Director: Tisha Jackson, Paul HunterTabloid reports have been something that Pop Princess Tisha Jackson has never really acknowledged before. However with the release ‘M.I.A.’ Jackson has tackled on her critics and the rumors regarding her life and career. In the songs music video Jackson addresses all of what’s in the song and more.
The video begins with Tisha opening her door to get her morning paper and the paper boy throws a bunch of tabloids on her door step. Jackson looks at him confusingly, knowing that none of these papers is her morning paper. She bends down and grabs the paper, and begins to read them. Jackson eyes explode as she reads headlines about herself, which are all fabricated. Jackson then begins to read them out loud…
“TISHA BACK IN REHAB”
“JACKSON: WHERE’S MY BEER?”
“JACKSON FIGHTS AT CLUB”
“TISHA HIRES ASSASIN TO KILL BRITANNY KNOX”
Tisha then begins to laugh. She covers her mouth because she is now laughing uncontrollably. Tisha says to herself out loud [As she looks into the camera]…
“Okay now, this shit has got outta hand”
Jackson throws the tabloids on the pavement and slams her door. The camera then cuts to the rest of the tabloids on the pavement that weren’t read. As you see all the fabricated headlines that has Jackson’s name attached to it, the beat for ‘M.I.A’ begins to play. The camera cuts to a tabloid...
The tabloid is titled, “The National Liar”. Tisha is on the cover and the cover reads, “Tisha: TOO THIN”.

Jackson is singing through the cover, giving you an abstract feel to the video. Jackson addresses many of her critics who have called her too thin, but the cover is meant to be ironic, as she is labeled “too thin” but is sporting a healthy frame. Jackson continues to sing, ‘M.I.A.’…
Jackson face then pops up on another tabloid. This one is called ‘Obsession’. ‘Obsession’ is reporting that Jackson is on a “Deadly Party Binge” as the magazine shows a picture of apparently screaming at photographers as she is exiting a club.

Jackson then comes to life through the tabloid and continues to sing. The tabloid is set to make her look as if she is acting erratically, however, the reason she is screaming in the picture is because a photographer steps on her foot while trying to get a picture of her.
The next tabloid is from “Tribune”. “Tribune” is reporting that Tisha is building a shrine in her home, in honor of her Idol Janet Jackson.
Tisha has always looked up to Janet and the media labels her as being “obsessed” of some sort. Jackson jokingly plays with reports of her fondness of Janet Jackson by actually featuring a shrine of Janet in the video. Jackson walks pass the shrine of a classic scene of Janet, from the ‘Scream’ video.

The next tabloid, “Weekly World” is now reporting that Jackson is reportedly heading back to rehab. The caption reads, “Jackson Back to Rehab.”
Jackson pokes fun at reports of her previous alcohol abuse and her stint at rehab. In which she told Oprah Winfrey in a recent interview, that she “hasn’t drank alcohol in seven months, and wish she would’ve went cold turkey, opposed to going to rehab”.

Tisha then rises out of the tabloids that exploit her name as a giant like figure. Fireworks pop in the air as she closes out the song, and stands tall, symbolizing her overcoming her adversities, and all lies fabricated about her through the media. The video ends with Jackson closing out the song and standing tall and the caption reading, “Rockstar Shit”
