Description:

The debut single from Misery Loves Company is a deep pop-punk ballad. Some may think it to be an unusual choice of single due to the emotion used in it but the band felt it was the perfect representation on them as a band. Written about a bad break-up by lead singer Ryan Williams, the song opens with an acoustic guitar the only instrument playing combining with Williams' soft vocals provides us with deep emotion as we get sucked into his world with his heartfelt lyrics lyrics "We, used to say we would always be together // We, used to say nothing ever lasts forever". The songs real high point though comes 1 minute before the end when the song kicks into gear with the introduction of noise through guitars and drums. It was an unexpected turn in the song but one which the band pulled of admirably. Sounds Like:

Work In Progress is your typical pop-punk album filler. Beginning with an energetic guitar riff before bursting into flames through the use of Josh Heyler's fantastic drumming matches promptly with the base line created. Williams blasts into action and again his voice is perfect along with lyrics like "We are beginning to see the end // but i cant find the beginning". The downfall of this song is that it doesn't carry much emotion, neither does it sound like a song you can "mosh" too meaning it would be a hard song to pull off live. Valiant effort. Sounds Like:

Here is where the boys take off and go back to their high school parties. An energetic anthem in which the title has absolutely nothing to do with the song (You Need A Hit To Spell Shit). The production is a strong throughout the song which begins with Williams showcasing his vocal diversity with a light scream before the song kicks into action. Combining terrible lyrics with a catchy chorus really works for the boys here as they blurt out "Fuck everyone who didnt think we could make". Sounds Like:

This is a fantastic preview of what is to come from Misery Loves Company as the boys set their sites on a top 20 hit. Charts are looking competitive of late and the boys may struggle to make a real impact. One thing is for sure though, this band has got a very exciting future.
