Kerrang! interview with Rory Delaney K!: Hello, Rory. Looking good I must say.
Rory Delaney: I know, but dude, are you gay or something?
K!: Uhhhh... No... Moving on, how's your first few weeks of fame turned out for you?
Rory Delaney: It's been good so far, can't stop getting laid. Which is pretty fucking epic I must say. Also we've got a few gigs done now and we've got ourselves a supporting slot on tour with a big artist so things are great, dude.
K!: Great to hear, so... May we ask who the tour is with?
Rory Delaney: As far as I know, mate, I probably should wait for the thing to be announced before talking about it.
K!: That's understandable, don't wanna get you into trouble. So, how would you describe the music that topLADS come up with as?
Rory Delaney: Fucking awesome. (laughs) Nah, I'm not that much of a dick. I believe our music is a tad self centered though, the lyrics are a bit cocky in my own right, but why not Most people aren't as good as me. Also the music is, in my own opinion, pretty good. It should hopefully turn out popular to people who like bands such as U2, The Killers, Good Charlotte, Franz Ferdinand and most other bands in the rock/alt rock/pop rock sort of genre. Although if you've seen out first music video that we stuck up on Youtube.
K!: Oh, really? Well, we've seen that video and posted it up with the interview.
Rory Delaney: (Laughs) Shit, haha. I must say that we never took the song seriously and we did it as a laugh, we never expected to hit the big time, so to say, and we just started out having fun and not taking ourselves too seriously.
K!: So, it's easy to tell you've been a hit with the ladies since you've become a known band, but most interestingly you've become a hit with Whitney from Hard Sugar and the absolute sex symbol of the music industry, Suzie Stockholm! Surely it doesn't get better than that.
Rory Delaney: I know, right? You gotta agree though, they're both extremely fit, right? You could never possibly deny it. But what can I say? I'm a fucking chick magnet, mate. A ladiesLAD.
K!: We've heard your upcoming single, 'Better Than Your Average Joe', what sort of message are you planning to send out through this song.
Rory Delaney: Basically I'm a cocky little shit, but why not? I'm better than most people. It also expresses my views on love and relationships as I've never really agreed with it. Why would people basically contract themselves to one person? It's bullshit, especially when you could sleep around, party, go for a drink and stuff without being dragged down by a boyfriend/girlfriend.
K!: You've made friends in the industry already, such as Suzie and Whitney of course, but also legends in the business like Taylor Asbridge, upcoming popular talents like Billy from Weekend, Mandy Williams and the list keeps going, but you've only been known for about two weeks, how do you do it?
Rory Delaney: Well, I guess it's just the way things go, innit. I've always been a social guy and I've never struggled to make friends. Billy is a good mate of mine already, he's a extremely cool lad and he's not your average boybander who's obsessed with puppies, sunsets, rainbows and unicorns. Which is a bit of a step out of the norm. (laughs) But yeah, despite the fact he supports Tottenham Hotspur, he's a legend.
K!: A lot of people have picked up on your live gigs and have credited you for your energy, ability and communication with the crowd. Especially as you join the crowd for the mosh pits. Not many people do that.
Rory Delaney: Well, I've always loved a bit of mosh pitting. But yeah, I don't understand how people just go on stage, talk a bit, sing, thank everyone and then piss off. It's always nice to involve yourself with the crowd, everyone enjoys it more that way. I risk injuring myself by mosh pitting, crowd surfing and stage diving, but the crowd love it and at the end of the day, we love it too. It's always worth the risk.
K!: We've also got a video of "The Walk", which is a little dance at the end of one of your songs. But my God, it's become a big craze at your gigs, huh?
Rory Delaney: Yeah, The Walk has become a massive hit with the fans, apparently it's the next Macarena. I dunno about it but if they say it is, I ain't gonna disagree.
K!: Well, us at Kerrang! wish you luck for your upcoming singles and EP and hope you get the fame you deserve.
Rory Delaney: Thank you, and for that compliment, you get 50 LAD points, mate.
K!: Uh, thanks... I guess...
