It's been 4 months since we've last heard music from the pop star. After releasing the first #1 album of the year, Hannah's stardom seemed to be going uphill. Considered a veteran in the music world giving us an astounding 21 singles released with only 3 albums and 2 #1's, some might call her one of the most underrated singers to grace the industry, but she makes no fuss. Her last album, Identity received numerous ratings and generous comments for it being one of the few double disc album's with original material and no re-releases like most 2 disc albums. It also left her mark in the music world as people started to take more notice of the singer and her talent. The noticeably quiet 24 year old is one of few artists who aren't in the spotlight all the time and is solely about her music. While being in the industry for a little over 3 years now, Hannah has set records, broken records and earned the respect of her music peers as an artist. Her single 'Animal' was one of the best selling singles of 2010 and her highest charting single to date.
Hannah has since then grown up from the immature, party girl she was when she first started out. Not only did she grow, but her music did as well. The personal struggles Hannah has endured could be credit to her success but Hannah has always remained the humble, beautiful, strong lady she debuted as. Her last single, You, I, Wind, And Sea quickly fell off the charts but she's back once again to put up a fight. She's back now and ready to get back into her music before she disappeared for a few months. Her new single, 'Sunshine' will be the lead single from her new album which is TBA at the moment but is to come late December or early January. This marks a new era in Hannah's life, one she calls her most inspiring and captivating one. She even has a different sound than before. The single is a perfect example of her venturing out into another field of music, one for Indie Pop. The almost dark and depressing sound is one that Hannah has now adapted into her own music. This will mark Hannah's 22nd single she's released, ever!Song Description The song was written by Hannah some years ago but was never chosen to be released until now. She chose this as her first single to debut because it was fresh and it was a representation of her new album. The new tune also marks the 3rd year of her being in the industry. It seems like the young start has been around for so long! Time flies when you're making music. After the success of her younger brother Hayden, and her younger cousin, Isabel, Hannah now joins in with the family in making more music. Instead of a more positive image she usually goes for, this single is more personal and heartbreaking. Starting off with a soft, lone piano playing, the mood is somber and depressing. There's no happy feeling from this tune at all, only sadness and despair. Hannah's soft and delicate vocals sing over the piano as it leaves an echo. She sings each line slowly and her voice fades from the words rather than just singing them. Joining in with the mix is a harp and some violins, giving it a rather dreamy and dreary effect.
Going into the chorus of the song, the strings all have a vibrancy to them as the sound gets dramatically louder and almost overbearing but Hannah's voice still shines over the record. Her perfect falsetto pitch covers the instruments accordingly. The second verse calls for her dreary, alto voice again. It's almost as if she were conveying her emotions just with the pitch, the chorus being the highlight of the song and the more emotional part as the verses were just the bread on the sandwich. You can feel the sadness in Hannah's voice as she sings this song which suddenly becomes a tale of herself. The song itself is about being forced into an unhappy situation but also coming out of that situation. It also goes on to express her becoming stronger and more protective over herself, this being portrayed in the lines, 'Grudges from a mother scorned, your sweet rose has grown it's thorns'.Quote:"Each verse is like a different part of my life. The first being when I was really down and I felt that I was alone. I wanted to get out of the situation, I tried but I wasn't strong enough yet. I couldn't overcome it and by the second verse, I slowly was learning about myself. I was questioning why I was doing the stuff I was doing and I could feel myself pulling away until the third verse where I'm stronger and wiser. It's a song about perseverance and not giving up. I feel that sometimes people get challenges in their paths and they just wanna give up so badly but instead some people choose to keep going and then they finally get the results they want. It could be about a relationship that's failing or maybe someone you're losing, either way it's a song that everyone can relate to. I wrote this back when I was going through everything with my mother and she just pushed me all the time to the point I felt like there was no point fighting her anymore.
I kept remembering my father and what he would have wanted. When he passed, I promised to honor him in any and every way I could. He would've wanted me to fight back and so I did. The sound is different from my usual songs because it's really sad and dreary, almost too dreary to the point where it alters your own mood but it was the only way it could have been done. I think that sometimes people don't like to think about the bad things in life but regardless if we do or not, they still happen so we might as well prepare. It's an encouraging song. My new album will be more personal and my own life tale rather than making up stories for entertainment. I really want this album to be all about me. My last album you got a sense of my own Identity but this album will show me in a different light. I hope everyone enjoys the song and can learn from it too." [Lyrics]
[Verse 1] Same old stuff but a different day, nothing moves and nothing changes Save yourself my heart pleads, loving you is not what I need Always doing what I'm told, must be clear that it get's old Tell myself that I should leave, loving you is not what I need Yes I tell myself that I should leave, because baby you're not what I need
[Chorus] I'll wait until the sunset Staying ready just as the love dies Side by side I'll live the life you once had I'll give you yours if you give mine No more runs, too late to hide Side by side, I'll live the life you once had Until it's right, I'll wait for the sunset
[Verse 2] Broke myself while pleasing you, questioning the things that I will do Never knew what I could be, loving you is not what I need Find myself always astray, quickly always found my way Know it hurts every day I breathe, loving you is not what I need I know it hurts you when I breathe, but loving you is not what I need
[Chorus] I'll wait until the sunset Staying ready just as the love dies Side by side I'll live the life you once had I'll give you yours if you give mine No more runs, too late to hide Side by side, I'll live the life you once had Until it's right, I'll wait for the sunset
[Verse 3] Grudges from a mother scorned, your sweet rose has grown it's thorns Looking back I finally see, loving you is not what I need Take me back to simple times, the ones I find so divine Love me now or leave well alone, made my bed in my own home Finding out that yes indeed, loving you is not what I need
[Chorus] I'll wait until the sunset Staying ready just as the love dies Side by side I'll live the life you once had I'll give you yours if you give mine No more runs, too late to hide Side by side, I'll live the life you once had Until it's right, I'll wait for the sunset
[Chorus] I'll wait until the sunset Staying ready just as the love dies Side by side I'll live the life you once had I'll give you yours if you give mine No more runs, too late to hide Side by side, I'll live the life you once had Until it's right, I'll wait for the sunset Until it's right, I'll wait for the sunset Until it's right I'll wait for the sunset But loving you is not what I need.. The fact that we write entire albums all on our own while the biggest stars in the world have 45 co-writers on ONE track?? Where the hell are OUR record deals and GRAMMYS?" -BrownSugar |
