

Following on from that, it's about time for another Plague Techtonics reissue wouldn't you say? This time it's their self-split LP Olm/Sulphurworm, featuring two extended compositions, one on each side. Featuring old school hardware synths played in situ. As this was never previously available digitally, we are excited to bring the world CD and download codes for this unique recording.

We have some more exciting stuff coming down the pipe too, including a very interesting collaborative record that may just be to your liking. Without wanting to give too much away, I can reveal that I was privileged enough to take part in this recording.

And that, as they say is most probably that,
Quentin Uderick Iain Phong

Slightly green, you should note. Kind of riff on black metal tropes, but not going all the way down that route with a black metal logo - though the logo does have rotational symmetry which is cool.
Wooddoom – Blight
(2xLP/CD)

1. River of Plagues (3:29)
2. Harvestman (6:10)
3. Black Theatre (8:01)
4. Thaumaturge (2:19)
5. Blightwater (7:43)
6. Stand at the Gates all you Want… (3:54)
7. … You Will be Razed Where You Stand (10:00)

Wooddoom is an exciting new creative endeavour for Virgil and Lauren Lenoire, known for their work together as Temple Lantern Caravel. Recorded at the same time, in the same Alaskan cottage as the last Temple Lantern Caravel release Pass Into Night, Blight is the blackened, moss-covered mirror image of that record. Where TLC is filled with the light of nature, Wooddoom is filled with darkness. That is not to say Blight is an overtly-negative record, but it draws from a much darker palette than TLC does.

Joined by Thorgils Róssolis on drums, Wooddoom's debut filters black metal, doom metal and dark ambient influences through an earthy hand-crafted textural aesthetic that should be familiar to fans of Temple Lantern Caravel or the earlier Amphibious Unity Choir & Eight-Hundred Salamanders Handclap Band. This is music of the soil, of the cycle of life and death and the forest floor. Bass and treble in equal measure, swamped in earthy dampened reverb and all the rich, dank and musty odours of a water-logged wine cellar.

2xLP, First 200 pressed on marbled-black&blue, remainder pure black. CD digipack available. Download code with every copy.

Faux Russian text is kind of cliché at this point so I toned it back a bit, but what the hell, it's kind of appropriate.
Plague Techtonics - Olm/Sulphurworm
(2xLP/CD)

1. Olm (21:15)
2. Sulphurworm (22:09)

Continuing our series of Plague Techtonics reissues, this one is a real gem. Originally released on the Dire Pylon label, two side-long pieces recorded on a wide variety of old analogue modular synths in various rooms, building complex dense textural drones that drift and rumble forward through ugliness and beauty. The sound of this record is roomy, it reverberates and echoes with the sound of the walls and the ceiling in such a way that the room itself is an instrument. A battle of standing waves.

The overall dynamic of the album is in reverse to traditional structure, beginning at full density and saturation of sound, unravelling to a threadbare skeleton of sound towards the middle, then building itself back together through the second half. Themes of industrial landscapes, of pollution and decay.

On single-sleeve LP, rust flecked yellow ochre. At long last a CD mini-sleeve edition will also be available, a miniaturised replica of the LP. Download code with every copy.
