Mm, now I think of it, there's more to American television than HBO. Not much more, but more. Any American cop/law show is good, House is a good watch and even some American comedies like Seinfield and Friends are pretty good. As well as South Park and, to a lesser extent, Family Guy, American Dad, Futurama, even the Simpsons.

Has anyone seen Inspector Montalbano? Great Italian cop show, each episode is about an hour to an hour and a half long.

I managed to get my hands on all six seasons... although, now I think of it, I haven't really watched much...

Y'know, that's kind of why I like The Wire. I have an appreciation for entertainment where things happen at quite a sedate pace, and that are dialogue heavy. So long as the dialogue is well written, I just liking hearing these folk chatter away. And that's the thing. It builds slowly, it tends to really climax in the second last episode with the last one just to wrap things up. I think that's a brilliant way to do stuff, it just keeps me interested. Rather than BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! from one episode to the next, though that can obviously done in a fantastic and gripping manner, like the modern Battlestar Galactica remake. But sometimes it's nice to see something done in a fantastic and subtle manner, and The Wire really is that show. You have to see every episode, especially the first few, or the rest of the series will just not make any sense.

Exactly. We do seem to struggle to make 3 dimensional characters. Everyone seems to be mostly a stereotype, essentially a cardboard cut out.

But no, the best character in season 2 was Brother Moveson.

Well, some shows are good. Others I can't stand. Some shows I personally hate because the things in the series is dumb. Like Family Guy, it's not that funny and they practically kill people for a small laugh. I don't get it. Perhaps, it's just cuz i'm foreign.
