How do,

Another little update from the busy bees in Herr Fische. We are close to finishing the Inevitable Cash In Reunion Tour and have played some amazing shows recently. My personal favourite was the Central Park show in New York. Man it was so cool to use Fische Ball in the open air with all our New York Freaks in such an incredible city!!! It was also cool to play at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas. After the gig Paul and Tom won a small fortune on the Roulette Wheel in Caesar's Palace but then he/we blew it all by the end of the night. Lets just say we were sooooo drunk!!! Anyhoo, album update. We are scheduled to start the proper recording sessions of 'We Have A Problem' on 25th July. Hopefully we can get through these in a couple of weeks or so maybe quicker and get it released. We know that some of you like the new stuff so we wanna play around with the demo's and rough tracks that we have got and tweak them Herr Fische style for the album versions. No idea what that will entail but Mr Unknown and Paul will probably come up with some totally space age shit that will confuse the fuck out of all of us. All I know is we've got a lorry full of instruments and we intend to use em all on the album!!! We have confirmed all of this with our TEA Records executive and we've been given the green light to go ahead with our plans without any hassle. We cannot wait to experiment again in the studio.

Anyhoo, a photo from the New York show for you which captures Fische Ball in full motion. Also below is the set list that we played for that show cos we know some of you like to know what we played. Enjoy

(OOC: Sorry for not being around lately and missing RP's etc. I've got the worst internet connection in my area atm plus i've been on holiday for a while!!! Sorry!)

How do,

It's been a while we know but we have been so fucking busy and stressed these last few months that we have had no time to update you all. Well for all of you info junkies out there we have some news. We have finally got to a stage where we can start proper recording sessions for the 'We Have A Problem' albums that we have been trying to complete for most of this year. Yay. The last few months have been a nightmare for us. After completing our Inevitable Cash In Re-Union Tour, we had a week or so break to relax etc as you would normally expect, We are allegedly humans after all!! We then had plans to enter the studio late in July to finally complete an album that we have been promising you guys since we reared our ugly heads again earlier this year. However, the demise of TEA Records the whole thing has been one big fuck up. The studio cancelled the sessions with no reason given. We still have had no explanation from them. Bastards!! This was obviously a major set back which we informed you long suffering fans about in our last post. We really struggle to manage both the business/legal side of the music business with the creative side of things which we obviously enjoy and love doing. We tried and tried to get studio time with other professionals and producers across the zooniverse but it was just too short notice. Then to add insult to injury, Mr Unknown had a fire at his home which destroyed some of the master copies of tracks we had completed and were ready to go. We also lost random off cuts from our older sessions which we liked to archive and return to every now and then. Most sadly, we lost Olga, our trusty Church Organ who has served us well through the last two Herr Fische albums (Behemoth and Zebra) and was a regular in our live performances. May she Rest In Pieces. As a result of the fire, we had to write and re-write in some cases new compositions which took more time and effort. In the mean time, Kii Kii and Suzzi were also trying to manage the business/legal aspects. We haven't had any luck with finding a new label although we are hopeful. They were successful in securing a couple of festival appearances, Festival De Musica which we played the other day (More on that in a bit) and Open Air Aftermath in September. Negotiations are taking place for a couple of other festival appearances so keep your beady little eyes peeled. Anyhoo back the boring story... So we had no studio and a depleted archive of material with which to work so things were looking grim. However, Suzzi and Helga returned from a short trip to their native Germany with good news. They had found a small independent music production team in Munich who were willing to hire out their studios to us. After careful negotiations and contracts etc, we have finally got a studio and a team to help finish our much delayed album for our beloved long suffering freaks. We will be hitting the studio at the end of the week and hope to complete it within a month or so. It's ambitious but we think that after all the shit we've had in the last few months we can rise to the challenge.

Anyhoo, as mentioned in that rambling sob story of excuses, we did manage to appear at the Festival De Musica over the weekend. We played to our Spanish friends at the awesome Nou Camp football stadium in the beautiful city of Barcelona. We were slightly late in arriving on stage due to Kii Kii getting lost whilst out shopping. As well as the slight delay, the crowd got a bit of an eyeful during the set when Kii Kii suffered a 'wardrobe malfunction', much to the delight of the male and lesbian members of the audience. As usual, we had a blast, playing old stuff like Donna Kebab (renamed Kii Kii's Kebab for the night in honour of said 'Wardrobe Malfunction'!)and a couple of new songs that we played on the tour such as Julie's Gondola and Mandolin Baby. I also had the chance to go crowd surfing in Fische Ball and was accosted by a naked female fan during our regular and popular dance off competition. It was bloody hot in that stadium so no wonder she got naked. It was a nice sight though!!! Well enough of me being a right perv. We will be keeping you updated at least weekly on the progress of the album etc. In the mean time, below is the set list from the other night at Festival De Musica and a photo of the naked stage invader and I. Kii Kii wouldn't let me put up any photos of the 'incident' as she calls it but i'm sure the tabloids will have a field day with them!!!

Set List: Festival De Musica, Sat 13th August

How Do,

We've finally got down to some serious recording sessions for our long delayed double album 'We Have A Problem'. After all the crap that we have had over the last year or so and being homeless still (no label to support us), we are hard at work and with a bit of luck we will have part 1 of the album finished in the next week or two. The album is coming together nicely, with some nifty production work going on courtesy of Suzzi and Helga's German friends Hans and Theo . We are currently in Munich and practically living in the recording booths at the moment. Hans is a stickler for getting us to work when we get into one of our collective lazy moods. The man is a genius. Dunno how he does it but somehow he has got us to think and work like we did when we first started out nearly 5 years ago*. This has meant a lot of work and led to more changes in the compositions of the rough tracks we already had laid down. However, we are right on schedule. We hope to have a single out by the time we play the Aftermath Festival on 3rd September and will have a rough idea of the track listing for part 1 in the next few days. As mentioned before, we have used a shit load of instruments on the album. It has been our dream to make an album which sounds like a schizophrenic nightmare but also very catchy and addictive. I'd like to say that we haven't disappointed. The album is sounding pretty strange so far and promise that people will like it or learn to like it. We promise that fans of our early stuff will relate to it and will love it (if we have fans left that is!!).

Anyhoo another rambling blog/post/whatever the fuck they are called over and done with. We may play a few shows very soon too. However, we will be focusing on the big hurdle of actually releasing an album instead of complaining about it all the time out of the way before we commit to any other plans.

Oh yeah and did I mention we were still homeless (without label). We feel unloved. Someone please take on this decrepit 16 legged freakshow. Spare some change????

Herr Fische Announcement/Apology

Just a little announcement and apology from us in Herr Fische.

We would like to apologise for the disappearance of Herr Fische and lack of updates. We realise that it has been at least 6 months since the last one. We decided to impose a hiatus on the band just after the Inevitable Cash In Re-Union Tour ended just to give us a little 'me' time for all involved in Herr Fische before embarking on the mammoth task of recording etc. We didn't want any publicity etc and music journalists hounding us for info, we just needed to chill otherwise we'd implode again. The last thing on our individual 'minds' was updates on our website and giving statements etc. However, we can now quite happily say that we are fully relaxed, refreshed and raring to go.

Some of us have been writing new material which may or may not appear on a future HF album. We have a carefully guarded archive of material which are at various stages of development that we currently are listening to. We may resume work on those at a future date. We have also got the 'We Have A Problem' sessions which we were working on before the hiatus. We contemplated scrapping those sessions but can happily say we have resumed work and have scheduled mixing for some tracks in the next few weeks.

We also would like to announce a slight line up change. Unfortunately during the hiatus, our German friends Hetti and Helga decided that they no longer wish to be members of Herr Fische. They have chosen to concentrate on their charity helping young disadvantaged people get into music and art in their home town of Munich. As such, Mr Unknown will now be our permanent bassist. All other instrumental duties will be shared between Chris and Paul. We wish to thank Hetti and Helga for their work and inspirational creativity over the years and wish them good luck with their future plans. The door is always open guys!!!

Again please accept our apologies. We know we have put you guys/fans through a lot of shit excuses. We promise that from now on we will deliver and with no bullshit. We have begun another new era in Herr Fische and long may it last.

How Do,

Right we've been away a while but we have been busy little bees in that time. We have finished working on the 'We Have A Problem' project/saga that has dragged on for what seems like forever. We are currently tackling legal issues and other boring business stuff in relation to actually doing our jobs and delivering an album for our long suffering fans (if we actually have any left). Unfortunately during our extended periods of inactivity, we lost our record label. This was due to said inactivity/communication breakdown for which we apologise profusely to everyone involved at Chaos Records. We have decided to go it alone again and will be completely independent and non affiliated with any record company etc.

So what does the future hold for us now?? Well we are hopefully going to repair our credibility and relationships in the music world for a start as well as with those who buy our albums, our fans. In our last info update we told you of a re-shuffle in terms of the band lineup. The departures of Hetti and Helga were a huge blow to us as a unit but it was a mutual and agreed decision and there is no bad blood between us. As we have had this re-shuffle, we are looking at it as a fresh start and another chance for us to put right what we've done wrong in the past. We have sailed many seas of turbulence and weathered so many storms over the past few years that we now feel indestructable. Sounds like we are being arrogant arseholes but believe us nothing could possibly get to us anymore. We are ready to have a good time again and want to share our good times with everyone. So if you will let us, we want to come back and this time until one of us is dead (touch wood that won't happen for a while!) or one of us or all of us retire for good. With a bit of luck, we hope to stop being luddites and technophobes and actually embrace social networking to keep up in this crazy music business and world. We will hopefully update this 'ere site a bit more too.

Well all that's left to do now is put a stop to all these rambling apologies and excuses which have happened far too much over the last year. We will work as quick as possible on the business side of things so that we can actually get back to producing the weird and wonderful sounds that we pass off off as musique and playing live again. This will be in the near future

Ta ta for now from all involved in the now 12 legged freakshow that is Herr Fische

How Do,

Just a small message from us. We will be playing a few shows in the next month. The shows will take place back in our hometown of Hartlepool, Birmingham and London. Please note this is not intended to be a full scale tour, just a little warm up cos we will probably be a little rusty. Anyhoo if anyone wants to come along feel free. We hope to see you there. Tickets will be on sale from tomorrow and will be around £10 at most. All proceeds will be going to various children's charities such as Barnardo's and Great Ormond Street Hospital in honour of the fantastic work that they do to make children's lives better.

Anyhoo we hope to see you there. The dates and venues are below.

May 10th- The Borough Hall, Hartlepool
May 11th- As above
May 12th- O2 Academy, Birmingham
May 13th- Electric Ballroom, Camden

Many Thanks

Good Morning,

At last we finally have some good news. After all the chaos, misery, promises and false starts, Herr Fische is now fully (and we mean fully) ready to go once more. Over the last few years we've struggled to cope with the pressures of the music business (and life!) and as such we pretty much self imploded. We didn't want to admit that of course, hence all the stupid promises and excuses that we made. Well, we would like to draw a line under all of that and carry on as best as we possibly can. Starting right now. We have some new music for you (Hallelujah!!!). We are to release a little E.P in the very near future and we hope you like it. The Hold Still E.P is just a small affair, with no big fanfare. It consists 3 tracks which we played (in their various stages of development) on the Inevitable Cash In tour a year or so ago. The tracks have now been completed and they are: Julie's Gondola, Mandolin Baby and Hold Still. We have tried to stick to our usual formula of experimentation with our music so there are a lot of different styles featured on the E.P. For instance, Julie's Gondola has a classical feel to it (even with a four minute acoustic guitar interlude/dual courtesy of Kii Kii and Tom!), Hold Still is an electro/disco track featuring the technical wizardry of Paul and Mr Unknown on their synthesisers and keyboards, with Brenda pounding away on the elctrodrums and Mandolin Baby has a very calm, oriental sound, featuring as you have already guessed, mandolins.

We hope that you enjoy the E.P and we will be back really soon, hopefully with some gigs for you. We really enjoyed our last gigs way back in May. They really helped our in our rehabilitation into the musical world and finally gave us something on which to focus. We are back and intend to stay around for a very long time. Look out for the E.P in the shops soon. Here's the artwork. Again it's not much. Just a photo Kii Kii took during an eclipse a couple of years ago in Chile.

How do,

We've been busy busy busy all week here in the bunker. Firstly, we've been recording, mixing and tweaking almost non stop for the last week or so. Progress has been made, so far as we have mixed, remixed and completely reworked some tracks that we have archived. Also, we've been busy with the launch of our latest piece of work, the Hold Still E.P which has been on sale now for at least a week. It has sold amazingly well (424,770) so far which is very surprising and very motivational for us. So we will continue mixing, remixing and reworking stuff until it's all just right. 'We Have A Problem' will see the light of day eventually.

The album (or possibly albums) is/are coming along nicely. There's a weirdly nice, relaxed, almost not bothered atmosphere to it considering the chaos that has accompanied it throughout its conception, creation and development. The general theme that we have picked up during its development is one of impending disaster and doom. It's turning out to be a really dark album, full of themes such as death, natural disasters, impending doom, end of the world etc. However we've tried to add that British 'Stiff Upper Lip' reaction to it like "Oh the world ending. Oh well we can't win em all" attitude. Our newest work , The Hold Still E.P is how we want the album to eventually sound (think Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin), with maybe a few minor changes. The themes are all the same though. For example, Hold Still implies the story of a person who is trying not to let their abusive partner get to them by carrying on and pretending it never happened until one day they flip. Julie's Gondola is about a girl named Julie (surprisingly) who lives in Venice (again surprisingly) when a Tsunami wipes out the city. Mandolin Baby is about famine and war. Like we said, there maybe a double album yet. We are thinking of a 2nd part to We Have A Problem as we do have more songs in our archive which fit the general themes of doom but some of those songs have a common bond of hope. We shall work on these a bit more over the next few weeks or so.

We have also been discussing our live return. Now the last time we played it was a rushed affair. We had no time to stop and think. The Inevitable Cash In Reunion Tour was a success and we had a blast but it just didn't feel right somehow. It feels as though we rushed into it far too quickly . Sure, it reunited us all but by the end of it we had lost Hetti and Helga. Now the last few dates we played felt more like the proper old days. It felt great and that's the atmosphere that we want to create again. We obviously don't want to go down the route of past tours where we've had to cancel shows here and there due to mental breakdowns, drink binges, infighting, paranoid delusions etc. So we've decided to stop big tours completely (well not completely, once every blue moon!). This will lessen the stress and other complications on us and hopefully stop old wounds from opening again. Given our history, we don't want old stuff to resurface and we would very much like to keep the remainder of us together. We've had enough divorces over the years and we're not letting it happen again. Anyhoo we haven't got any dates yet. We've just discussed it and we will let you know as soon as we know.

Well anyway, best get back to work. We just thought we'd update you if anyone really pays attention anyway.
High Ho
