OOC: I know the release date is today but I got a bit behind because I thought I might have a chance to post songs over the weekend but it was very crazy, and I might not finish for a few days. The length of this song isn't because I'm getting lazy its because this song is very short and simple.

7. Cheating Death
Genre: Electronica, Experimental

Nick Talks "Cheating Death"
This is the only fully instrumental song on the album. It's here basically to act as the break between the first group of songs on the album and the songs that conclude the album more. It's a very short and very soft song. Synthesized notes begin to fade in. Their tone is very soft smooth and calming. They fade in and out for a little bit joined by a simple bassline. then this pattern of smoothness starts to break. There is a overpowering blow out your speakers kind of noise. Then the notes that were once soft and smooth begin to change to a more overdriven chaos as they phase in and out. There is some random clapping at this point. Then everything hits another blow out your speakers point and then there are random sounds of crashes and chaos.

8. Stand up and Fight
Genre: Rock, Ambient, Industrial

Look in the mirror
Look at yourself
Look at whats behind you
Examine this hell

Now turn off your fear
And make yourself
Look at what you've been through
And please tell

What is it in this life you couldn't live without?
Stand up and fight for it stand up and fight for yourself

Fight!
For your power or your right
Fight!
For your own life
Fight!
Because it's all you have left
All you have left is your will to survive

Feel yourself
Hold the keys
Burn the house
Tell the world

What is it in this life you couldn't live without?
Stand up and fight for it stand up and fight for yourself

Fight!
For your power or your right
Fight!
For your own life
Fight!
Because it's all you have left
All you have left is your will to survive

Fight!
For your power or your right
Fight!
For your own life
Fight!
Because it's all you have left
All you have left is your will to survive
Nick talks "Stand Up and Fight"
This is absolutely another favorite of mine off of the album. It starts with some very trippy ambient noises that fade in slowly and then very quickly out. There is also an undertone of the kind of sound you hear when you are underwater and someone is talking only except for talking there is a slightly dark melody. Meanwhile a very noisy industrial rock beat is played while I begin singing. My vocals in this song have an effect on them like John Lennon would always have. The melodies and drum create a sort of controlled chaos atmosphere for the song. Then as I begin to sing the prechorus the guitar is busted out playing one chord and letting it ring. At this point the vocal effect is taken off and I yell out the chorus. The guitar plays chords with some nice fills during the chorus. The industrial beat is joined by bass and the ambient noises stay subtly in the background. After the second chorus the guitar breaks into a very cool solo courtesy of my brother Grant. The guitar solo pulls the chaos of the rest of the noise together and controls it just like my vocals did while I was singing. Then at the end of the song all of the ambient noise evolves into a tremolo noise that carries into the next song.

This song is about taking a stand as I'm guessing you figured out. If you get past the rather odd lyrics in the verses it is so obviously about that. I'm not sure I was quite in my right mind when I wrote this song haha. It sort of goes along with the theme of the album which will become crystal clear as you hear the next couple of songs, but basically the theme of the album is to let go of yourself and just be alive. This song is more about fighting for the ability to do that.

Jennifer: I can see why this one is one of your favorites. I love songs with themes such as this one because these are the types to things us artist should put out there for people to hear. Overall this album is just terrific and you are a cool man. :)

Hannah Beth: I really enjoy this song :) It has a very positive and great message, and I love the music in it. It reminds me of my song 'Animal' almost the same message, great job! :D

9. The Mad Scientist
Genre: Hip Hop, Rap, Dance, Screamo

[Intro]
Fill your memory
With the whole
Past fantasy
Build your every
New soul
With new company

Ah, ah, ah, here we go

[Verse 1]
24/7 you're outta your mind
Got the whole world fucked man
And yeah you're just gettin' started
24/7 all men want to find
Is money and head its all they can
Yet no one figured that its so fabricated
All you'll find inside is a melody
Not the one you wrote
It's not the one you wanted
It's just the melody of the society
Yeah its insanity, no one can be free
I'm Nick Fuckin Palmer, follow me
In this revolution there is a path to serenity

[Chorus]
Get into your mind
(Whats that)
Get into your mind
Be alive
Feel the breeze
Let go of it all
Trust your instinct

[Verse 2]
So breakdown the walls and built new
beat down the hate and spread the rest
The corruption must have an end
THe world is a better place with you
With your bright smile doin its best
To the death your life you will defend
So rewrite the melody
Make it your own
Make it what you wanted
Its your melody of being free
It's no calamity it is now happy
I'm the mad scientist just being me
In this revolution there is a path to serenity

[Chorus]
Get into your mind
(Whats that)
Get into your mind
Be alive
Feel the breeze
Let go of it all
Trust your instinct

[Bridge]
Rebuild!
Serenity!
Get in your mind!
Get in your mind!
Get in your mind!
Mind!

[Chorus]
Get into your mind
(Whats that)
Get into your mind
Be alive
Feel the breeze
Let go of it all
Trust your instinct

Nick Talks "The Mad Scientist"
Another great song! I saved some of the best ones for last. It starts with a really cool dance beat with ambient synths as I sing the intro. My singing has an effect on it during the intro so that it sounds like I am singing through a guitar amp with the distortion turned all the way up. Then things breakdown into what is more classic hip hop. Some funky beats and a really nice bassline are thrown into the mix. By this point you are probably used to me rapping which I do on this song for both verses. THere is a little bit of horn synth in the background too which kinda pulls the whole song together. The chorus brings the funky bassline plus some subtle guitars, ambient noise, a great dance beat, and some very epic sounding brass synths. Then the bridge has basically the same musical elements as the chorus except I really bust out the screams here like I hadn't since the very first track on the album. That's basically the song!

This song is about life. The idea is that if you just kind of let go and let instinct lead the way instead of just following everyone else then everything will work out. Just let go of doubt and stress, and then live. The title of the song is the same as the title of the album. That is for two reasons. First, though, I must explain the mad scientist. The Mad Scientist is basically another side to me that is more crazy than my tame normal self. He is what I turn into when I do just let go and completely trust my instincts. A mad scientist also creates, so the album is called that because it is my grand creation. This song is called The Mad Scientist because it is about letting go and trusting your instincts.

10. New Religion
Genre: Rap, Dance, Rock

Breathe, sleep, fuck, repeat
But dont forget to eat
Smokes, booze, repeat again
To find a new zen
I say dont ever run away
Drink up you'll need it tonight
Yeah make sure your friends are ok
They'll need it for the coming fight
(The coming fight)

End the enemy
Find serenity
This is the new religion
And god knows whose religion?
Be uncontrollable
Not so gullible
This is the new religion
And god knows whose religion?

Dream big, then go to sleep
Wake up try to make the leap
Were all fucked you know
Like life's just one big show
I say dont ever run away
Drink up you'll need it tonight
Yeah make sure your friends are ok
They'll need it for the coming fight
(The coming fight)

End the enemy
Find serenity
This is the new religion
And god knows whose religion?
Be uncontrollable
Not so gullible
This is the new religion
And god knows whose religion?

End the enemy
Find serenity
This is the new religion
And god knows whose religion?
Be uncontrollable
Not so gullible
This is the new religion
And god knows whose religion?

Nick Talks "New Religion"
Probably a single in the future! I love this song to death. It starts with a really sweet dance beat based around the bass drum. There is a sci-fi phaser sound that sounds kind of alien like during the verse. There is some guitar in the background which is pretty nice. It is loaded with delay to go along with the tone of the song. I do the verse in a more sensitive tone than you might expect from me. Then the chorus comes as the wobble bass drops and a more rock n roll drum beat is played. There are some symphonic synths and the the alien like noise remains in the background, but the bass drop at the beginning of the chorus makes the whole song what it is. Then in the bridge there is a nice long instrumental progression. The symphonic synths have a very epic melody. The drum beat is steady but nothing overpowering. The guitar plays a nice complimenting melody in the background. The bass is intense and helps make the melody that climaxes as everything falls back into the last chorus.

This song is a very ironic one. It is also about the current state of the world in many ways. The first few lines are about people who just party and really nothing else. Of course towards the end of the verse I state how I'm not really against partying or anything, but of course there is more to life. Haha. The chorus is where I have my favorite lyrics of the whole album. Because the line where I say "and god knows whose religion?" is a question, means that I'm implying everyone is sort of making a big deal about this is the absolute way to live your life, but who really came up with those ideas and why. That all goes back to my idea with the album of just letting instinct take you wherever you end up. This is the obvious song to close the album with and one of my favorites.

Sounds vaguely like:

OOC: It's done! The last song is a bonus track that I might post tonight but this is the album. I'd love some feedback on the album as a whole. I spent a long time formulating how this album would be musically and lyrically. If any of you remember the initial release date for Nick's debut album was in August. I didn't postpone it because I wanted to have a storyline where Nik had a breakdown, I actually postponed it because I hated everything I had come up with. I really hope you liked it.
