Trent giving his all in Shadowmachine's first live performance

Trent, Derrick, Gabe and Teresa take the stage to mild applause from the audience, but mostly just drunken leers. "All right.." Trent says. "We're Shadowmachine, and we fucking suck!" he declares. Derrick follows with a thunderous drum roll, and Teresa begins playing a slow, creeping bass synth line as they start in on their first song.

Trent prowls about the stage like he's ready to pounce and kill an audience member at any time. Gabe's guitar squeals with reverb as he shakes it and presses it to his amp.

Trent picks up the microphone stand and throws it into the audience, while the club manager looks at him dirtily. Trent responds by giving him the finger, and the crowd roars with approval.

The band start wailing on their instruments until the song is basically noise, and they segue uninterrupted into the second song. "This one you might know," Trent says. Teresa starts in on the grimy, winding synth hook.

Abruptly, one of Derrick's drumsticks break, and he tries to finish off the song halfassedly. Instead of it working out, the song slows to a grinding halt, as he sheepishly runs outside to grab another stick. While he's gone, Gabe starts strumming the beginning to "Let's Go!" and the crowd responds positively. "Let's see Teresa!" one of the crowd members shouts. "I don't know," Trent says. "Teresa, you want to do a song?" he asks.
