KELI O'DAY PERFORMANCE: WHO YOU ARE/STAND BY ME Quote:I really enjoyed last week, I was really confident unlike during the first live show. Me and Hayden worked together non stop to try to get the performance spot on. I think he is a terrific mentor and really knows what's best for me. I'm glad that I survived another week albeit nearly being elimated again, I really want to show everyone that I can be a good performer just like the others, people just need to give me the chance. The elimination of ELMNT was a real shock to me and just made me think that if an act that good can go so early in the competition then all bets are off. I'm going to up my game this week. The first song I will be singing is 'Who You Are' by Jessie J, it's a very modern ballad but I think it is so beautiful and inspiring. The second one is 'Stand By Me' by Ben E. King, which was chosen by Hayden. I think it is a great song and I've now fallen in love with it. I can't wait to get out there and sing my heart out! Keli walks out to the cheering crowd, waving and smiling. She notices her friends and family in the crowd, holding posters and wearing t-shirts which say 'Keli's Our Winner'. She smiles and nods at them before looking at the five judges, with all of them looking relaxed and fresh faced it puts Keli at ease even more. Taking hold of the microphone, she bows her head down as the lights change to a lonely icy blue. Before the music starts, Keli ad-libs; Yeeeahhhhh, just be true to who you.......are in a very powerful voice, holding the 'are' for a long time. As soon as she finishes, the guitar starts to play.  I stare at my reflection in the mirror:
"Why am I doing this to myself?"
Losing my mind on a tiny error,
I nearly left the real me on the shelf.
No, no, no, no, no...
Don't lose who you are in the blur of the stars!

Just be true to who you are!Backing vocals repeat the line 'Who You Are' softly and angelic like whilst Keli ad-libs. She closes her eyes and smiles. She starts to move her head slightly to the slow beat whilst the back up vocalists do there thing. Someone from the crowd shouts; 'We Love You Keli!'. Her smile widens and she holds back a chuckle as she sings the next lines.Brushing my hair, do I look perfect?
I forgot what to do to fit the mold, yeah!
The more I try the less it's working, yeah

There's nothing wrong with who you are! Her usual sweet voice suddenly becomes more aggressive during the bridge. The crowd start to cheer as she makes use of the big stage and walks around, getting closer to different parts of the crowd. She then returns to centre stage and closes her eyes and tilts her head up as she belts out the word; 'home', holding the note for a long time yet seeming so effortless without any strain on her voice. Then when she sings; 'that's my home', her voice returns to the usual sweet angelic voice we all know.Yes, no's, egos, fake shows, like WHOA!

Yeah yeah yeahAs the song ends, the intro to her next song plays straight away, blending in with the end of 'Who You Are'. The lights slowly fade from blue to a beautiful dark purple. She smiles as she sings the opening line to her new favourite song. The crowd cheer as she doesWhen the night has come

Stand by me, stand by me She starts to slowly sway her hips side to side during the second verse, the audience cheer and scream. Keli gives a cheeky wink and continues to sing. Her voice very similar to a motown star, she really gets into the song.If the sky that we look upon

'Thank you!'. They cheer, woop and applaud Keli who has given her strongest performance yet. Keli nods at the judges and looks to Hayden for a sign that she nailed it |
