Eilidh had had a tough few days. She thought she was in for one of the best nights of her life when she was scheduled to host the Chaos Awards with her boyfriend and love of her life Oscar Ward. Things had not panned out well though for the bubbly red head. The night had turned sour with her boyfriend giving her snide remarks through the night thanks to a second false media report about her.
To finish it all off, she had spent the last week waking up feeling very ill. She had been sick most days, and she was scared. She now stood in the hall, getfing up the courage to enter the living room, where she knew Oscar was.
After a few minutes, Eilidh walked in, sitting on a chair and swinging her legs. She stared at the TV.

Eilidh sat right on the edge of the chair. She was wearing a red and pink summer dress, and she fidgeted with the trim of it as she swung her legs back and forward, staring at her hands, and occasionally turning back to the TV, although she couldn't really concentrate. When Oscar spoke a little, she jumped slightly, surprised to hear his voice. They hadn't talked a lot in the last few days, and she was worried.

"Are you gonna break up with me...?" Her voice sounded small and croaky, and she didn't look up as she spoke.

Eilidh asked Oscar the question that had made her really scared. Ever since the Chaos Awards, and the fake story about her and Billy, she had been worried that Oscar was going to finish their relationship. That was one of two big things on her mind. When he spoke, she felt a little better, but kept her voice quiet as she looked down.

"I just thought...after the awards."

She stopped swinging her legs when he mentioned how distant she had seemed. She clasped her hands together in front of her and stared at her thumbs, trying to think of what she was supposed to say to him. After a while she just nodded her head and whispered softly.

"Yeah..."

When Eilidh spoke, she was torn. Part of her wanted Oscar to drop the subject, that way she could try to forget it, and how scared she was; for now anyway. She could deal with it later. Another part of her though wanted him to keep asking. She wanted to tell him, but she didn't want him to think that it upset her. She didn't want him to think that anything was wrong, or that she was worried; especially not after all they had talked about.

When Oscar knelt on the floor beside her, she felt his gaze and moved her eyes a little, catching his eye and staring at him for a few seconds. She fiddled her thumbs a little, feeling like she knew she was going to have to speak very soon, and getting more nervous by the second.

She nodded slowly. "I know. I'm just scared."

Eilidh looks at Oscar, but she couldn't hold his gaze for more than a few seconds. All that was darting through her mind was the thought that he might freak out at her and tell her to leave him alone. She tried to smile, but she found that her mouth wouldn't cooperate. She looked down at his hand on her knee and then took a deep breath.

"After I fell in that bar, you know how I hurt my tummy? Well I went to see the doctor the next day. That's all."

She shrugged again, trying not to make eye contact, and swinging her legs back and forward again.

Eilidh felt something bubbling inside her. She wanted to tell him so bad. She had been holding this secret now for the last two and a half days, and it felt like it was draining all the energy out of her. She had even had to pretend to be asleep at night so as not wake Oscar up and make him think something was wrong. As Oscar stood up and kissed her, Eilidh suddenly got struck by the feeling that it was now or never. She grabbed onto his hand.

"Oscar..the doctor said..he said I have to not be so clumsy and not fall over again, because it..."

She found the last bit hard to say, and looked up at Oscar, her large brown eyes pleading with him for help.

Eilidh breathed a little heavily. As Oscar stood her up, she felt a little worried, not knowing what he would say. A tear or two started to form in the corner of her eye, and as she blinked, they rolled simultaneously down her cheeks. She looked up at Oscar again and nodded this time. She held his hand tight, and squeezed it, as if subconsciously begging him not to let her go. She sighed and then spoke.

"He said...he said it was ok this time."She stopped for a second. "But...but next time if I fall the baby might get hurt..."

As soon as she said the word, Eilidh held her breath. She was waiting for the reaction. Knowing that she could not do it alone, she had prayed that Oscar would stay with her and tell her it was going to be ok. But he didnt. As she said baby, he had stepped away from her, and a horrible feeling hit her in the gut. She started to cry.

"I'm sorry Oz...."

She wept quietly as she stared at the floor.

Eilidh put her arms around Oscar's neck and hugged him, still crying into his chest.

"I was scared in case you would tell me to go away. I can't do it all on my own."

She tried to smile a little, but still felt slightly scared, gripping onto him for all she was worth.

Eilidh looked up at Oscar and smiled a little. She wiped her tears and nodded.

"I know. I'm just relieved that I could tell you. I've been really scared."

She hugged him again.
