Short Track-By-Track Teaser by Ryan Williams"Take It Away is an upbeat song focused around a past girlfriend who cheated on me with another person. Its not as depressing as it sounds, we tried to use some light-hearted lyrics just because is was a joke what happened, something i couldn't believe. It starts of with a long 1 minute instrumental which basically acts as the intro the album, it really shows you what's to come on the record its a good teaser. Its a big FU to past relationships!"
"Darkest Nights which was released as our first single is a really personal song to me as its a song i wrote while in rehab at 17. This was a really tough time for me and my family so i tried my best to come clean and.. well, i did. We broke out the acoustic guitar for it, and added in some piano during the verses but made sure there was alot of noise during the chorus because at the time, it wasn't so simple."
"Katie's song is a real teenage love song, about the girl that got away. Its a really sweet song which is lightest song on the record with just acoustics playing throughout although Josh did do some work in it on percussion. We thought though, it would be too simple just like that.. so, we took it to the next level and i learned the Ukulele so we added that in too!"
"Battle Wounds, its probably our most radio friendly song. Its a pop song which i wrote with Sol Carter who also produced the record, we just kicked back and kinda took in a concept of a guy who has been through everything just to show a girl who he feels. Its really poppy in the sense, there is a light guitar beat throughout but we used a lot of synths for the song too, its really cool and different."
"Everything's Fine takes you back into the real emotional side of the album again, it was one of the first songs i ever wrote, and its about trying to keep strong after hit with something like a break-up. Its a real keep your head high even though it seems tough sorta song. Its very simple song in that sense but we added a MLC spark to it and had my good friend Nathan Barker add screams for the song!"
"Do You Remember is a real "lets go crazy" song, its a really heavy song which is the best bridge between old MLC and new MLC we just went crazy on the concept of 'remember how we used to' and again we got Nate to do some screams for us and they worked really well, its a real crowd favourite. Look out for the cheeky little guitar solo Riley done for it too!"
"Him/Her is a real, real sad song. Again i originally wrote it on my old acoustic guitar, and it covers 2 peoples point of view, obviously Him & Her. But it goes really deep and is actually based on a true story about our friend back in high school. But yeah, its a real sad song which i dont think we could bare to play live!"
"Gone Too Soon is another personal track for me, its one i wrote when my mother passed. That was a tough time for my family, i was only 6 at the time and i didn't understand the situation completely. So didn't really understand what everyone was mourning at and crying at but it then hit me hard afterwards when i relaized what had actually happened. Yeah its a slow tempo track, but one which builds up very strongly."
"Now Its Over. Well, the title is self-explanatory its about when you go to meet your girlfriend and you can just tell something is up, you know what she is going to say but you dont wanna listen. Its a really loud song, Josh did brilliant work for it. But yeah, its just really, what am i going to do or what did i do? Its my favourite song of the record because its one everyone can relate to, everyone has been in that situation before."
"Plying Cupid nearly didnt make the cut for the record. It wasn't that it wasn't as the others but its just a really up-beat and fun song, we didnt know if it would feel out of place in such a deep, emotional sounding record or if it would work. So we done a lot of debating and though, hey, this is us.. we serious all time. So yeah its a really quirky song about trying to plot a plan of how your going to win a girl over, but you see through a few things and it fails. Its really cool and again we added in some synths just to help it breathe a little."
