Daniel: I think you guys could of pushed the boundaries a bit more with the sound, but overall it's an amazing listen. The lyrics are superb.

OOC: I gott say man, this was beyond excellent :) I loved how simple (not messy) yet powerful these descriptions were, it really made it fun to read. Also the Characteristics bit, nice ;)

OOC: Thank you. I've always been the type of person who writes and says things in their simplest form. I like to think that I write RP that anyone could easily read and enjoy while sitting on the crapper.

Matt: Thanks. Yes, we never were big on making songs with one instrument plus vocals, but this seemed just to fit.

12. My Shotgun Fairytale
Writers: Matt Collins and Vin Peters
Characteristics: Aggressive intro, quirky chord timing

I got myself in a mess
I burn it out with cigarettes
I dream about a lifetime of hate

I find my life inside glass
On display, everyone laughs
I sink into infinite tragedies

I'm the villain in all of your disney stories
I deceive
I fight
I scheme
You bleed
But I can't stop...

My shotgun fairytale
I guess I should be turning away now
I guess I shouldn't be
Just another mindless fake ID

My shotgun fairytale
I guess I should be fixin' it up now
I guess I shouldn't be
Just another faceless statistic

I lie so much I cannot help
but deceiving even myself
I know one day it will catch up with me

I now defy the laws
of everyone I meet
I give everyone a reason to hate

I'm the villain in all of your disney stories
I deceive
I fight
I scheme
You bleed
But I can't stop...

My shotgun fairytale
I guess I should be turning away now
I guess I shouldn't be
Just another mindless fake ID

My shotgun fairytale
I guess I should be fixin' it up now
I guess I shouldn't be
Just another faceless statistic

Music/Background: The song begins with an angry sounding aggressive set of power chords that are soon coupled by a very wild sounding guitar intro. The intro infact is not a single riff but sounds more like it would be a small chunk of a guitar solo. The bass has a little bit of a funk influence to add to the overall punk rockness of it. The drums are nothing extremely unique. They supply a great backbone to the song, are certainly headbang worthy. The power chord progression is powerful and has all sorts of timing quirks during the verse while Vin plays an undertoning riff. The chorus sees Vin busting out some memorable licks while Billie's vocals get less aggressive than for the verse. Towards the end of the song Vin plays a slightly mindblowing guitar solo while Matt and Billie harmonize the chorus which at this point comes secondary to Vin's guitar playing. The chorus is played once more after the solo before the opening of the song is played again and steadily fades out.

Matt: This son was written at the beginning of summer. The lyrics were leaked onto our website the day Vin and I wrote it. The song is basically about being the bad guy and knowing it and making efforts to undo things you've done even when you know you can't.

Sounds similar to:

Vin: I thought that since this is the last track on disc 1 I'd share some thoughts on the future. Tracks 11 and 12 are both new songs. They don't really represent where were going. They are songs that we wrote and we liked the lyrics. We aren't going to start writing songs that only require an acoustic guitar to play as "Sunburns" might suggest. As fun as the tune is I'm also sick of writing songs like "My Shotgun Fairyale" that are loud aggressive catchy and focused almost exclusively and vocals and guitars. We have begun writing our next album that will be full of new songs and it's going to be different and quite possibly a very musically progressive album that will hold our best lyrics yet.

Disc 2

1. The Call (Featuring Riot! in the Boulevard)
Writers: Billie Beckett, and Vin Peters
Characteristics: Duet, epic climax, orchestrial aspects

Blue - Billie Beckett
Red - Amy Meyer
Green - Both

I said you could run (run)
I said you could run (run)
I said you could run
(run)
Away with me

You don't have to think
You just have to be
On this dead beat road with me
We wont have to hide
We wont have to hide
We wont have to hide

But I'll answer the call
to leave part of myself here
I'll keep you in my heart
But I can't breathe until next year
All the stories we swore we'd tell
I never thought that they'd be tragedies
But I'll answer the call
I'll answer the call

We would run on the sands of the ocean
We would sing until our lungs gave out
We'd lye there until the tide came to take us
The headlines would read "Lovers Dead At Sea"

You don't have to think
You just have to be
On this dead beat road with me
We wont have to hide
We wont have to hide
We wont have to hide

But I'll answer the call
to leave part of myself here
I'll keep you in my heart
But I can't breathe until next year
All the stories we swore we'd tell
I never thought that they'd be tragedies
But I'll answer the call
I'll answer the call

Music/Background: The song begins with soft sounding acoustic guitar chords joined by a Strawberry Fields type keyboard sound. Very deep booming almost epic sounding drums join in once Amy Meyer begins singing. Some violins and bass join in for the chorus while Vin's guitar remains plugged in but silent. This changes in the short second verse. vin breaks out the overdriven guitar to play corresponding to two loud drum beats by Robert Edwards. He plays more loud power chords at half notes throughout the verse. He tones ot down by palm muting on the prechorus before going all out with all of the other instruments on the chorus. The violins and drums break things down slightly making way for an Alice in Chains style guitar solo from Vin that duels harmoniously with Riot! guitarist Justin Mullen. The climax of the song comes as both guitarists joined by the violins play a progression ending with a single jaw dropping note that is joined by symbol crashes a short moment of silence and then the final chorus.

Billie: We actually didn't plan on this being a single. We have a newer song that was the first thing we wrote after getting back together but didn't fit on Post-Grunge Catastrophe and that was planned to be the only single. then we went in and recorded this song with Amy and Justin from Riot! in the Boulevard. After it was done and we played it I basically just looked over at Vin and we both had this expression of amazement on our face. We met with some people at Nomad that night and made plans. The song itself was a b-side on our second album Flux of the Run. We liked it, and our fans liked it, and we thought recording it with Riot! would be perfect. They are basically my favorite new artist and I'm not just saying that because we're on the same label. So we recorded it with them and it just went great. I hope that the song goes over well and people really enjoy it

2. Manufactured Radio/Famou$ (Electrodeath Version)
OOC: Infor for Manufactured Radio is on page 1. Famou$ was written by Andre Gandra, and the unquoted section of the post is what I added to enhance the song based on what Andre told me. ;)

Andre Gandra wrote:
Manuifectured Radio is a electro rock version, made by ElectroDeath with a mash up for ElectroDeath's song "Famou$". The Idea was to keep the strong guitar on the original version plus the dub step beats presented on "Famou$". also the chorus of the original song was take out to put the chorus of the song "Famou$" making it appear like a mash up cover.

The Chorus of Famou$

I'm Gonna be Famous
No matter what you told me
Famou$, Famou$, Famou$
I just want some money
Can't you see my real talent?
Famou$, Famou$, Famou$
Today you're gonna see...
My video will premiere on MTV
I'm gonna be Famou$
No matter what I should do
Famou$, Famou$, Famou$

Music/Background: Electrodeath originally did this song live at the Field Trip Festival. The verses from Manufactured Radio were kept and added to the chorus from Famou$. The guitar influence in the original Reported Failure version of Manufactured Radio remains intact but is added to musical elements from Famou$. The girls from Electrodeath alternate singing the verses and prechoruses from Manufactured Radio and Famou$ is sang in the same way it was in the original.

Billie: I don't listen to electronic music quite often, but when I do Electrodeath is usually the first thing I reach for. We first heard this at the Field Trip Festival and when we were making this album it was obvious to have this song on it! The mash up works perfectly and I love the way that the two songs have somewhat opposite themes but work perfectly together.

3. Testimony featuring Lily

Red - Vocals by Lily
Blue - Vocals by Billie Beckett
Green - Vocals by both

When the world ends, we'll still be fihgting
Screaming and yelling, but no one hears a word

We'll be standing on the rooftops
We'll be watching to see a friendly face
Before we all burn in hell, I hope someone remembers my face

As I screamed my testimony from the rooftop
As I jumped my life away to prove a point
My last words remained unwritten
The memory of me, already fading away

When the sky turns black from the bombs
The world will see the scars they've made

They'll be sitting in their lifeboats
Crying for the hope of another day
Before they all burn in hell, I hope someone remembers my face

As I screamed my testimony from the rooftop
As I jumped my life away to prove a point
My last words remained unwritten
The memory of me, already fading away

When we arrive, there wont be anyone to drown out your thunder
People will see who they really are
When we arrive there wont be anyone for you to hide under
Your world will fall with the one you've destroyed

As I screamed my testimony from the rooftop
As I jumped my life away to prove a point
My last words remained unwritten
The memory of me, already fading away

Music/Background: The instruments are the same in this version of the song as they are in the original version (OOC: See info for that on page 1). Billie and Lily have a little bit of cat and mouse type vocals in the verses and choruses. During the bridge they both sing together. The two voices work perfectly to make the song very soothing and powerful and give it a whole new light!

Billie: Working with Lily was just fun! I think we both had a great time and the songs turned out great! Having her on this album enhanced it greatly and I think fans of both of us will be listening to this song for a long time to come.

OOC: Thanks, and you can take your time. Don't let it stress you out.

4. My Shotgun Fairytale featuring Firecracker 47
OOC: Honestly not my best work. I procrastinated doing this track for some reason, and then had to just whip up a vague description, so sorry about that. But I need to get this track over with so that I can continue and post the rest of the disc (which is much better). Info for the original song (including lyrics) is on this page as you can probably see. If Bikz wanted to make a much better description I'll allow her. ;)

Music/Background: Firecracker 47 took most of the lead for this song. The result is a slightly different tone for the song. Although Vin Peters sticks around for some guitar parts, Billie' vocals are the most obvious part that is Reported Failure. Billie and the vocalist from Firecracker47 altenate verses and both sing the prechorus and do a little bit of alternating lines during the chorus. THe effect is a fun version of the song.

Vin: The idea behind basically letting Firecracker 47 take the lead is that this song isn't known by most of our fans. This album will come out and it's quite possible that people will recognize the song more as a Firecracker 47 song which is great for them, and we don't really mind!

5. Limo Wreck featuring Lily (Soundgarden cover)
OOC: Just to be clear, the folks in the great band of Soundgarden wrote these lyrics.

Red - Vocals by Lily
Blue - Vocals by Billie Beckett
Green - Vocals by both

Tears of the feeble, hands of the slaves
Skin of the mothers, mouths of the babes
Building the towers, belongs to the sky
When the whole thing comes crashing down
Don't ask me why

Under the shelf, the shelf of the sky
Two eyes, two suns, too heavenly blinds
Swallowing rivers, belongs to the sea
When the whole thing washes away
Don't run to me

I'll be going down for the rest of the slide
While the rest of you harvest the gold

And the wreck of you
Is the death of you all
And the wreck of you
Is the break and the fall
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the death of you all
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the break and the fall

Under the red break of the lights
Heroes in stretches inch to the site
Blowing the pieces, belong to the wind
When the whole thing blows away
I won't pretend

I'll be going down for the rest of the slide
While the rest of you harvest the souls

And the wreck of you
Is the death of you all
And the wreck of you
Is the break and the fall
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the death of you all
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the break and the fall

Behind the blood red break of the lights
Lies the wreck of you for the rest of your life

And the wreck of you
Is the death of you all
And the wreck of you
Is the break and the fall
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the death of you all
I'm the wreck of you
I'm the break and the fall

Music/Background: The music is kept the same as in the original. The only difference is in tone. Vin plays the guitar with a tone that is more punk than grunge in order to keep the song sounding very Reported Failure like. The song was chosen to cover partly because it shows off the vocal abilities of both Lilly and Billie. The chorus is the best part of this song as both vocalists are in perfect harmony. The original is done justice and like Testimony this song will probably be a favorite of fans of Lily and reported Failure.

Billie: We knew we wanted to do a couple of covers on thi album. I learned how to sing by blasting Soundgarden's album Superunknown and trying to sing along to it. This song was always one of my favorites, and having Lily be part of it just made it so much better. We've also been playing this song live for awhile, and it's one of those that maybe you don't want to cover because you know it wont be as good as the original, but at the end of the day we did it anyway.

Letting F47 take the lead - is there any other way when Joshy's involved? Haha, he has quite the presence. The lyrics, the meaning, are just so wrong and yet so right for him to sing. It was harder for me to get hold of, I managed it in the end though! Thanks for letting us have a go at this. We promise you, we did not let you down. (:

OOC: First week of school = no time for this, so I'll try to finish it up this weekend.

6. Cure to Growing older (Acoustic)

Vin:
This song is extremely powerful when done acoustically. There is powerful emotion in it that just doesn't come across as well in the original version. We've done it live several time. This recorded version is very good too.

Music: The tempo changes in this version and is slightly slower than the original, but it is still a fast song and by no means a ballad. Billie plays some chords while Vin plays the orignal lead guitar part on his acoustic guitar. Billie sings with passion and power. The bigger notes in the chorus as well as the sensitivity of the intro and verses can bring chills to your spine. Each word is delivered to give off different emotions. The verses which are darker are sung sadly and with hints of desperation, and longing. The chorus begins just as dark, but there is a pinch of optimism and hope. The overall theme of desperation is retained throughout most of the song though.
