Background
Dancing in the Dark is the third studio album by Popstar Isabel Merjos. After the success of her last album, Izzy has returned with a new record that is sure to define her career. Working with some top and high quality producers, Izzy's goal was to be more diverse with this album and not just prove she's a pop artist. How does one do that? Simply by getting out of the stereotypical image of what a pop artist is. With 3 #1 singles already from the album, the singer's success can only get bigger with the release of her album. Set to be released on July 16th, Izzy hopes to impress and improve with this album. Some critics say that this is her most diverse and mature album to date, complimenting her on her ability to not only remind us of her signature styles but to introduce us to a different more aged Izzy.

Quote:
"Fans are really going to enjoy this album because it's probably my most personal and it allows them to get some insight onto my life a little. It's definitely a mature album but it's still fun. I got to work with different people and producers which was really fun, and I got to be more hands on with this album as far as production goes. All of the tracks I helped produce and I wrote, so it was fun being able to play producer. I thought who else could make the sound up than the person who wrote the words? It's my favorite album that I've done so far and it helped me be able to work with people I've always wanted to so some interesting collaborations on here. To describe my album in one word? Different. It's really different from my past albums, a good different, and it just shows you how much I've changed yet managed to stay the same with my songs.

I think lyrically, some might argue that the lyrics are simple and I might disagree. Yes, I believe that they may be simple but they have meaning in them and there's a message in each song. I think it's important as an artist to be able to look at situations and then write a song in a kind of witty and clever way but something that also catches attention of people around you. People will always think of me as just a Dance, Pop artist that writes songs that are fun and stuff but I also have meanings in my songs, some serious and some not so serious, but as long as there's a message, it should be okay. I really went outside of my element to create this album and I'm glad I did because I gained a new found respect for other artists and instruments, it was almost a learning experience for me."

Featuring collaborations from some of the biggest names in music like Misery Loves Company, Dominic, Jennifer Armstrong, Chloe and even Kato, Dancing in the Dark proves to fans and critics alike that clearly the young lady has grown up with her music. Ranging the topics from love, heartbreak, motivational, and even growth, the 19 year old will definitely make everyone take a second look at her and her music. She switches up from her usual Dance and Pop songs to Indie Pop, Rock, even R&B. With so many albums coming out this summer and this year, can Izzy make her mark and make this album her best one yet?

Written By: Isabel Merjos, Giovanni Rose-Hilton
Produced By: Giovanni Rose-Hilton, Isabel Merjos
Length: 3:28
Genre: Electro House

Song Description:

The song starts off with a bass like synth and keyboard. Izzy sings in a medium toned voice as the song sounds like it's picking up. It's followed by some drum beats as Izzy's voice gets louder and into the chorus, the song takes a dance like feeling to it. The keyboards and synths are becoming more noticeable as it goes back down as she sings the second verse. The song has a sort of dramatic, dance sounding to it matching with Izzy's vocals which really compliment the beat. When Izzy sings the part "Take a walk from the shadows", her voice has an echoing affect that fades out. The beat changes it's tune in the chorus, picking up more synths and bass. As the song comes to a close, the beat calms down to the way it started in the beginning of the song, with Izzy singing in her soft and now high voice, holding the last note while the song fades out.

Quote:
"In This Life is a song about basically letting go. It's for every woman, man, child, teenager, anyone, who is just afraid to do things or try new experiences. It's basically telling people to let go and just be a free person because we only have one life and we shouldn't waste it. We should be happy and always enjoy each moment as it comes. It's for that girl who's being talked about in school or that guy who is being bullied because of what he wears or the lady who can't seem to find what she's looking for or the man who just has given up hope on life. I think everyone should come out of whatever they are going through and see that sometimes life gets hard but we should live our lives to the fullest with no regrets. If you live your life in fear all the time, you'll miss out on all the great and wonderful things that life has to offer.

Gia is one of my favorite producers and she just seems to know what sound you're looking for without even telling her. I've recently became a fan of House music and it's just so invigorating and energetic and that's the sound I want to make with my new album which this single will be on. I want my album to be that album you listen to when you're down or when you need a good song to pick you up or you wanna dance and feel amazing. I feel it's my duty, especially as a female artist, to help and create positive and true messages for people to listen to."

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
You can't win, You can't fight
Until you realize it's your time
In this life, In this life
All those years, All those cries
Someone comes and wipes your eyes
In this life, In this life

Don't be afraid, Take a ride
You've got nothing left to hide
In this life, In this life
Don't lose your sight, Don't lose your mind
Everyone will start off blind
In this life
In this life

[Chorus]
Ooh! Ooh! Ooh!
You Know, You Know, You Know
(In this life)
Whooa! Whooa! Whooa!
(Take a walk from the shadows)

[Verse 2]
If you don't seek, You'll never find
The hidden glories of your time
In this life, In this life
You learn to walk, You learn to run
You'll learn to fight without your gun
In this life, In this life

Don't walk away, Don't hesitate
You have to learn to pass the hate
In this life, In this life
I know your weak, You can't survive
But no one can easily just get by
In this life
In this life

[Chorus]
Ooh! Ooh! Ooh!
You Know, You Know, You Know
(In this life)
Whooa! Whooa! Whooa!
(Take a walk from the shadows)

I can't live, I can't soar high
If you won't be my wings to fly
In this life, In this life
In this life

Produced By: Giovanni Rose-Hilton, Isabel Merjos
Length: 3:25
Genre: Dance-Pop

Song Description:

An uptempo dance-pop ballad is the choice for starting the next track on the album. The song incorporates teen pop and pop-rock styles, electro-pop beats, and rock music. The song uses suspenseful strings in the beginning and they combine with a rhythmic drum to set the tone for the rest of the song, where violins are always joining in. This song is yet another example of Izzy's matured lyrics that seem to captivate the audience. The song features several key points where Izzy's voice is shining over the record yet not overshadowing the song itself. Lyrically, the song tells of a break up due to the male's views of the female. She also tells of her being proud and accepting of all her imperfections, noting that they make her feel fine and that he is the one that has a problem in the relationship.

Quote:
"Imperfections (Are the Best) was definitely one of my most inspiring songs to write. It's the feeling that all people get, when they feel they aren't good enough to be with someone and it takes themselves to figure out that they are fine. I loved writing this song because it was just pure honesty and relateable. I went through this with an ex and sometimes you start to take to heart what people tell you but you shouldn't. It's more of a self-discovery song, it's a process of finding out that yes, you are beautiful and you do have flaws but they make you, you. I think I wrote this song in like a hour because it was just really easy to write about something I've been through. It's also in a way a message for anyone who gets bullied. I think they should stand up and say 'Hey, I know I'm not perfect and you don't like the way I look or dress, etc, but I'm fine with the way I am and I love me so you're the one with the problem'. It's really a honest song about what I think of myself in a lot of ways. There's also some points in the song where I was talking about I doubted myself and thought he was right but it's all about really knowing yourself and being comfortable with yourself.

Gia was really pushing this song to be on the album, because initially it wasn't going to be but she really thought it should be on the album. I trust her judgement completely so we put this song on the album and I'm glad we did. I usually don't second guess myself but I'm positive this song was a crucial part of my album. She completely trusted me to write because usually she helps me with my writing or someone else does but she gave it all to me and said 'Have at it!' and so I did."

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
You told me the last time I needed
To look like a different girl
I thought back and believed you
But now I don't really think it's true
Now here we are and you're begging me
For another chance to let you have the key
To my heart, you want that, but guess what?

[Chorus]
Sick and tired of all your tests
Don't wanna do this no more
It's time that we took a rest
We're always going to war
If you can't handle my worse
Then you don't deserve my best, my best
Because I love all my imperfections
My imperfections, my imperfections
They are the best, my imperfections
My imperfections, oh, yeah, yeah

[Verse 2]
Now that we're finally over
I feel like I can breathe again
You told me about your standards
And now you are the one in pain
I saw the light and the problem too
Spent all that time trying to hurt myself
Not going back since I realized
My problem was you

[Chorus]
Sick and tired of all your tests
Don't wanna do this no more
It's time that we took a rest
We're always going to war
If you can't handle my worse
Then you don't deserve my best, my best
Because I love all my imperfections
My imperfections, my imperfections
They are the best
If you can't handle my worse
Then you don't deserve my best
Because I love all my imperfections
My imperfections, my imperfections
Oh, yeah, yeah

[Bridge]
Thought that I was being foolish
Thought that I just wasn't enough
But now I know that I am perfectly imperfect
And now you aren't so tough, whoa-oh-whoa-oh-oh

[Chorus]
Sick and tired of all your tests
Don't wanna do this no more (Don't wanna do this no more)
It's time that we took a rest
We're always going to war (We're always going to war)
If you can't handle my worse
Then you don't deserve my best, my best
Because I love all my imperfections

My pride is stronger now
Something that you'll never break
I see the look in your eyes
Knowing you've made a mistake
If you can't handle my worse
Then you don't deserve my best, my best
Because I love all my imperfections
My imperfections, my imperfections
They are the best
If you can't handle my worse
Then you don't deserve my best, best
Because I love all my imperfections
My imperfections, my imperfections

You told me the last time I needed
To look like a different girl

Produced By: Giovanni Rose-Hilton
Length: 3:35
Genre: Indie Pop, Indie Dance

Song Description:

Starting off with what sounds like a synthesizer, this track really takes the album in a different direction already. With it's smooth beats and simple rhythm, this song proves to slow things down a bit and give a softer tone. Izzy's soft, delicate voice is heard over the beat, giving it a crisp, airy feeling which really feels relaxing. Singing in almost complete soprano, the track turns into another direction once the full band is heard with instruments ranging from synths to percussion and so on. The verses are sung in the same way each time and there seems to be keyboards introduced towards the end of them. Izzy's voice is reflected with backing vocals as she sings in a low soprano voice which plays off of each other. Singing about a lost love, Izzy really turns the song into a dreamy trance that makes you want to just really sit back and contemplate. Once again, the singer manages to make a perfect transition during the song while singing and holding her note smoothly during the last round of the chorus.

Quote:
"This track was inspired by my little sister. She was talking to me about a boy she had a crush on and I just though 'Man, I remember when it used to be so simple to date and it was so innocent' so I was wanting to write a song about it and then it turned into a song about when you get older and you don't find that love anymore. You don't find those innocent guys who just are honest and wanna care about you. In a sense it's also talking about you not being able to find that love you once shared with someone before. The sound was absolutely something I didn't imagine myself doing but it really turned out great. There was a sort of indie feel to it which I've never done before so that was fun. As I said before, this album has some different sounds and a variety of shades of me.

Sunny Monroe is a songwriter that Gia had referred me to so she could help me with the song. She was really nice and patient so we hit it off fast. She told me to just relax and paint a picture with my words so I tried. She has this thing where she likes to close her eyes, dream for a moment, wake up, and then write. I tried it and the product was this song, it's amazing. We had a lot of fun working on this song. She has really helped me with my songwriting throughout the album. I've never thought I was the best songwriter but she really helps you to gain confidence and just try different methods of writing. This was probably one of my favorite songs on the album, really hits home. I wanted a track on here that can make you think but also makes you reflect and I think this track was definitely the one to do it."

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Days go by but I still remember when you first said my name
You were sitting real high in that old oak tree the one where we played our games
I used to follow you everyday after school until you stopped
Then you never showed up anymore and I

[Chorus]
Ooh la la, I fell in love with the boy of my dreams
Till he went away
Ooh la la, I fell in love with the boy of my dreams
Till he went away
I dream about you every day and I can't help myself
I dream about you every day and I can't help myself

[Verse 2]
The image of your face when you first start smiling the smell of my sweet perfume
Your hand was so warm when you took mine and I hoped our love would bloom
I used to write your name all on my notebooks
Then you never showed up anymore and I

[Chorus]
Ooh la la, I fell in love with the boy of my dreams
Till he went away
Ooh la la, I fell in love with the boy of my dreams
Till he went away
I dream about you every day and I can't help myself
(Help myself)
Ooh la la, I fell in love with the boy of my dreams
Till he went away
Ooh la la, I fell in love with the boy of my dreams
Till he went away

[Bridge]
Would have did all I could to make us work, Would have gave you anything you wanted
Would have did what I could to make us work, Wish you didn't go and hurt yourself

(Would have did all I could to make us work, would have gave you anything you wanted)
Ooh la la, I fell in love with the boy of my dreams
Till he went away
(Would have did what I could to make us work, Wish you didn't go and hurt yourself)

Produced By: Giovanni Rose-Hilton, Rico Love
Length: 3:47
Genre: Teen Pop, Acoustic, Indie Pop

Song Description:

Beginning with the sound of a lone guitar, this continues the somber feel of the album now. Joining in with Izzy's vocals, a drum beat is heard as well as she is singing in a low, crisp voice. The sounds of Izzy vocalizing in the back while she is singing the chorus really compliments the sound. Her voice almost sounds broken and tethered but still beautiful and entrancing. The song speaks about becoming a new person and to focus on what's important and not just looks. Izzy seems to be reaching out to the fans again with this record, giving yet another motivational encouragement to leave old things behind. The small added effects don't drown out the singers singing abilities or make the record sound like it's too much but rather it adds an extra kick to the track.

Quote:
"I believe this track has a very summer, teen feeling to it and I wanted to direct this to girls everywhere. It's about how I see a lot of girls are today. They base everything on their looks and seem to think that's what they should mainly be concerned about but it's not. It's really rare to see girls not wear tons of make up and think looking otherwise isn't beautiful or appealing. It's about trying to better yourself and forgetting all that you thought you knew to become someone new. I'm telling them to leave that girl behind so they can embrace the other side of life. It tells of how girls can sometimes feel as if they are not enough but they have to constantly compete to be someone in the world and I wanna tell them that they don't need to look like magazine covers or centerfolds because all that matters is how you see yourself and if you're happy with the way you are. It also goes for the opposite, if you feel you should change something then go for it because all that will matter in the future is what you think.

When I was given the beat for this song, I thought I was going to be writing another love song but those weren't the words that came out. It turns out I had this on my mind and the words came out naturally and after a few hours I had finished the song. At first it was going to be kind of a happy song but then of course Gia knew that it had to be sung a certain way and I think that really affects to whole song. She is just really a genius when it comes to music, she knows how I sing and how I should sing on certain songs. Despite the depressing feeling most might feel, I think it's a really good summer song and it almost has that atmosphere to it. It's another one of my favorites."

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Stop looking now, take that mirror and throw it away
Why punish yourself? With the cruel jokes that they like to play
But you start back again
Know that you need a friend
Someone who can make you smile
In the dark and the night
Do whatever you like
Just don't give up the fight

[Chorus]
Beauty comes and goes but it won't define your life
Take away that make up and the aesthetic high
Don't live your whole life while it is based on a lie
You know that you're more than nothing
Leave that girl behind
Ah-ah-oh
Ah-ah-oh
(Leave her behind)
Ah-ah-oh
Ah-ah-oh
(Leave her behind)
Ah-ah-oh
Ah-ah-oh
Leave her behind

[Verse 2]
You're grown up now, all those past thoughts mean nothing today (No nothing)
Life's just begun, no time to worry and no time to delay
And the thought's at an end
Now the start can begin
You wonder if you're right
In the dark and the night
Do whatever you like
Just don't give up the fight
(Don't give it up)

[Chorus]
Beauty comes and goes but it won't define your life
Take away that make up and the aesthetic high
Don't live your whole life while it is based on a lie
You know that you're more than nothing
Leave that girl behind
Ah-ah-oh
Ah-ah-oh
(Leave her behind)
Ah-ah-oh
Ah-ah-oh

[Bridge]
Make this last forever, don't ever let the feeling escape
Make this last forever, don't ever let this feeling escape, you
(Last forever, Last forever, Last forever, Last forever)

[Chorus]
Beauty comes and goes but it won't define your life (Woo!)
Take away that make up and the aesthetic high
Don't live your whole life while it is based on a lie
You know that you're more than nothing
Leave that girl behind

Beauty comes and goes but it won't define your life
Take away that make up and the aesthetic high
Don't live your whole life while it is based on a lie
You know that you're more than nothing

Ah-ah-oh
Ah-ah-oh
(Leave her behind)
Ah-ah-oh
Ah-ah-oh

[Chorus]
Beauty comes and goes but it won't define your life
Take away that make up and the aesthetic high
Don't live your whole life while it is based on a lie
You know that you're more than nothing
Leave that girl behind
Ah-ah-oh
Ah-ah-oh
(Leave her behind)
Ah-ah-oh
Ah-ah-oh

Make this last forever
(Ah-ah-oh, Ah-ah-oh)
Don't ever let the feeling escape
Make this last forever
(Ah-ah-oh, Ah-ah-oh)
Don't ever let this feeling escape, you

Beauty comes and goes but it won't define your life
Take away that make up and the aesthetic high
Don't live your whole life while it is based on a lie
You know that you're more than nothing
Leave that girl behind

Ellie: Awwwww wow! Those first four songs are so addictive especially "Imperfections", I love the lyrics and can't wait to hear more and more and more from this album, especially the track with Misery Loves Company, thank god for the repeat button :D Great job Izzzzzzy!

Adam Benjamin: I want to shrink you down and carry you around in my pocket so that whenever I'm feeling sad I can just say "Izzy, sing!" and suddenly feel all warm and better ... Or I could just put all of your songs on my Ipod and press play whenever I need to be cheered up ... whichever is easier for you, I guess :)

OOC: Really great job so far :)

Scott: I think that everyone will know that this sort of thing is as far from my cup of teas as it is possible to get without it being Hayden Merjos' cup of tea. Nonethless, I listened to it because Gia was producing on the record, and you know something, I loved the second song "Imperfections (Are The Best). The lyrics to the chorus really impressed me and it has a nice melody to it, as well as a decent sort of message. In a funny way, talking about people always being at war kinda describes my marriage (kidding Gi), so it made me think. Easy to see why you are one of the top young stars out there these days. With Isabel and Katie Coyle on top at your young ages...is every other pop star doomed? Maybe.

Eilidh: Dance Eilidh!! "Ooh la la I fell in love with the boy of my dreams." Yay! I love these songs Izzy. They are really fun and loud and I loved them all. I'm gonna dance so much. You are my favouritest!

Cassie: Is it wrong that when I heard you sing "Leave her behind" in the fourth track, it made me think "hey you, don't touch that girl's ass?" Get it? :P Great work on these so far Izzy :)

OOC: Nice work so far :)

Written By: Isabel Merjos, Chloe Smith
Produced By: Giovanni Rose-Hilton
Length: 3:29
Genre: House, Dance

Song Description:

An uptempo song with heavy beats is how Izzy has chosen to present her latest single from her third studio album. Starting off with an electronic synth like sounding noise, the heavy beats are then introduced into the song while Izzy is singing. The song takes a shift when she starts to sing the chorus, giving it the full dance and club feeling as she belts out the chorus. As she sings 'Lights go down', repeatedly, you can also hear her vocals in the background singing, 'Ohhhhhh'. Chloe's slick flow is one of the highlights in the song, even addressing the issue with Allura Silk who made a diss record about Chloe, also mocking her with a photo comparing her to a geico with the line, 'Silk ain't so slick I liked the photo/Thought you would win but not really though.' She has a little auto tune used in her voice as she sings the last line of her rap. Izzy then jumps back into the song singing the chorus, wrapping up the song.

Quote:
"I believe me and Chloe together made an amazing party record! Her rap skills and my singing skills really bounced off of each other and then the production, it was just amazing. I asked Chloe to do this song with me because I knew no one else could sound as good as she does on the track so I'm really fortunate she agreed. It's no secret I love her as an artist and as a female rapper so lots of love and girl power on this track.

The lyrics are basically somewhat simple. I wrote about someone who loves me and ultimately saw the best in me, so he's kind of the hero I'm referring to. When you get to the chorus, there's kind of another meaning within the song. Basically almost similar to what In This Life was about, motivating people and getting them to come out of their shells to have fun. It's saying people sometimes act differently when there's no spotlight or light shining on them or when no one's around so they feel free and can act care-free. I'm typically a care-free person whether someone's looking or not but I'm all for having fun and living life to the fullest."

Lyrics

Isabel
Chloe

[Verse 1]
Lovin, Lovin, Lovin never felt so good
Thinkin bout the things that you said you would
Do for me, yes do for me
Not to do to me, I don't wanna be that girl

My body is a temple and you've praised me
Something like a hero tried to save me
Always be that miracle no one did see
To come whisk me away

Can you
Feel it?
Feel it?
Feel it?
Take me away

[Chorus]
We feel so alive when all the lights go down
We dance like a fool not caring who's around
Show me what you do when all the lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
We feel so alive when all the lights go down
I feel on a high and I'm not comin down
Show me what you do when all the lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down (Ohhhhh)

[Verse 2]
First you, First you have to quit
Worrying, don't think of it
Let them cry and have a fit
The best advice that I could get

My body is a temple and you've praised me
Something like a hero tried to save me
Always be that miracle no one did see
To come whisk me away

Can you
Feel it?
Feel it?
Feel it?
Take me away

[Chorus]
We feel so alive when all the lights go down
We dance like a fool not caring who's around
Show me what you do when all the lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
We feel so alive when all the lights go down
I feel on a high and I'm not comin down
Show me what you do when all the lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down (Ohhhhh)

[Bridge]
I can't imagine life without you he-e-ere (Without you he-e-ere)
I can see the light
It's getting cle-e-ear (It's getting cle-e-ear)

[Rap]
(Wooo!) Turn the lights off, yes turn the lights off
All haters fall cus I'm not goin soft
Silk ain't so slick I liked the photo
Thought you would win but not really though
I once was lost but now I am found
And I-I-I-I never fell off still got the cro-o-own

[Chorus]
We feel so alive when all the lights go down
We dance like a fool not caring who's around
Show me what you do when all the lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
We feel so alive when all the lights go down
I feel on a high and I'm not comin down
Show me what you do when all the lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down
Lights go down (Ohhhhh)

Produced By: Giovanni Rose-Hilton
Length: 3:59
Genre: Electropop, R&B, Electronic Rock

Song Description:

Moody and heavily synth, starts this R&B and electronic inspired song. Adding into the mixture of Izzy's vocals are introduced with her vocalizing in what sounds like a distorted playing of her voice. As she begins to sing the first verse, a simple drum is now playing as the medium tempo song continues. She sings in a soft voice, low at first, then getting seemingly higher by the next verse. As she goes into the next part of the song, she's in her low voice once again which then turns to high while vocalizing once more. The beat sounds like it were from an old video game as the instrumental plays, we gets this feeling. Izzy sings with a determination in her voice and as she sings the outro, you can hear hurt in her voice as if she were going through a bad break up or something. This is the highlight of the song as she sings with such passion to end the song with.

Quote:
"This was a very emotional song for me to sing. It's a song I wrote for my mother after she had lost her baby. I didn't talk much about it and neither did she but you could definitely see the pain she had in her eyes for a while after it happened. Fall From Grace is essentially me talking about my baby sister, whom we lost, and it's just me kind of lashing out and saying what I thought. I was thinking that it wasn't fair that this happened to my mother or my family. I was kind of getting emotional in the song because it was sad for me to think about what could have been and what didn't happen. I was also trying to say how my mother was feeling or what any woman would feel had this happened to them. It talks about the pain and the dreams getting crushed. I was also referring to how she didn't get to grow or see the world and it's just a terrible thing for anyone to go through.

This was probably the fastest song I wrote on the entire album just because it wasn't hard for me to describe how I was feeling about it. I'm not sure if my mother or family would listen to this song because even though it happened some months ago, it's still a touchy subject to them but I've gotten better and I can talk about it which is why I made this song in the first place. I just wanted to make something that people who have lost any child can really relate to because it's a touchy subject and there's no real way to get over it. The title of the song was going to be called what my mother was going to name our baby sister, 'Daniella' but I thought it would be better to leave it as is."

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Destined like a light that would burn bright
Suddenly things changed when that dream died
In her arms, In her arms

Nothing is her fault yet she takes the blame
Over and over it's just a shame
A broken name, A broken name

Oooooooh-oh oh oooooooh oh oh oh ohhhhhhhhh
(She fell from grace)

[Verse 2]
Stuck inside the womb with no way to fight
Mama never got to hear her baby cry
And so it goes, And so it goes, Yeah

It doesn't seem true, doesn't seem true
Tore the poor mother's heart into two
She had no clue about the world, never experienced it as a girl

[Chorus]
Feeling like your empty, no life
Wanna go far away and hide
From all the pain, yes take away all the pain
Feeling like your empty, no life
Wanna go far away and hide
From all the pain, just take away all the pain
So go tell the world, Don't you cry a tear for me
Don't you dare be sad for me, It's just how it's gotta be
And let me know, that you'll always be there for me
But don't you dare be sad for me, It's just how it's gotta be

Oooooooh-oh oh oooooooh oh oh oh ohhhhhhhhh

[Outro]
Then she fell from grace, yeah she fell from grace
Never knowing her place, yeah she fell from grace
Then she fell from grace, Ooooooooh never knowing her place, ooooooooh
She just fell from grace

Katie: Can I say that, as a mother, it made it so hard to listen to Fell From Grace, that was an incredibly emotional song, and I respect you immensely for even having the courage to get into the studio and sing about it. You are a great artist, and your lyrics in this song were wonderful.

OOC: Great work again. Probably the best album RP done on here for a good while :)

Song Description:

A quirky mix of squiffy vocal effects, pulsing club beats and Izzy's cute vocals finally bring the mood of the album back up again. Starting off with Izzy in a distorted like voice with a pulsating beat in the beginning, this transitions into a full on club beat with Izzy repeating the end lyric in the chorus, giving the song a full effect. Izzy then sings the next verse as the last, repeating the ending to each last word of the line. Her voice sounds fun and inviting but also it has some edge to it. She then goes into the bridge of the song where the beat is breaking down and seems to be getting to the climax of the song. A crazy house breakdown gets us back into the chorus as the song rounds up. Izzy is heard laughing at the end of the track, leaving an echoing effect.

Quote:
"I really love this song, it's so much fun to listen to and sing along with. Basically the song is me speaking on how sometimes labels want you to act a certain way or be a certain way in order for you to be successful. I have been been through that and I'm really happy that I'm not going through that now. It's me saying 'No I won't write what you tell me to, I won't dress the way you want me to, I'm my own person'. It's something I encourage actually, individualism. I don't think it's a bad thing if you wanna be like someone or maybe act like someone but I'm not a fan of letting that define someone. I was writing and Gia was like talking to me, saying that I should make this type of record and so I tried to get mad at her so I could write the song and it worked! (Laughs)

Gia came up with the beat and she wanted this to be a super fun song so all the effects were her idea and I heard them, fell in love. The song practically wrote itself, it's like a whole different persona in that song. I loved being different and doing something this crazy. The beat and the tempo are just insane and it's meant to be a dance, club-like song. This is another song that almost didn't make it but I really fought for this song because I think the album is the perfect place to put it."

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
The time, time has changed and so has your mind, mind
I guess I better play nice, nice, I'll fight your fire with ice, ice
Yeah, my, my senses are telling me I,I had better
Get away, ay, before you try to take, take
What you need
You wanna try to control me so I can be
What you envision is the perfect me
But I won't let you do what you wanna do
Because I'm here to let you know I won't be

[Chorus]
I won't be your Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon Copy
Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon Copy
Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon Copy
You tried to make a fool out of me, Time to cut the rope so I can be free
I won't be your copy

[Verse 2]
Now I, I, want you to swallow your pride, pride
Don't make me copy a life, life, to give you what you like, like, no
You wanna try to control me so I can be
What you envision is the perfect me
But I won't let you do what you wanna do
Because I'm here to let you know I won't be

[Chorus]
I won't be your Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon Copy
Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon Copy
Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon Copy
You tried to make a fool out of me, Time to cut the rope so I can be free
I won't be your copy

[Bridge]
There's no sense in you trying to make me be someone I'm not
Can't you just be glad and grateful for all the talent that I've got?
But I won't let you do what you wanna do
Because I'm here to let you know I won't be

[Chorus]
I won't be your Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon Copy
Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon Copy
Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon Copy
You tried to make a fool out of me, Time to cut the rope so I can be free
I won't be your copy

You wanna try to control me so I can be-e-e-e
What you envision is the perfect me-e-e-e
But I won't let you do what you wanna do-o-o-o
Because I'm here to let you know I won't be

Your Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon Copy
Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon Copy
Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon-Carbon Copy
You tried to make a fool out of me, Time to cut the rope so I can be free
I won't be your copy

Song Description:

Mirror is a pop song that carries characteristics of dance-pop and pop rock, switching up from her happy go lucky feel to a more sad and rock feeling. Their vocals alone makes the track reason enough to listen. It features aggressive guitar and drum lines powered by bloopy synths. The song is really catchy and features both Merjos's and Armstrong's sassy vocals singing the lyrics. The song portrays what seems to be not being able to get over a break up, as the two keep being reminded of him. The two's vocals bounce off of one another and really work well together, Jen's strong voice with Izzy's delicate and edgy voice. This is definitely a collaboration that was bound to happen and the fans were waiting for. The two of them have created themselves a classic Pop-Rock track.

Quote:
"I really enjoyed working with my best friend on this track, it's absolutely amazing to work with someone who you know and trust to be on this song with you. She really made the track jump to me and her voice has always been strong and really soulful which seem to really fit in with the rock sound of the song. It was essentially a finished song but I wanted to add someone else to it and I knew that Jen would be perfect for the song and then I told her and she recorded her vocals. The song is about not being able to let go of someone and they always seem to appear everywhere like when you're looking a mirror, you see their reflection all the time.

It's kind of weird, singing a break up song but with a happy feel to it. Gia and Sunny really helped me write this song, most of it actually. I wrote the chorus and the first verse but then I got stuck and that's when they jumped in to help. Sunny has this way of being able to get you to tell how you're feeling with words on paper. She really can get the best out of someone and it's portrayed through the song. To me, she's a lyrical genius and she really deserves a lot of credit for this album and helping me out like Gia did."

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Sitting alone in my room pondering where we went wrong
Now I'm wasting my time by writing this hopeless love song
They say that it's better to express just how you feel
Everyone's felt that feeling of pain you don't want to be real
You just close your eyes sing some lullabyes and pray for the best
And you hope that one day you'll lift the burden off your chest
Pacing, turning, biting your nails, your patience never fails
Yearning, burning, slowly learning how to get out of your own hell

[Chorus]
So now I've taken off the chains that you put on me
I see everything so clear
And not a day goes by for you or I
When I'm wishing that you were still here
Cause I see your face (In the mirror)
Yeah I see your face (In the mirror)
Oh, how can I get by when not a days goes by
For you or I
When I'm wishing you were still here
Cause I see your face (In the mirror)
Oh, Oh

[Verse 2]
It's really messed up how love hurts but it can also heal
Never knowing which you're gonna get so you can deal
The things that I thought were good for me turned out to be poison
I made the mistake of letting my guard down and throwing all my cards in
Not leaving anything to imagination so you got what you want
One day those terrible times will come back to haunt, you
Falling, fastly, always nasty when your try to dust yourself off
Crazy, maybe, that's how you made me now I'm not so soft

Oh, Oh

[Bridge]
I've spent enough time dwelling on you, missing us
Wasn't meant to be, there was no point, there was no trust
And at night I sleep I think of you
And all you do
Things you never would do

Oh, Oh
