Release Date: September 30, 2012 Format: CD Single, Digital Download, Weekly Airplay Recorded: Blackbird Studio, Nashville, Tennessee Genre: Alternative Rock, Country Length: 3:57 Label: Studio60 Records! Writer: Ellie-Grace Summers Producers: Ellie-Grace Summers, Ryan Williams, Julian Morello ‘All The Beautiful Things (feat. Ryan Williams)’ is the fifth official single by 20 year-old American country singer-songwriter ‘Ellie-Grace Summers’ and it serves as the second single from her sophomore record ‘Too Far From Home’ following on from her previous single ‘Wishing You Would’. It was recorded between mid to late July 2012 at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Tennessee alongside the ‘Misery Loves Company’ frontman and songwriter ‘Ryan Williams’ who had become friends with the young country singer over the previous couple of months prior to the songs formation after discovering similar music influences and a shared apprehension of living in California and the lifestyle that comes with it. The single was written by Ellie-Grace in early July with the view to having the ‘MLC’ frontman provide the male vocals on the track providing she could persuade him to be part of it, it was produced by both vocalists and producer for her entire album ‘Julian Morello’ who also happens to play a major role at the label that the young country singer is signed to. The track has been described by reviewers as the perfect combination with Rolling Stone stating “The powerful southern-rock tinged vocals from Ryan Williams combine perfectly with the beautifully soft country tone that Summers has become known for and in turn makes this collaboration sound like a match made in music heaven”. The single will be released to Airplay from September 27, 2012 and will be available to purchase from September 30, 2012 through Itunes, Amazon, Ellie-Grace.com and Studio60 Records. BACKGROUNDThe song was written in early July 2012 by Ellie-Grace Summers at her home in Nashville, Tennessee as she was writing the songs for the recording of her sophomore album ‘Too Far From Home’ which was later released in August 2012, according to Ellie-Grace in a recent interview the song was one of the earlier songs that she had written, claiming that it was perhaps the fourth song written for the albums, in the interview she went on to talk about her decision to include a collaboration on the album “I’m a little apprehensive when it comes to collaborations on my own work because I prefer to feel like it’s entirely my work, I’ve always been very independent and not reliant on other people and so that is something that has continued into my career, I’m not the sort of musician that wants to have a whole list of producers, co-writer’s and guests featuring on my work because I like the thought that what I put out is entirely my own creation with perhaps the help and guidance of a producer, but sometimes you feel like you just need something slightly different, I did it once on my debut album where I had Hayden feature on a track called ‘Paint Me A Picture’ and I did it once on this second album with Ryan on ‘All The Beautiful Things’, other than those two songs everything on both albums have been songs written and performed entirely by myself and I’m proud of that fact.”The song is a country and southern rock influenced track with Ellie-Grace playing acoustic guitar at the opening of the song as Ryan Williams begins his vocals and as the song slowly builds throughout, it comes to its most energetic moment when Ryan Williams begins to play a wailing electric guitar riff as Ellie begins singing her lyrics with her trademark country vocals, providing emotion as she sings about the incredible feeling that the male in the song makes the female feel, it’s a song that mixes a tender softness with power and emotion, lyrically it’s quite a simple song that creates the emotion with ease and the production values are extremely crisp and clear as you’d expect from the work of mainstream recording artists and the state of the art surroundings that the track was recorded in. It was reported early on that the track was written by Ellie with Ryan Williams in her mind as the male vocalist on the track after the two became friendly with one another over the summer and she recently spoke about how the collaboration happened, “I’ve been a big fan of Ryan’s ever since I heard Misery Loves Company’s debut album, they took everybody like surprise when they put that record out there and i had my debut album released a couple of months later, so we sort of came into the industry at a similar time, both of our debut’s sold over five million copies and I think we both didn’t expect anything like those numbers but despite us being in a similar situation we never really got the opportunity to meet until earlier this year, but we bonded over our similar influences, I think we’re both big Tom Petty freaks and we’re a lot similar than I’d have probably expected, anyway we sort began to speak often throughout the summer and became friends and I dropped a few hints here and there when we spoke about the track and he asked if I would send him the lyrics and chords to the song which I did and he really seemed to like it, I think his exact words were “If you find the right male voice for that track then you’ve got yourself a huge song right there” he mentioned how it sorta reminded him of the Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks collaborations and finally I asked him if he’d be interested in recording the track with me. He was about to go on tour in a couple of weeks with his band on the Carnival of Sounds tour and so it was important for us to get the song done before he went away otherwise it wouldn’t have been able to be included on the album, anyway he came down to Nashville and spent three days here and we luckily managed to get the track recorded pretty quickly and then that was pretty much it.”LYRICSRyan Williams – Dark BlueEllie-Grace Summers – PurpleThere’s a whole world waiting for you outside of your window You should take your chances while you’re still young There’s no use in hiding away for fear of falling It’s time for you to decide which person you’ve become It’s time to take your chances while you’re still young
