Featuring a steady drum beat, jumpy piano chords and eerie strings, the haunting track features no vocals and focuses entirely on the sound. Mixing in disturbing screams, whimpers and muttered talking in the background, it's like the listener was right next to Vanity during her most troubled times last year, hearing everything that was going on. At its exact ten minute length, "Torment/Torture" is clearly not one for the radio, and it's probably one of those songs you could only listen to when in the mood for it, but Vanity claims the song became one of the most important on the whole album. "The song is pretty much like listening to my kidnap, my struggles, my torture, it was like writing the final chapter to a book," Vanity explains. "I previously made a complete ambient instrumental album before titled The Sound of Hell that I produced, and this was like a continuation of that. Although it doesn't exactly fit the sound of the rest of the album, it became one of the most important, and I think it'll be one of those songs on the album that will stand out to people the most. The song then pauses for a moment, before moving into an almost R&B inspired beat that remains throughout the rest of the song. Vanity's vocals are echoed and distorted throughout, just like many other songs on the album, it's proving to be an ongoing matter. But with Vanity's countless performances, there's more than enough evidence out there to prove that she can sing without the studio trickery. Her vocals also change pitch at some points in the track, but not too often to make the effect overdone and annoying. "In this case, the devil is actually my old manager," Vanity states bluntly, but it's not really a surprise. "I just thought it would be interesting to make a song about what it would be like between us if we were to meet again. What we'd say to each other, how I would react to the whole situation, it was definitely the most difficult song on the album to write. But of course, the most challenging tasks in life are the ones that feel most rewarding when you accomplish them, so it's definitely an amazing achievement of my own to have the finished song on the album." It's everything you'd want from a chaotic electronic track from Vanity herself, combining white noise with frantic, high pitched bleeps that remain throughout the whole song. Her vocals are barely audible at the beginning, quiet and drowned out by the music, but by the chorus, her voice grabs your attention with ease. It's one of the rare moments on the album where her vocals aren't distorted at all, it's clear Good Mourning was never meant to be a vocal showcase of a record, and more of a cold, distant sounding album, but those wondering what happened to Vanity's vocals should be impressed on this track. "I first premiered a little bit of this track at Total Annihilation, so I'm sure those who have been dying to hear the full thing ever since will be glad to have this finally grace their ears," Vanity says with confidence, sonically, she describes it as one of her favourites on the record. "I just think it's one of the more mysterious, unique sounding songs on the album, it's far from my favourite with the lyrics, but they're simple and put across what I wanted." With its infectious beat that's full of searing synthesizers and bouncy piano chords to accompany it, it's definitely the go-to track for something more happy and summery, and sure to go down as a Vanity classic if it gets chosen as a future single. Vanity's vocals sound unapologetic and loud, perfectly matching the cheerful, energetic feel to the song, a Vanity song hasn't sounded this carefree and fun in a long time. It's as if Vanity's rubbing it in everyone's faces that she's finally moved on from her worst times, and she still knows how to put out a good party track after everything she's been through. "You'll read the lyrics and think that it's a really dark sounding song, but I think that was just too easy," Vanity explains. "I wanted it to be a bit cheeky and playful, even sarcastic in a way, branding myself a porcelain doll for people to break. I'm a lot fucking stronger than that! I had a lot of fun writing this, I was so drunk when writing it, so why take away that fun, carefree nature that I had when writing it? I think in the end, to make the sound of it just completely fun was the right thing to do. We very rarely get party songs with meaningful lyrics, so you're welcome." Radio Vine is a wonderful, creative woman who's really pushing the boundaries in pop music, it's those people who I like most. Luke Striker has such a wonderful voice, not to mention that he's very good looking, which doesn't hurt. My female fans will no doubt go crazy for him. Kato is a rising star that I think will become big on the pop scene this year, love him or hate him, he might not be to everyone's taste, but if you can get people talking, you're clearly doing something right. This sexy, synth-heavy club track is ready to cement itself as a classic in Vanity's discography, and will be available to request on radio from next week. For a reminder of the song, take a look below. Described as the most carefree, wild and fun track on the album by Vanity herself, "Leather" is the perfect track for underground clubs looking for dark, deep electronic bass lines and pounding synths as her echoed, seductive and slightly distorted vocals glide smoothly over this slick club track. Remaining mid-tempo throughout, "Leather" hasn't got the typical song structure that builds into a soaring chorus, instead the verses are where the hardest beat lies, before moving into a light, airy chorus where Vanity almost whispers the lyrics in a confident, demanding tone. In the song, Vanity plays the role of a money hungry businessman waiting to create the next sex symbol in music, stealing away her innocence and purity by forcing her to have sex with him, and dressing her up in provocative outfits to sell her to the public. "We see it happen all the time, every other year we see a new girl on the pop scene, all innocent and cute, but as time goes by, the clothes start to come off... sex sells as they say," Vanity reveals. "On a more serious album, this was the one that I found the most fun and enjoyable, it remains one of my favourites just because it's so bold, it's got a lot of character, and the beat is fucking immense."
