I, Jason Smith, plan to talk about the bands we've chosen to go on tour with and why. In no particular order...
Sanitary TowelI don't actually think I need to explain why we chose them to go on tour with us. We never expected them to ACTUALLY support us. It's quite surreal. They are a legendary, influential and pretty inspirational band. It is pretty simple, without Sanitary Towel, there would be literally no Mind at all. They paved the way for us.
Gears of BremenIn terms of success and diversity, I feel as if Gears of Bremen are going to become an even better version of Mind. They can do practically any genre and their debut is one of my favourite albums in recent years. When we announced our reunion, GoB was practically the first band that we wanted to go on tour with. I think our styles will complement each other.
Fathers of FuryFathers of Fury are another band that we really wanted to tour with for a long time. They are probably one of the bigger rock bands around at the moment, and they are simply phenomenal. I mean, they have this unique quality to them and this distinct style. Even though they're becoming established, they will get even bigger.
Those Meddling KidsSadly underrated for such a great band. They are mostly rooted in punk rock, but have this brilliant folky side to them, which is what makes them so great. Rather than just sticking to normal, 3 chorded punk, they choose to twist it about into something truly brilliant. I mean, it's one of those rare punk fusions that works. And my god, it works.
The Sex KittensNow these guys are certainly... interesting. As well as possibly being the scariest band we'll ever work with, these guys can put on a hell of a show. Musically, they're not very compatible with us and we probably won't be able to truly appreciate them. On the other hand, they are very, very entertaining and are good for getting people pumped. In both ways, I presume. Anyway, I hope our crowd don't savage them too much.
