Best Band – Riot In The Boulevard
Riot In The Boulevard shot onto the music scene in March 2011 with their debut single, Sweet Little Fantasy’s, the song became an instant hit, peaking at number 2 on the charts and quickly becoming a fan favourite among the band’s predominantly teenage fanbase. The band then returned with second single, All The Non-Believers in May, the song initially charted at number 8 on the Top20 but eventually went to number one, following a string of performances at various festivals. The band continues to improve and they release their debut album on July 24, 2011. Not so bad for the first 5 months huh?

Best Solo Artist (male) – Brandon Caulfield
Brandon Caulfield has released two albums so far this year, his own Into The Wild part one and part two albums became critically acclaimed and although any real kind of mainstream success has alluded the indie-rocker it seems like his music has been highly appreciated by various contemporary’s. Often quiet and unassuming Caulfield has gone on to release three singles, Until Your Nothing [#5], Follow My Ghost [#8] and Patience & Grace [#DNC]. He also spent a short period touring as lead singer of The Bards.

Best Solo Artist (Female) – Alicia Lena
Alicia Lena has been in the music industry for just over a year and she returned in 2011 with her sophomore album, Waking Up, which has gone on to become one of the most successful albums of recent times, It was number 1 for almost a whole month and has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. It’s the success of the singles that has been the most surprising, the album was a change in direction as Alicia moved from a mainstream pop/dance sound and moved into a more artistic/RnB sound. Her singles, Clichés Come Easy [#1], The Butterfly Effect [#1], Who I Am, Who I’m Not, Who I Wanna Be [#1] have all been hugely successful and it seems like the move into a more deep/artistic direction has worked wonders for Alicia Lena as she is quickly becoming one of the biggest names in modern music … and this is only the beginning.

Best Album – Alicia Lena – Waking Up
As everyone is aware, the sophomore album is the important one. It removes the weak from the herd and it separates the flops from the bona-fide stars. Prior to the album, Alicia regularly talked about the change in direction with the second album and she talked about how she wanted to create songs that meant something to people and boy she did it, she showed her incredible talents as a songwriter, removing any obvious pop clichés from her music and creating the kind of music with her piano that just set the mood perfectly, the album has sold over 7 million copies worldwide and continues to sell in heavy numbers, so far the album has a 100 % hit-rate on the Top20 Airplay charts, with the first three singles all becoming number 1 hits, the depth and emotion in the record came across and it seems like Alicia has found her niche as a songwriter and musician.

Best Single –Who I Am, Who I’m Not, Who I Wanna Be – Alicia Lena

Best Live Artist – Riot In The Boulevard
Riot In The Boulevard was one of the surprise packages of the year in music so far and they’re performances on the festival season helped increase Riot!’s fanbase over the past few months, performances at the 21st IMA’s, Festival For Japan, Field Trip Festival and the Rever Festival, the band managed to outshine even some of the more experienced acts, Amy’s onstage enthusiasm and the band’s music and lyrics make them a live band worth watching, if they continue like they have so far, then it won’t be long before they’re headlining.

Best Event – Field Trip Festival 2011
The first ever Field Trip Festival, took place in Somerset, England on June 11th and 12th and was an instant success, it’s unique in that many of the acts performing at the festival spent time in and around the festival over the two days, spending time with fans and watching their own favourite bands. The line-up included the likes of, Cassie Valentine, Fathers Of Fury, Electrodeath, Riot!, Suburban Sunrise, Dead Roses, Storm, Mandy Williams, Gears Of Bremen, Matty, Infinite, Ryan Ross Hernandez and Miss Vanity. It is set to return in 2012 and for many more years to come.

Corporate Prize – Culture Uncut, Studio 60 Records
Culture Uncut has quickly became the number one website for all of the major stories in the music industry, breaking stories and news exclusives have helped make this one of the most influential music websites. It has started to grow even more with the inclusion of several well known personalities contributing to various blogs.

Studio60 Records has quickly became one of the major record labels, it’s first two signings were Ryan Ross Hernandez and Mind and it has increased it’s roster ever since with the likes of Katie Coyle, Eric Quillington, Hayden and Isabel. It’s continued to improve over time and the decision to hire Gia Rose as a co-owner has helped improve the label even more and her attitude has helped the label bring in several top quality musicians.

Best Band-The Band-Let's see, they "won" a huge chart war, Got a song banned by the BBC, had two no. 2's and a no. 1 on the US Modern Rock charts, caused a massive controversy by using strong profanity on live TV, and their lead singer posed on the cover of Rolling Stone in her underwear. All in a year's work. They are the reason why college girls in England have started wearing Argyle sweaters and ridiculous plaid skirts. Oh yeah, and didn't they just get declared the best frickin' band in the whole frickin's world? Yep, they did.

Best Album-The Band's Second Album-The Band-Description

Best Single-Royal Wedding-The Band-Description(towards the bottom of the page)

Best Event(if this counts)-The Band's appearance on "Let's Find Another Pop Star--Description(towards the middle/bottom of page)

I would Bone That award-Seriously people, what does poor Kim need to do to win one of these things? Do you want her to go nude? She won't do that, okay, so top trying.

Best personality-John York-Between his constant witty barbs leading up to the chart war with Catharsis, his semi-pshychotic Twitter rants, and his unrequited “love” of Amy Meyer, John York has been one of the most talked about people in music. He is also one of the few lucky people to witness the famous Kamicassie kiss in person. You should start wearing stylized black glasses, cardigan sweaters and ties so you can be as cool as him. He also might just be the best rock/alternative songwriter of his generation.

Best Band: Mudshovel
The Rap Metal Supergoup featuring huge musicians: MattY, Dan Richerds, Kieran Marks, Harry Thornton and the Infamous norwegian drummer Bjarne Orgsen (the brother of Tom Orgsen from REÄLM). The Project was created by Bjarne Orgsen after leaving his band (a very small band from Oslo). He was looking to make a Rap Metal Group and he gathered some of the best musicians in the music scene, from very different styles. He never thought he could be in a band with this great musicians so he's living his dream. The band made a live performance at the Birdies and their first Single "It's All Gone" reached the #10 position in its first week. Mudshovel has released 2 more successful singles, "Alone" (it sold over 395,000 copies) and their newest release, "Walking Over Fire". Their debut album "Society Of Rats" was in June 2011.

Ok...hello, I am back in the game now :). The rules are all on page one. If you have any questions, do not be afraid to ask :)

Plugging is, of course, open now, and will remain open until Tuesday.

Between Tuesday and Friday, the judges, mentioned above will nominate between one and three acts in EVERY category. People do not have to have plugged to be nominated. You can nominate everyone and anyone in each category, as long as you choose between one and three in EVERY category.

And I'll announce the next stage from there :)

Thankyoo
Peace.

Best Band: Teen Titans
They have been in the music industry for a year and their success has slowly grown up, getting from the "Heroes" of their neighborhoods to the "Super-heroes" of the world. In one year they have been through a lot, but they seem to stay still and strong in the industry. They're known for their different voices, personalities, styles and especially their characters. They're also known for being seen by anyone on almost every show or festival.
They have also achieved a lot in one year, like getting a one single ("Behind Me") certified Platinum and another one ("Memory") being certified Gold on the digital singles chart.

Best Solo Artist (male): Postscript
Since emerging at the start of 2011, Postscript has climbed from strength to strength. Starting with his album Welcome To The World, which has been praised by many musicians for its use of samples and Postscript's vocals. The three singles that have been released from the album (Magic Spells, Monster and Lower With Clouds) have all achieved a Top 20 charting position, with the later finishing number 3 in the charts, and being his highest charting single to date. Postscript has also been a key part in Drum & Bass duo Buzz & Hype's chart toping single Screwed, which Postscript added his vocals too. He is now touring America, in support of Lily, and plans to record his second album upon return to England.

Best Newcomer: Aaron Marks
Aaron Marks is a 19 year old multi-instrumentalist, from the small town of Hockley, Essex who is currently performaing acoustic pop mixed with influences from grime and folk music. After living in the shadow of his older brother Kieran Marks’ musical talent, Aaron is ready to take the world by storm with his catchy lyrics, mixing with a catchy mix of acoustic and electronic music creating a new mix of music. He has provided guitar work on Postscript's debut album Welcome To The World, and is looking for more artists to assist with his range of instrumental talent. On June 1st 2011 he was signed to Haclyon Days Recordings (subsidiary label of Monk On Fire Music) on a two album eight singles deal, with EPs classing as three singles. He has so far released his debut EP, Getting Out and has already began working on his debut album (Peace, Love and Other Trending Topics) with hopes of an Autumn/Winter 2011 release. Aaron will also be performing at a number of festivals over the summer including Festival De Musica in Spain and Total Annihilation Festival 4 in England, before touring Europe as a support act of Katie Coyle. He is known for his upbeat, and happy personality, which often leads to many women finding him cute or attractive.

Won't go into much detail...

Prsonality Award/ OMG I would bone that award/ Technical Ecstasy (let's make this 3 in a row!) -

Jason Smith, guitar god, metal mastermind, rock legend. Well, sorta. He has become the face of modern heavy metal and is well know, not only as a musician, but as a producer and as a public personality. His warm, funny, friendly persona makes him popular with a lot of people in the industry. Oh, and his best friend is Eric Quillington. That means he's better than you.

Tisha Jackson Featuring. GirlSpice & Stephanie Fierce-History

The second single off of Tisha’s album, Reveal is a song that empowers sets out to empower the youth. History encourages young women and men to do something with their lives. But instead of doing it in a corny fashion like many empowerment song the song shares personal experiences between Tisha, Stephanie, and GirlSpice. The song shows the origin of the girls, the struggle to get where they stand, and gives a deep look at where each woman is at in their lives. By doing this they give the message of “If I could do it, then you could do it too”. The personal message proves to be taken well, with the single reaching platinum status in just two months of release and debuting in the Top 3 of The Digital and Airplay Charts and remaining there for several non-consecutive weeks.

chaos awards II were basically going on when Post-Grunge Catastrophe was being released, so I'm plugging for these awards

Best Band - Reported Failure
UserPostedImage
With four well received albums to their name, Reported Failure have won the support of fans all over the world. Their new album "Post-Grunge Catastrophe" has lingered on the top albums chart ever since it's release three months ago, and it is still on the rise. The album has included many singles including "Manufactured Radio" which has become somewhat of an anthem for musical Independence.
Best Newcomer - Nick Palmer
UserPostedImage
Promising to bring the crunk, punk, punk, and whatever else you can think of that fits with the rhyme, Nick Palmer burst onto the scene quite recently and promises to bring all of that and a fresh new sound to the music industry.
Best Artwork

If pictures are worth a thousand words, then I guess you could say that the artwork explains the whole album. THe artwork for Reported Failure's Post Grunge Catastrophe does just that.
Best Album - Post-Grunge Catastrophe
There are albums that are literally pop song after pop song, there are albums that are amazing, but not radio friendly in the least bit. This album finds the balance. Add that to the fact that it is an agressive punk rock reflection on the current state of music, the world, and the guys who wrote the album themselves, and this album is the perfect choice. (There is a buttload of info in the spoiler)

Best Single - Manufactured Radio
UserPostedImage
Imagine you are in a band that is struggling to maintain your originality without going broke. It seems that the song Manufactured Radio should be the themesong to your life. The song captures the struggle between an artist and everyone who seeks to take the artist and make it into something that they can make a few bucks on. Add that to great musicianship, and you've got one fantastic song.

(Just click the spoiler that I posted above. This is the first song in it)
Best Live Artist - Reported Failure
Click for live RP
(Honestly not my best work, because I never finished it, but I might as well plug them for this category)

Now onto OOC, because Reported Failure and Nick Palmer have absolutely no shot at winning any of the other awards. I'm not sure if we are supposed to plug other people for OOC, but I don't have the ego to plug myself for all of these.
Best New RPer - Mckenzie

Best Female Artist - Katie Coyle

UserPostedImage

http://www.therockstarga....aspx?g=posts&t=5862

Since making her sudden move into the music industry last November with her single "It's Only My Eyes", there has never been a dull moment when Katie Coyle's been around. If she's not kissing top celebs and being outed as a lesbian, she's releasing killer music and rising to the top of the world of pop, all this whilst she's still only 19, and balancing a music career with a difficult schedule of madness and attempted suicide. Surviving a triple heart attack minutes after the Fans Choice Awards has also show the strength Katie has!

On the music front, Katie's debut album saw records thrashed, by staying at number one for five whole weeks in a row. Her three singles to date, have all sat comfortably in the top 10 for a number of weeks, with Naked on Paper even reaching number one, and becoming the best selling digital song in history, as well as the first to sell two million copies, and the first multi-platinum digital single.

Well played Katie!!

Best Album - Katie Coyle - "Raindrops, Caffeine and Other Liquid Stimulants"

Katie's debut album was critically acclaimed before it's release just three weeks ago. It debuted at number 2, before leaping into the top position, a position it still holds now. (please read the thread below before voting :) ) And it spent eventually 5 long weeks at the number one slot in the charts!

Album Title: Raindrops, Caffeine, and Other Liquid Stimulants
Genre: Folk/indie/pop

Tracklisting (updated daily)
1. It's Only My Eyes (3:58)
2. Lust and Cigarettes (feat Scott Armstrong) (4:16)
3. Breakthrough (feat Will.Rocca) (3:46)
4. Sunrise In Suburbia (feat Jack Straw) (3:16)
5. Intravenous (feat Jenny Hudson) (5:58)
6. Naked on Paper (feat Eric Quillington) (4:11)
7. Invanity (feat Eric Quillington) (6:11)
8. Shattered Dreams (feat Jack Straw) (3:12)
9. Fade Away (feat Jenny Hudson) (3:48)
10. Less than 3 (<3) (feat Scott Armstrong) (4:29)

A real rollercoaster of an album, this really is the crowning glory of Katie's career so far. She tells the listener the up and down story of her life and her rise to fame so far. The album has dark points, bright points, and some very, very dark points. It also features some of the best stars in music (as outlined above) as guest guitarists.
OOC: If you could take time to read the full album RP that'd be great http://www.therockstarga...px?g=posts&m=121619, it was a bitch of an amount of work, and I am so proud of it's 17,500 words lol. Full lyrics and descriptions are on that post.

Best Single - Katie Coyle - "Naked On Paper" - Feat Eric Quillington

The Record Breaking single

After 14 weeks in the top 10, Katie's second single has now gone multi-platinum, selling over 2 million so far, and still charting as high as three in the charts! Surely a classic for the ages already! It is the highest selling single of the digital age!

Katie’s Comments
M
This song, it's called "Naked On Paper", is a song which means quite a bit to me. The title is a metaphor, referring to how exposed I felt seeing stuff written about me in magazines and newspapers, and how it made me feel that I was just the public's eye candy...I essentially did feel naked for weeks.
I wrote this track whilst all of the "rumours" surrounding the Miss Vanity scandal were going on. It was a very difficult time for me, because of the fact that I had to not only try to protect myself and pretend that it was all lies, but I felt like I had to protect Vanity's best interests as well. She had told me not to tell anyone about us, but she was feeling very little pressure from the media. SoI felt like I had to hold up a whole load of lies, and deceit on my own whilst she used me as the barrier to allow her to do what she does.

The song reflects my dark dark emotions at the time. You'll hear the lyrics, they're all about lies, harassment, bombarding, exposure etc. This was what I was feeling at the time of writing it, when I was locked in a hotel room, alone, facing wave after wave of paparazzi. The music itself is also quite dark. Because of the broken arm, I had Eric Quillington in for this one playing guitar. Eric is a true musician, and he was really easy to work with, and I think his guitar playing on this track captures my feelings of isolation and fear really really well.

In terms of the artwork. That has a good story to it. This is a picture I took in one of my "less stable" moments. I hadn't slept in like 48 hours, and they were knocking on my door, shouting, "Katie, just admit it....did you sleep with Vanity?" "Come out, let us see you...give us a picture" and all that. So I grabbed my own camera, threw the door open and screamed "How do you like it" as I took pictures of them...probably not the best move at the time. But we got to use the picture for this single cover, and we just threw a coloured pencil filter over it, and I think it looks ok. The black outer border, which is very thick, was my idea. It's supposed to symbolise the barrier of that world. There literally was no way out. I was boxed in with those people, those cameras.
Track description

The song starts with a slow, smooth keyboard intro. It sounds very soothing, and almost peaceful, before a loud acoustic guitar breaks the serenity, and  plays one loud chord, before going into a medium paced chord progression, as Katie sings the opening verse (1).
Verse (1) is sung in short, slow bursts. Each line of the song is started at the same time as the guitar plays a single chord, which rings out as she sings the rest of the line. There is also a momentary pause at the end of each line.

Between verse (1) and (2) there is a ten second break, where the guitar picks up and plays a medium to fast paced folky progression, which symbolises the frantic lifestyle of celebrity culture.
Verse (2) is sung in the same fashion, with the same music as (1), until the last line where Katie sings a bit louder, and the guitar plays repeated chords, building up to the chorus

(.C) Comes in with the guitar playing a loud, triumphant, but dark sounding chord, accompanied by the smooth keyboard once again. They play a lot faster than in the verse, and Katie's lyrics are a lot smoother, as each line runs into the next, without the gaps used in the verses. The last line of each chorus is sung slower, without any music, which just fades at the end of the penultimate line.

(3) the first line of verse (3) is sung without music, before the guitar joins in on line 2, but this time it plays constant chords rather than just one at the start of each line. There are gaps in the vocals as in (1) and (2), but no gaps in the guitar playing.

(.C) just as above, but the music stops abruptly as Katie sings the last line of the chorus

(4) is sung with just keyboard and no guitar. The smooth keyboard at this point is used to symblolise the haunting feeling that Katie felt when she needed Vanity. She felt alone, but there was always an eerie silence when she called out for help The lyics are sung in the same manner as all the other choruses.

(.B1) the first bridge is very fast paced but still very much in a minor key. Each line is sung with a punch, as if their is some venom behind it. The final word "lust" is held for a while, as the guitar plays a jumpy repeated chord to build up once again to the chorus

(.C) Chorus as above
(.B2) This is sung completely acapella and very quickly. Katie has like a filter over her voice to make it sound quite distant and haunting, but there is a real sense of hate in her voice, as if she wants the listener to feel the pain that she felt. This repeats, exactly the same.

(.C) Chorus as above

(.C) Chorus sung acapella, after line 4 it really slows down, and by the end, it sounds like Katie's voice is breaking through crying. The last line is sung through tears, and incredibly slowly, before the guitar comes back in and plays a very slow, and very minor key finger picking section. It then finishes with one, slow, deliberate chord, which sounds very sad.

Lyrics

(1)A bright flash of lightning
Obscurity’s death
Turn eyes to the pages
A rumour spread
I pray for the silence
My friend in the dark
Casting a shadow
On my heavy heart

(2)I feel interrupted
By society’s glare
I’d never have asked to
Be such a fare
I turn and I block out
My mind is a blur
Running from rumours
Like a wildfire they burn
(.C)And now I’m naked on paper, I’m
Exposed to the world
It’s a hopeless situation, and
I’m just a hopeless girl, oh so
Naked on paper
Why can’t you see all the pain, oh
My mind is like a pavement
Weather beaten in the rain

(3)There’s light in the tunnel
It’s far at the end
A glow of resistance,
My silence commends,
But soon it’s all shattered
Privacy isn’t free
Public interrogation
Is all for me
(.C)And now I’m naked on paper, I’m
Exposed to the world
It’s a hopeless situation, and
I’m just a hopeless girl, oh so
Naked on paper
Why can’t you see all the pain, oh
My mind is like a pavement
Weather beaten in the rain

(4)It’s all here on me
The public glare
You get off scot-free
Whilst I’m laid bare
I beg for assistance
It’s changing me
But you didn’t help it
You have to have seen

(.B1)And now I see through this game
This unforgiving fame
It’sa… lonely existence
Filled with enemies and resistance
I tried to turn and walk away
It’s my life but I can’t play
It’s all lies and there’s no trust
I’m just a girl, not society’s lust

(.C)And now I’m naked on paper, I’m
Exposed to the world
It’s a hopeless situation, and
I’m just a hopeless girl, oh so
Naked on paper
Why can’t you see all the pain, oh
My mind is like a pavement
Weather beaten in the rain

(.B2)They lie, and then
You all believe
I tell the truth and people leave
My side and
It’s allso absurd
I’m just a girl
Here in the world…

(.B2)They lie, and then
You all believe
I tell the truth and people leave
My side and
It’s all so absurd
I’m just a girl
Here in the world…

(.C)And now I’m naked on paper, I’m
