Yesterday night a video of R&B dropout Chanel surfaced the internet of her singing one of her original songs acapella. She was most known for her big vocal style in hits like ' Basket of Roses' and ' All I Ever Wanted' back in 2011. It looks like she is in the studio as a slow piano approches her and she stares at the camera and holds a black mic with headsets over her ears, we only hear the piano for a while until a conversation takes place with someone unknown. Chanel vocals live were flawless but you will have to hear them for yourself in the video below:
[VIDEO 4:06] ACAPELLA- CHANEL ; I LEARN FROM YOU The video begins with Chanel laughing, her sweet and soft laugh touches the viewers because they miss the sweet and humble indivivial that learned a lot from her mother in music. She starts to laugh to a man's voice laughing along.
" Oh my god, you are crazy.." she looks down at the floor and smiles. " I never thought I'll be doing music again after what happened..." the man voice agrees with a mum. " I'm so excited about this record... " The camera does a close up of Chanel's flawless dark skin, her hair is up in a ponytail with a short black casual dress on and gold flats. She smiles at the camera and blows a kiss to it, looking as if she is getting nervous as sounds of the piano is playing in a low register notes, very sweet but beautiful. " You getting me in the mood Blake.. that's good.. right there.." he continues to play lower keys in the piano. " I like that..." she nods her head along with the soft playing and also closes her eyes and grabs the mic, rocks side to side and smiles. " You like that.." the man asks. She continues to rock side to side and then all of the sudden, a very relaxed but powerful high falsetto voice is heard miming thought the mic, she rocks and feels the melody as the sweet but powerful toned vocalist apporches the first live note to her doing a short soulful riff, but cuts it short, controls the notes with her laying down her falsetto in a soft low register. " I'm so nervous.." she puts her hand over her mouth and continues to rock. " Just like when you were a kid.. you use to do that same damn rocking you doin' now.. what did your mom always told you.." the camera does a close-up.. " never refine your destiny..." she looks away while the piano is still playing, creating an sentimental moment between the pianist and Chanel. " Exactly. You can do this.. go ahead... kill them girl." he said. She smiles, going back towards the front of the mic, closes her eyes and then starts to sing with the camera going back to a closeup.
The falsetto voice that she has developed so well in the last few months is so raspy but very sharp, elegant and smooth, her vocals in this falsetto tone relaxes you but makes you think about the soulful and in depth lyrics she wrote herself. The piano stops and she takes off her headsets, she looks into the camera with her eyes low and her eyebrow up, rising up her soft palette to do some low belting for her vocals to be in full, healthy and powerful.
You can't take the words back on what you said. You said it twice when I was so confused in my bed. What's the point of fighting for you?
She pauses, holding her chest as her chest moves up, her breathing methods are just as powerful, she breathes to her belting note over the mic is raging though the emotions and soul she gives us in this next line.
I just dont know the downfall, the things we been though, I had to damn near give up on you, but I know my heart is to strong to let the lies chose. I can just forget about you, but will tomorrow be as happy?
She ends " happy" with a soft note, closing her eyes to the piano stopping and her singing in a open mouth vocal method, she belts out short and sharp notes in the chorus, while giving us her hand movements towards her heart and she points to the camera, feeling the emotions she chooses out though the chorus to take it slow and easy on her vocals, slowing down the pace and taking her time, not rushing- but she then ends the last note of the chorus, that shows Chanel as a true vocalist to a high note to her taking it down in a scale to a deep register.
Next time I wont be there, to learn from the best. When the best was so worst, I learn from the best. All you give me, was the most never enough, just the worst. It seems you dont care as my heart breaks evenly, Not time I wont be there, to learn from the best, when the best was so worst, I learn from the best, baby, I learn from you.
She grabs the mic and looks down, moving closer to the mic, her vocals are low and soft, she sings more into her lower register, as her mouth touches the mic, she is still relaxing as she her hands are by her side, she puts her head to the side and opens her eyes slowly, she grins.
Where is that I have learned? the next love I got played me like a fool, I never thought this will happen again. I should have learned from the beginning. Now I'm back with you.
She starts to belt out riffs and runs, bouncing up and down as she belts out the riffs, giving the chills and giving us the soft, breaking the notes, something being strain in her vocals but we see the real voice inside of Chanel, she rocks and then she grabs the mic and moves it from left to right, as she belts out the chrous, intending her arms on each side, closing her eyes and smiling at the same time while singing the chrous.
Yes, oh baby! she screams the last line of the chrous, she shakes her body. She talks into the mic, " see, this is where it all begins.."
she sings in the low register again.
I learn..
she pauses and breathes.
From youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu as she drags and holds the note in a elegent slow matter and when she is down, she waves to the camera as the video is over, leaving us speechless.
What do you think about this video of Chanel's raw vocals?
