Raven Comatose arrived at the meeting room quite early. She still wasn't sure that she was ready for this - it had been so long since she had done anything in the music industry, let alone something as important to another musician as management. After all, though she would interfere as little as possible with the creative process - she had always considered that a no-go area unless the artist asked for help - low sales could easily be put down to her bad decisions. What if she chose the wrong label, the wrong producer, the wrong gigs, the wrong graphics, the wrong promotion? A good or bad manager could make or break a career, and this wasn't one she wanted to mess up.

She went over to the toilets to fix her make-up again, make sure she looked immaculate. She giggled at herself in the mirror. Pretty, yes; professional, no, she thought. Raven never looked professional; it was almost impossible for a woman with her jawline tattooed to look like a serious businesswoman. However, Raven was far beyond caring, and had her chestpiece and sleeves on show as well. She was dressed simply in black and had plain socks and gloves over her "deformities", but still, she was Raven Comatose, she could never be Regan Robbins. If he was going to get used to her as a manager, he'd have to get used to her as Raven, tattoos, missing pieces and all. After all, wasn't the most important role of a manager a friend of the artist? Look at Jimmy and Moronic Changeling, Kate and Kato, or (ooh-err) Katie and Firecracker 47. All so close.

As she finished off her make-up and started brushing her hair - the thick, black sheet was already brushed enough to crackle, but she just needed to check once more - she started to feel more and more excited. The prospect of Troy Mascenon returning, and a possible Reckoner reunion, had set the music world on fire - and it was going to be her behind it all. Reckoner had done so well before, filled her with so much pride. Now, Troy would do the exact same. And amazingly, when they had vaguely discussed it at The Dirty Bastard and in phone conversations, he seemed to trust her 100%. Though people were getting used to Raven going sane, she was old news, it was rare that someone actually trusted her with something as important as their career.

Satisfied with her looks and optimistic for the meeting, she went back to the room and plonked herself down on a sofa. As she knew she was going to be early, she had brought her bass guitar along to amuse herself. She got it out of its case and just strummed some random notes, hoping to make up some sort of tune as she awaited Troy's arrival.

Troy arrived a bit early in the office of Raven Comatose. He was quite excited but at the same time nervous at what was going to happen. Troy had been looking for a manager to set his career on the right track, he wasn't really looking for a perfect manager, what he needed in his state right now was someone he could trust. Remembering how great Raven had made Reckoner before, he put all his trust in her hoping that she could do the same for him. But he was really nervous. He was a lot different now then he ever was before musically. Reckoner had that sound that was very complex but at the same time catchy which seemed to be very appealing to the masses, now he sounded different, like someone from the underground scene. Now how would a high class manager want to manage someone who didn't have that catchy sound, didn't have those boyish looks that could make little girls fall on their knees, he couldn't sell sex. But Troy had faith in Raven, he knew that she wasnt in it for the money, if she took a chance on a band like Reckoner, she would take a chance on Troy. He silently walks in the office and greets Raven with a handshake.

At first, Raven barely noticed Troy come in; she vaguely heard the door creak, and played a bum note. She stood up as he walked across to her, and shook his hand. She greeted him with a smile and a quiet, deep "hi", showing him to a seat.

She could really feel the "shake" in his handshake. Yes, sure, Raven's hands weren't exactly the daintiest things to hold, but she could tell that he was a little nervous. She knew the feeling, she'd left the music industry and returned many a time, and getting back on board, even with old friends like Dark Blue Music, was always difficult. You never knew what was coming next in this world. Raven had gone through her share of surprises, not all of them good ones - but she remained optimistic.

As he sat down, she fell back into her seat, and sat up. "Now, first things first, gotta say how pleased I am that y'all wanna work with me!" Raven spoke genuinely, her voice heightening a little, and her smile felt as inked on as her tattoos. "I was lookin' for a new project too, and y'all came along just at the right time. It'll be great to get back into management again. Just sayin'."

She paused and looked at him more seriously. "I got the contracts on the table, which we'll need to sign - but first of all, I'll need to know what sorta thing you're plannin', musically, if it's gonna be much different, and what help you want from me. I'm here the same as before; I'm your team leader, alongside your producer - Eric, I believe? - and label if you have one." She shuddered slightly at the idea of working alongside some label owners, and really hoped she didn't come across those. Raven, enemy of the labels, she thought. "I'm here to get y'all back in the game, catch y'all when you fall, promote, and befriend. In return I don't ask for you to be a superstar, but I ask for you to try. I don't need a string of chart-toppers, neither you nor I control the public; but I do need a client who's willin' to get his music out there, and to really make a good go of it. Do y'all reckon you got that kinda determination?"

She hobbled over to the table with the contracts on and picked up a pen. She smiled as she flicked it in her fingers.

OOC : Thanks (: haha.

Troy felt relieved when he saw Raven playing the bass guitar as he walked in the office, he really thought that Raven was determined to work with him seeing that she was starting to get in the game a little bit. Troy felt more confident and more comfortable around Raven, but not too confident that he would turn into an asshole, just enough to talk to her. Raven started to talk to Troy and he was just listening, he didn't want to interrupt Raven if she were to say anything to him.

"I got the contracts on the table, which we'll need to sign - but first of all, I'll need to know what sorta thing you're plannin', musically, if it's gonna be much different, and what help you want from me. I'm here the same as before; I'm your team leader, alongside your producer - Eric, I believe? - and label if you have one. Do y'all reckon you got that kinda determination?"" said Raven

"Well to be honest, I'm not really planning for anything big or fancy, I'm just gonna be writing my music, make the best of em, and show em to whoever wants to hear them. It's all going to be completely honest for me and that was the reason I wanted you as my manager. Reckoner had always been a band of honesty, we never wrote stuff just for the fame or just because it has a catchy beat that everyone would love, we're a band who wrote music to make ourselves feel good and people who feel our pain feel the relieve we feel when hearing them. You took a chance on a band like us and you molded us into the people we are right now and that's why I chose you. All I ask is that you never give up on me because I wasn't only looking for a manager, I was looking for a friend, and a bassist. Honestly, you were really the first person I thought of when I was thinking of going back to the music business and you don't know how happy I am seeing us to in the same room with the contracts on that table.", Troy paused to drink some water.

"I don't think you'd need to find another record label for me, Chaos Records is just around the corner and I think you can strike a deal with them or something, I just really think that's the label for me. I really appreciate what you said about me not needing a string of chart toppers and stuff to get you as my manager cause seriously, that's another good thing I see in you. You ain't in it for the money, you are in it for the job, to help other musicians like me, it's really why I picked you."

Troy felt that he was on the right track and he was ready to sign the contract.

"If you were looking for a client willing to get his music out there, you found the right guy, I'm all about the music, more than I ever was with the money. And somewhat pun intended, I Reckon I've got that determination."

Troy stopped talking and looked deep into Raven's eyes

Raven sat and listened to what Troy had to say. She didn't know how he associated her with honesty, and swallowed hard to hold back a laugh - nobody else would. However, she agreed with what he said. Music associated not with fame or frills and fancies, but with raw emotion. That's what she had always believed that music was about; making the listener feel something. She couldn't believe how much he was complimenting her power as a manager, she never knew that she was such a driving force behind Reckoner.

Then she heard the words, "Chaos Records". She listened to the rest of what he was saying, but the word "Chaos" hung in the air, echoing around her mind. She started to panic.

"Chaos Records, eh?" she said, trying to keep her composure. "I just need to make a call."

She ran off to the next room, got out her mobile and called Jimmy Bishop, her own manager.
"Hello, Jimmy's love-line."
Despite everything, she giggled a little at how he answered his personal mobile. "Howdy, it's Raves."
"Hey Ravenah! I thought you were busy today?"
"I can't do it."
"What? Of course you can! You were an excellent manager before."
"He wants to sign with .... Chaos Records." She started to shake.
"And the problem is?"
"Scott!" she shouted. "I'm not gonna work closely with him, am I?"
"Raven. Remember when Kash and I got a divorce, and we both came back into work the next day? We mostly kept away from each other, but when I needed to talk about finances, I talked to her as if nothing had happened. Just like, if you need to talk to Scott about Troy, that would be the beginning, the middle and the end of the conversation. You don't need to be friends with Scott, just work together for the sake of the artist."
Her lip started to tremble. "Troy asked me never to give up on him."
"Then don't. Simple as that."
"What if Scott tells Troy not to work with me?"
"Then he's being unprofessional. If so, Chaos wasn't worth going to anyway. But you're not going to be like that. Never give up on him, just like he said."
"Right! Thanks Jimmy."
"You go girl!"

She returned to the room Troy was in, standing up straight, and feeling much less scared at the prospect of working with Scott H. She sat down and took a deep breath. "If a deal with Chaos Records is what y'all want, that's what you're gonna get," she said. "I reckon I can do that for y'all!" She smiled at the memory of why Jimmy matched Raven with Reckoner in the first place. Strange how silly things like that can work out so well, she thought.

Raven looked straight at Troy. "I'm never gonna let you down," she said. She started walking over to the contracts. "If y'all want me as a guest musician, I can help; if y'all want me as a friend, I can be that too, for sure. I ain't in it for the money - heck, I'm part of Moronic Changeling, I hardly need the extra cash. I'm doin' this for you."

She handed him the contracts. "Read through, there shouldn't be any problem, but never sign anything without lookin' first. Let me know if there's anything wrong." She looked deep into his eyes and smiled. "Pun intended or not, I totally reckon we can do this!"

Troy brought out his reading glasses and read through the whole contract twice to assure himself that he was ready to have Raven manage his career for him, he didn't need a lawyer for that because he knew he was in good hands. Without a hint of doubt, Troy brought out his sign pen and signed the contract. He then looked at Raven and smiled at her, he knew that he had not only gained a manager or a guest musician, but also a friend. He trusted her like he would trust his own family. He went closer to Raven and gave her a hug, something that he wouldn't normally do when it comes to business or professional stuff. This contract was not just for business purposes, it's like an oath of trust.

"I guess I'm all yours now. I promise I'm not going to let you down." Troy said as he shook hands with Raven.

Raven knew, instinctively, that he would sign it without a lawyer's help; she knew that Troy was smart enough to read the small print, but also that she, with Jimmy's help, had drawn up a good plan. After Troy had read and signed, she skim-read what she had written and scrawled the letters "REGAN JESSICA ROBBINS" and today's date on the papers.

She was surprised at the hug - she wasn't sure whether this crossed any lines. As professionals, possibly, but they were friends, right? She didn't get hugged very often, being as she was quite intimidating to look at. So she wasn't going to let this one go. She held onto Troy, looking over the top of his head and out of the window.

"I guess you're all mine, and it's a two-way street, yeah? I'm yours and won't let y'all down either."

As she shook his hand to seal the deal, she had forgotten all about the anxiety she had felt to do with Chaos Records. She was going to do a damn good job for Troy, no matter what.

"Well I guess that seals the deal", Troy's phone rings and he quickly picks it up. After a few minutes, Troy went back to Raven and bid her farewell.

"Nice doing business with you. I would love to stay for a little while longer but I've got some things to do. I hope to see you as soon as possible."

Troy gave Raven one last hug before leaving the office.
