"Sometimes the criminal justice system causes more problems than it solves."Matthew Stodden (Scott RH) is a humble and largely unspectacular accountant who has everything going for him. Recently married to his high school sweetheart Lori and living in a suburban home left to her by her grandparents, everything in Matthew's world is rosy. He dreams of nothing more than having the perfect career and the idyllic nuclear family, until a heartbreaking incident not only turns his life on its head, but sets into motion a series of events that puts the entire criminal justice system, and everything it stands for into doubt.
The Art of Justice is a tale of desperation, heartbreak and retribution as Stodden recovers from time in prison that changed him in ways no one could have imagined. Seeking revenge for those he believes conspired to put him behind bars and haunted by the ghosts of his past (both literally and figuratively), he embarks on a cross-country journey to seek out and question the one person who has the answers to all of his questions.
Assisted on his quest by a disgruntled police officer with an agenda, and kept from going insane by his psychiatrist - the only other person who knows the darkest truths about him - Matthew has no intention of returning to the penal system that changed who he is forever, and even less intention of going back to the person he used to be. Driven on by one emotion only, he lives and breathes through his hatred as he vows to achieve his new found dreams and goals.
In a race against time, Matthew must carry out what he needs to do before the justice system catches up with him again. He must right the wrongs of long ago and redress the balance in a world where the innocent are punished. This show will change the way you view the justice system, leave you questioning the morals of the system and leave with a dilemma that questions the very moral fabric of right and wrong.
The Art of Justice is the first TV project of legendary guitarist and vocalist Scott RH. The 28-year-old Brit, who has also owned and produced record labels and magazines under the guise of Chaos Media Group has expressed his intention in the past to get into the world of acting, and with his own pilot episode approved, will attempt to do so with his new masterpiece.
His debut writing project is as challenging and hard hitting as it is violent. It questions viewers and asks them to reassess all they know to be true in every episode, while bringing to life a story of heartbreak, broken families, betrayal, pain and retribution. With its dark aura and serious themes, the show will become a favourite with audiences who love gritty drama and trying themes.
CharactersCasting now open for all roles. OOC - PM me if you wish to have one of your characters involved in this and follow the IC advice mentioned before. I may take a few days to reply because I want to get the right characters for the right roles, so it will not be first come first served. I will try to include as many people as possible though, so don't be afraid to apply. ThanksMatthew Stodden - A popular and likeable accountant living in a suburban neighbourhood with his high school sweetheart and wife Lori. Matthew's life has been nothing short of average. Throughout school, he achieved a GPA of between 3.6 and 3.8, before moving on to unversity, where he would earn a second class bachelor's degree in accounting. His shift into the working world was simple and as unspectacular as every other aspect of his life, with his father providing the sort of contacts that allowed him to walk into a graduate-level job at one of America's biggest accountancy firms. He is a happy and cheery family man with everything to live for and nothing to desire. However, one incident turns his life upside down, and Matthew is incarcerated for a major felony which causes a psychological, emotional and physical change that no one could have foreseen. While on the surface he is seen to have quietly served his sentence, his time in jail has proved that the penal code can't work for everyone.
Cain Morgan - Cain Morgan is the identity of a former lawyer, down on his luck, who doesn't know how unfortunate he is about to become. Because of their similar look, his identity is stolen in the most violent of manners by Matthew, who then goes on to become Morgan. The alter-ego serves as a cover for the actions that will follow, and Matthew and Cain eventually become one and the same. Cain Morgan is not the same man who entered prison as Matthew Stodden, with violent tendencies, flash backs and illusions and visions haunting him. Far from wanting for nothing, Cain desires everything that was taken from him in his previous life. With accomplices and nothing to lose, Cain is a dangerous individual on levels that no one could anticipate. Cold, angry and calculating in character, he is everything that Matthew Stodden was not.
Lori Stodden - Seen as the perfect wife, Lori met Matthew in middle school. They dated from high school and married straight out of college. Lori is a home maker and the love of her husband's life. She becomes one of the muse's for his change, and her story is not all that it seems. Lori fails to visit her husband during his incarceration, and as a result, he seeks her on his release. She refuses to hide, not knowing just how different life has become for the man who used to see her as the apple of his eye. Life changes in ways she could never imagine when the dark secret she has carried for a decade and a half is finally revealed. Stars in flash backs and later becomes a leading character. At first, her character in the flash backs is a sweet, loving kind and generous wife, typical middle class American homemaker.
Hannah West - A police officer. She meets Matt/Cain along his way shortly after he has been released from prison. She is an attractive young woman who has been in the police force for merely a couple of years. However, she has become massively disillusioned with the profession because she feels she has been held back purely because she is a young woman, despite being fantastic as a cop. She is easily led astray as a result, and despite not initially being on the same page as Matt/Cain, she quickly changes her opinion of him. Along the way, they become somewhat closer through their frequent interactions, and her influence, power and access to certain things prove to be hugely important and useful. Very strong willed and sort of tough, yet still vulnerable. She swears a lot and is very confident, can take care of herself.
Andreas Muller - Andreas is a dead man who was the friend of Matthew Stodden in life. Following his crime and his release from prison, he is shocked to find that Andreas comes to him as a vision, almost lifelike. Andreas was very different to Matthew in life. He was an advocate of the dog-eat-dog world that encapsulates the business sector, and would stand on anyone's toes to get what he wanted, a tactic that he used to good effect. His gung-ho approach was to prove to be a contributing factor in his downfall. Rather than give advice to Matt, the vision tends to be the 'devil on his shoulder', a bad influence that appears in Matt's mind at the most opportune yet unfortunate moments. On screen, he appears as if in the rooms alongside Matt/Cain, who fails to disguise the fact that he can see something no one else can.
Cole Layman - The other of Matt's best friends from his pre-prison life, Cole Layman is a quiet and unassuming young man. Jumpy and nervous, he is the sort of person who likes to avoid confrontation. However, he also believes that people deserve everything they have coming to them, and has no problem in screwing someone over for his own advantage....as long as he doesn't get found out. Cowardly and ready to run whenever he needs to, Cole is clever and devious, slipping away from danger using his brain wherever possible. Has a sharp tongue and quick wit, even at times when he is in danger. However, he tries to slip under the radar as often as possible, and despite the fact he is often the centre of attention for women, he manages to do so for the most part, getting his own way without kicking up a fuss.
Evelyn 'Evie' Freud - One of the main love interests of Cain/Matt. She is the psychiatrist who is assigned to Matt at the time he is released from prison. They make a connection when he incessantly pokes fun at her surname. Aside from Hannah, she is the only person he feels he can truly confide in, and despite her official position with the police (as a psychiatrist), she fails to report any of the worrying instances in which he says suspicious things. She is a very attractive woman with little in the way of boundaries. Matt/Cain and she have frequent sexual encounters, which she uses as a way to work out the frustrations she has with her husband - he is a police captain, and she sees no better way to get at him than fucking an ex con. She is a confident professional, and is the only person who is never intimidated by the change in Matt or anything he says throughout their sessions. She portrays herself as a very strong woman who is always aware of her own desires and how to manipulate others in order to get that.
