For years the Reard hards was the main punk rock band in Romania, the stories and rumors wandered around, the fans and the band never took themselves too seriously and they had a huge hit which was probably their most serious song about a couple falling in love and dying in Iraq, the band never got too political, but also never got too polished. It's been a few years since they released music and they've hardly been themselves, they've just been living off the little money they made in they hay-day, and played a few shows now and then. Recently they've done a few tours in Romania and Germany and they've already reached the same level of popularity that they had in Romania back in the day. The band still has the same bandmembers even though the drummer and the lead guitarist have changed their names because they couldn't remember the old ones, and frankly, they were a bit too silly. The drummer now goes by Robin Banks and the bassist goes by Gory I Lids, while Poo Peter(the bassist) and The Bitch(guitarist and lead singer)still go by their same name. We had a chat with The Bitch to see what's new with the band....


First off how has it been playing again and how has the audience responded?

It's been lots of fun, we've done a few covers and old classics and we've tried out a new song as well. The audience hates us just as much as they did back in the day. We played Don't regret me and the Bitch(my theme song, laughs) and they went as crazy as they always did.

Are there any differences now then when you first started?

Quite a few, we were silly back when we started, we did a lot of stupid shit people do when they're young. We've learned from some of our mistakes, but we're still not very political correct nor do we take ourselves too seriously, a lot of what we did back in the day was making fun of Stereotypes we thought people had of Romanians, but we also somewhat fit into the stereotypes ourselves, the biggest difference is that Gory I Lids has picked up the Banjo and plays it on some of the songs.

What kind of things did you do?

We used to fuck each others sisters and girlfriends and drink moonshine and did lots of drugs, not saying we still aren't doing some of these things, but we've grown up a bit, but we've also become more immature in other ways. There's an old saying that when a man picks up a banjo he looks like an old man, but he also looks like a very small child. It's the irony of life.

What part of your career do you consider a highlight and do you see yourself reliving it?

Somewhat releasing our first album was great and putting out songs like Don't regret me, Cun Ted, Bulls hit and The Bitch was huge for us, we had no idea what we were doing and the songs sounded shitty, but some of those songs are staples in our setlists. But the album "We did this album only for the money"(which is almost stolen from Frank Zappa's album)was a huge success, we scored 3 huge singles from it and some more, I doubt that we'll have or that we even want to have that kind of success again though, it was a good time still!

Last question, are there plans of new records?

We've recorded a song and it doesn't sound too good, it's in our old punkstyle and we just thought we'd record something again, we plan on making a bluegrass album! But we haven't started writing or recording it yet! We're working on ideas as we play! We're still lazy assholes.
