After (shockingly) hitting number one on the digital chart with her debut single "Locked Up", Sophia is looking for more success with her very own Christmas song, titled "Warm You Up". In a festive period where the old Christmas classics are being repeated on the radio, Sophia comes along with an original song of her own and shows that she's more than capable of spreading a little Christmas cheer. GirlSpice haven't been shy of releasing a few Christmas tracks over the years, they released "Cold Christmas" featuring Birds of Madness years ago, before releasing a 2.0 version years later. They also put out a cover of The Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping" just last year.
Now going at it alone, Sophia could very well become another breakout solo star from GirlSpice if the success continues throughout to next year, which will see her release her very first debut solo album. However, impatient fans will have "Warm You Up" to tide them over till then. It's everything you'd ask for in a feel-good festive track, opening with an instrumental of trombones, trumpets and sleigh bells for around roughly thirty seconds, before kicking into a dance-pop club track. Sophia may not be the best vocalist in GirlSpice, in fact she could be the worst, but her voice has always suited well to the pop songs she's sung over the years, and this is no different.
The pre-chorus starts slow and quiet where Sophia is joined by a large choir singing with her, almost whispering the first line. With each line that passes, an extra instrument joins in and the vocals increase in volume, before the final line is shouted out joyfully before bursting into a chorus full of loud sleigh bells, chimes and synths. From there, the song remains just as upbeat and cheerful throughout the second verse, Sophia's vocals sounding slightly seductive while she sings the suggestive lyrics. The following pre-chorus and chorus are in the same vein as the first, before the song slows down again for the middle-eight where Sophia sings with nothing but a backing of church bells. The song builds up once more from there, before the final chorus hits where the choir sing along with her, the track coming back to life and sounding as uplifting and festive as ever. The outro plays out for roughly thirty seconds, the trombones, trumpets and sleigh bells heard again until it slowly fades to silence.
