Wont Be Denied Plays First Gig in 4 yearsIndianapolis Star - Local rockers Wont Be Denied surprised the Wednesday night regulars at Birdies Bar and Grille with a 60 minute set. While it wasn't full of pyrotechnics and other special effects like many of their shows, it wasn't exactly a stripped down acoustic set either. With a corner of the bar covered by a black tarp as if construction was about to be worked on, bar patrons were shocked when out of nowhere the lights and jukebox went out. A metal version of the intro to Buddy Rich's Channel One Suite is heard from behind the tarp. As the lights come back on the tarp dropped to show none other than Wont Be Denied. While their set showed some signs of rust they played tight for the most part. They played 6 songs which lead singer Mike Williams said all of which were in the process of being re-recorded and even hinted at a special guest appearance or two from current starts.
Setlist:
Wont Be Denied
Dimebag
Drunken Encounter
Hidden Agenda
Wartorn
All But Fucked
An interview with Mike Williams Of WBDNuvo Magazine: For people who have not heard the sound of Wont Be Denied, how would you describe it?
Quote:I would call it Thrash mixed in with a little Groove Metal. All 4 of us grew up pretty much listening to the same shit. Our influences include the big 4 of thrash: Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth. Weather or not you call them thrash anymore, that's up to you. We mix that in with some Coal Chamber, Devildriver, with some Pantera thrown in for good measure.
Nuvo Magazine: What are you plans in the near future for your comeback?
Quote:I think we're going to play some local shows first, get our chops back. Then probably hit the studio and record a few singles, then hit the road more nationally, and finally make that jump overseas.
Nuvo Magazine: A few singles? So no albums in the future?
Quote:I think we might be done recording albums. A lot of times album's only have a few good singles and the rest filler, and we don't want to be that band. When we get 10 or 12 good singles released then maybe we'll release a greatest singles record *laughs* I just think the way things are with kids these days, they just can't handle the albums and the way we record em these days. You gotta remember our songs tend to be 7-10 minutes long, then multiply that by 10 songs that's almost 90 minutes of music. People just got too much shit to do to listen to a record that long anymore
Nuvo Magazine: Any new songs written yet?
Quote:No, I think our first few singles are going to be re-recordings of some of our older material. We want to get the fans here re-acclimated to it, and show it to the rest of the world as we plan on doing this bigger this time and tour the world.
