Like on the old board. Do you think it's right, wrong...? Veganism is too radical? You like McDonald's way too much to stop? State your thoughts. I, obviously, will defend vegetarianism :P |

I eat meat.
I feel that meat is treated too glibly in most cultures. More aboriginal cultures like Inuit and Native Americans teach that the animal is sacred and you must accept that you have taken a life to feed yourself, and respect the animal accordingly by not being wasteful. A bit of that respect would be healthy for us to take on board. |

Mostly they have horrible lives and humans kill them on a sadist way. The add of hormones on the animals is also a thing that made me stay away of meat. |

Well, we need protein. No other good alternatives. Plus, meat tastes good. But I understand vegetarians. |

What does milk has to do with soy? As far as I know, soy milk is a good alternative for lactose intolerant people. |

Haha everyone tells me that! I love everything made with soy, nuggets, hamburguers, sausages, milk... I pay the double of a meat-made product but it's not like I have another choice (and continue to not eat meat). |

I've been vegetarian for a month once or twice, but I can't stay away from KFC and Nandos... Let's put it this way: Imagine that another animal, let's say deer, had evolved the skills to become the dominant race and we had become an under race. The only reason we became the top race and evolved into sentients is because we could kill. If deer had evolved the skills to kill, and to handle weapons, then we would be an under race, and we wouldn't of evolved from monkeys. We may of been able to walk a little, but not much. Do you like the image of a deer feasting on a human? No. That's one reason that I became a vegetarian; I though to myself: "It could be YOU!" |

as long as your happy and comfortable with the idea of having to kill an animal yourself to get the meat, i see no problem with it at all... If your not prepared to kill it, you have no right to eat it... |

I'm so meek I'm not comfortable with the idea of killing an animal myself, I'm one of those guys who'll spend ten minutes trying to catch a spider to put it out the window rather than kill it. I don't think it's realistic to expect people to be cool with killing things. I'd hate to fly a plane, but I'll fly in one. What I am willing to accept is that animals are murdered for my well-being, and I'm too much of a townmouse to do it myself. |

You need to know where that meat came from, not just think that it is a blob of red stuff that appears from nowhere. A part of that in my opinion is that you should be comfortable with the idea of it dying for your food, and that if you were put in a possition where it was kill an animal to eat or not eat and maybe starve etc etc, you would kill it. Otherwise its insulting to the animal that died for your food. |
