Baron Jonson and The Silver Spirits - Live At Grey Ghost

March 1st, 2012

UserPostedImage

The stage was already prepared. He could see it from where he and the band were standing. The seats were slowly getting filled and he was counting time down until show-time. Baron had just had a slight argument with his father, but all was resolved now. He was happy for that, because his nerves would have been shot if the fight had not been worked out. Now it was just him, his band, and the audience.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, Baron Johnson and The Silver Spirits!"

The band all exchanged a look of confirmation and stepped up onto the stage. Baron took the microphone as everyone else got themselves prepared.

"Hello everyone. I'm Baron Johnson. These fine fellows behind me are The Silver Spirits. That's Miller Benson on guitar over here, and Alan Mason on drums. We want to welcome you to opening night here at The Grey Ghost Concert Hall. My father and I have worked very hard to get this place up and running, and it's nice to see all of you folks here to see the show. Thank you."

He smiled as the crowd politely applauded and then turned to the band behind him. "Let's go guys!"

They opened with the same song they had opened Total Annihilation 5 with. It had become their own tradition to open with "Mystic Devil." It just got the entire room in a good mood for the rest of the show.

"I thought I could break out and live like a rebel
but baby I soon found you were a conniving devil
You were playing with star dust and breaking the blade
I thought you were perfect but you fell under the grade

Mystic Devil! You took my heart and my soul!
Mystic Devil! Took it and gave it away!
Mystic Devil! Now I can never be whole!
Mystic Devil...there's nothing left to say.

Trust me now, but don't trust me then
You say it's coming, I ask you when
There's trouble brewing beneath the ground
They say it's nothing but I've been around

Mystic Devil! You tried to bring me down!
Mystic Devil! The drinks are on me!
Mystic Devil! Order another round!
Mystic Devil...There's nothing left to see!"

Baron loved playing the solo for this song, because he had come up with it by complete accident. The more he thought about it, he realize most of his best work came by accident. He wondered if it was like that for everyone. He turned and looked corner crowd and flashed a grin at them as he let loose.

The song came to an end and he went straight to the mic.

"How are you all doing tonight anyway? Huh? Well, we want you feeling good and enjoying yourselves here tonight you know. So, here's another fun one."

This song, "Ashes to Ashes" was one he had co-written with the band a long time ago. It was actually one of their oldest bits. He still loved to play it though and when Miller broke into the opening riff, Baron couldn't help but smile again.

"Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust
You said to get on with my life, and I know that I must.
Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust
But you have broken me and you shattered my trust!

Eye for an Eye and Tooth for a Tooth
You gave me everything but you couldn't give me the truth!
Eye for an Eye and Tooth for a Tooth
You said it was obvious but you didn't have any proof!"

This song was much more country, and folky than the last. Baron had never gave the band any specific genre label, and the band tended to like it better that way. If a song was good, then they would play it.

Through out this song, Baron was looking around the building trying to see any imperfection he might have missed when the place was being built. For the most part, he felt everything was running smoothly.

UserPostedImage

"Alright, this next one is called "Fire.""

This song was Baron's view on politics turned into a song. He had to admit it was heavier than most would like, but it was honest. That was enough for Baron.

"Broken cities and dying towns,
If you need me, I'll be under ground
The King is missing and he's hiding away
He's safe for now but his death awaits
The people run scared and poor, searching for an unlocked door
But no help will come to them, they remain the nations whore
Old men with aching bones, sit upon their broken thrones
But from the sky will rain a vengeance, and they have been forewarned

There's fire in the clouds and the buildings burn!
Make your way through the crowds, the claim it's your turn!
The waters wash out the rot, but look how much of it we have got!
The flame is small but it sill burns hot, and I promise I have not forgot!"

The next 3 songs ran just as smoothly as the first three, and the band were having a great time. The crowd seemed to be enjoying it as well, and some people were beginning to dance. Baron took the mic once more.

"How are we doing? (he pauses as the crowd cheers) Good, good. Well, we got a little bit of a surprise for you tonight. (again) Yea, it's a good one. Here tonight, to perform for you all for the first time in years, is my father...Johnny Johnson!"

Baron took a step back as the crowd lit up and Johnny walked up onto the stage. It was quite a sight to see as the man walked up and took the mic as if he had been performing every night, rather than just having taken a nearly 4 year hiatus.

Baron watches as Johnny spoke to the crowd.

"Hello everyone. Nice to see you all again! It's been a while, I must admit it...and it's good to be up on a stage again. This was sprung on me by Baron at last notice, so no guarantees that I'll be any good. (The audience laughs.) Okay, this song is called "The Grey Ghost." My friend Jack Jameson wrote this one, a long time ago."

Baron loved this song, and always had. His band; The Silver Spirits, were even named after the song.

"Let us raise our glasses and give a toast
to the lonely fool, the crazed Grey Ghost.

He rides alone and he rides free
I wonder if he rides with me.

So raise your glasses, and give a toast
to the lonely fool, the crazed Grey Ghost.

He sheds his blood just to save his soul
But deep inside there is a hole.

So raise your glasses and give a toast
to the lonely fool, the crazed Grey Ghost!"

Johnny sang expertly, and Baron loved playing back up to him. Any signs of rust on his fathers vocal chords were either not there, or Johnny had covered them up very well.

It was also nice to see Johnny enjoying himself on stage again. It had been a long time and he had always missed playing live, it as his passion after all. His health wouldn't permit a tour of any kind, so something like this was just what the old man needed.

"Thank you!" called Johnny before waving Baron up to the mic. "I want Baron to sing this one with me, it's one we wrote together."

Baron took the mic and chuckled, he knew what song Johnny was talking about.

"This one's called "Redemption", and it's brand new."

They both took a step back and then forward again as the music began.

"Everything just seemed to go wrong, and I don't know if I can live that long
to fix everything that I have broken
To sing a song of happiness, is to lies and I'm not impressed
so fix everything that you have broken
The stars and moon up in the sky, saw the truth and they saw the lie
so fix everything that you have broken
There was a smoke that clouded the direction, and I know I'll never find my redemption
to fix everything that I have broken

The mind is different when it grows old, and the heart of ice just sits in the cold
But I keep searching for Redemption
There was salvation in her eye's, but somehow I knew that wasn't right
She'll keep searching for Redemption
She did everything to keep my chin up, but in the end I had had enough
She'll keep searching for Redemption
I had hope and my faith was strong, but truth be told I had waited too long
But I'll keep searching for Redemption"

Baron and Johnny took turned with each verse, and then shared the last one. As the last note rang out, they exchanged a hand-shake turned hug, and Johnny left the stage with his arms raised.

"Give it up for Johnny Johnson everyone!" Baron yelled before turning to the band and nodding.

The final song began quietly and slowly grew. As it did Baron spoke to the audience one more time.

"This song is about those dark places. You know what I'm talking about, those places we go sometimes. Those deep, dark, shadowy places we go. We tell ourselves that these places are filled with light and color...until the night is revealed to us. Good night everyone, thanks for coming out."

Alan hit the bass drum and the song was off.

"I saw rainbows where the sky was black
And I can't believe that I fell for that
You always begged me! Not. To. Leave!
But you were just using me, abusing me.

I looked through memories, to find where I went wrong
The only thing I could find, was that you just never belonged
I was blind to reason, and I just couldn't see it!
Like a pond in a dessert plain, nothing seemed fit.

I saw rainbows where the sky was black
And I can't believe that I fell for that
You always begged me! Not. To. Leave!
But you were just using me, abusing me."

With that, the band took their bows and raised their hands, and then left the stage.

BRANDON CAULFIELD & THE MIDNIGHT RUNNERS
LIVE FROM GREY GHOST CONCERT HALL [3/3/2012]

UserPostedImage

It’s been almost an hour since the 2,000+ crowd have been ushered inside the building, the majority of which have managed to locate the bar area and have a couple of drinks before tonight’s performance, in the lobby of the building a voice comes over the sound system, “This is a 20 minute warning, could you please make your way to the auditorium for tonight’s live performance, thank you.” And with that announcement the audience seats started to quickly fill up with expectant fans and as they finally start to settle into their seat and positions for the evening a booming voice comes over the sound system, “LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WELCOME TO THE STAGE … BRANDON CAULFIELD AND THE MIDNIGHT RUNNERS!”

The crowd cheer as the seven-piece band make their way out onstage, one by one with Caulfield being the last to make his way out onto the center of the stage, wearing a leather jacket and dark jeans carrying an acoustic guitar over his shoulder, he steps over at the microphone with a large smile across his face, he brushes the hair out of his face for a moment before stepping up to the microphone, he looks around at the members of his band as they find their places onstage, “You guys good?” he says before counting into the first song, the slow-burning acoustic based, ‘Into The Wild’ which helps ease the crowd into the show as well as the new band, it’s almost the same composition as the studio version but with a little more power with the additional guitars, Brandon’s intensity with his vocals as clear as ever, “I’m looking through the boarded-up windows and the empty streets/When I come to the realisation that this isn’t home anymore to me/So I’m packing my bags and heading out into the dark and into the wild.” The strings of the acoustic guitars could be heard very clearly and already the atmosphere is as you’d expect from a Brandon Caulfield concert.

As the song finishes, the band doesn’t give the audience a moment to feel the emotion and let the songs story sink in before they quickly begin into the next song, a piano introduction this time, played by the young dark haired woman to the right of the stage Sarah Jade Harrison, and again the approach is to give a slow feel to the show as he sings, “No matter where you go you’ll always have memories/memories of how that you just can’t seem to shake loose/No matter what you do and where you go, those memories won’t ever be gone/Dream on, young one, dream on” the primary combination of piano and acoustic guitar are as you’d expect once more, not much movement from Brandon which on proves to solidify his reputation as an awkward and shy performer but perhaps those type of songs will always call for a slow and steady approach.

UserPostedImage

A brief moment to take a drink from a small bottle of water set down on the floor next to an amp is enough to let guitarist Jakob Francis make the switch from acoustic to electric, a decision which proves to have a rather large effect on the rest of the show, giving the change from the soft mournful acoustic feel to a much more energetic feel and almost instantly the effect is clear, as Brandon once more counts into the next song, still playing his acoustic guitar but singing with more energy and pace and less purpose on the emotional side of things, “Lucy this is your game/So just go and win it/Because pretty baby/The sky is the limit” not exactly the deep and meaningful lyrics that have come to make Caulfield a respected songwriter but almost a typical rock chorus, the audience have almost instantly become more energetic with the change up of pace and it looks like Brandon is starting to find a little more comfort onstage.

Pounding drums signal the start of the next song, the electric guitar from Jakob Francis is now thrashing and angry in combination with the drums and the vocals from Brandon are sang with almost a resentful growl as he sings about the breakdown of love, “When you are here I can’t help but feel so warm/But now that you’re gone, I’m sat all alone/You burn through my heart like wild fire once more/You write me a note and slide it under my door/And as I stare it says to me/I’m working on a mystery” he returns to the frustration and confusion for the final verse of the song, “Now nothing is happening in my lonely life/I can’t seem to let you out of my mind tonight/Your gone and there’s no sign of you coming back home/I receive a letter and it read, ‘you’re better off alone’” he steps back from the microphone after singing that final line in order to let the words and the feeling truly sink into the audience.

Brandon switches to an electric guitar during a momentary break from the stage, when he returns he unleashes a song with perhaps even more anger than the previous, a song in which Brandon fully remove’s that soft vocal that he’s so known for and replaces it with something very rough and angry, the subject matter on ‘Fighting For A System Built To Fail’ is quite obvious and his feelings on the matter are clearly quite strong, the thrashing electric guitar and pounding of the drums echo his vocals perfectly as he sings, “We’ve tried to find a way to resolve all of our problems/But one thing is pretty damn clear to me/Love is the most powerful tool on this earth/So why can’t we just let things be.” Which builds the momentum for Caulfield to fully unleash a rock vocal that perhaps wouldn’t be expected from the indie singer-songwriter with the soft dulcet tones but the lyrics call for anger and Brandon heeds the call as he sings, “We’re waging wars and closing doors/We’re heading out to sea and setting sail/But we all the truth/We’re fighting for a system built to fail.”

Another guitar change for Caulfield as he brings back that intensity that he’s known for, he stands centre stage with one spotlight shining down on him as he reverts to the wistful emotion of one of his most recent works, ‘Haunted Memories Of A Former Hero’ tells a story more than any of his previous songs, Caulfield is clearly aware of the amount of emotional and perhaps depressing songs that he has in his back catalogue and addresses this issue with an element of humour, “Are you guys alright? Are you hanging in there? I know it can be a long night for anyone that ever comes out to one of my shows, It’s not exactly uplifting is it? Well spare a thought for me, I’ve gotta place this stuff on a regular basis, I’m sure there’s fans that say, ‘Oh have you heard of Brandon Caulfield?’ or ‘Oh have you heard his new song?’ … I’m pretty sure their answers are always the same, ‘Yeah the guy who sings about the rain’” He smiles as he continues with the song and he pushes that aforementioned emotion to the forefront as he stands still and softly sings into the microphone with a soft drum beat and only the twanging of the acoustic guitars to shadow the songs emotion as he sings, “The sun it never rises in this old town anymore/It’s replaced by haunted memories of your youth and nothing more/Everything that you once knew and everything that made you feel safe/Have gone away like pictures burnt, like old friends, like former sins/Just blowing away like those green leaves that scatter in the wind.”

UserPostedImage

As the previous song ends, the band leave the stage briefly before returning after a couple of minutes, Brandon now wearing a checked shirt and looking a little more refreshed, he stares over at Sarah Jade Harrison, sat at the piano at the right of the stage, he nods at her and she starts to play a piano introduction as they begin to sing in harmony with a cover of Tom Petty’s ‘Southern Accents’, the vocals combined provide a beautiful moment as they sing, “There’s a southern accent, where I come from/The young ones call it country, the Yankee’s call it dumb/I got my own way of talking, but everything gets done/With a southern accent, where I come from.” The melodic quality of the song combined with the male and female vocals from Brandon and Sarah have the audience in the very palm of their hand as they finish up the song, “There’s a dream, I keep having/Where my mama comes to me/And kneels down over by the window/And says a prayer for me/I’ve got my own way of praying/But everyone’s begun/With a southern accent, where I come from.”

Caulfield steps up to the microphone before the next song begins, “Alright then, I think you guys have suffered enough.” He smirks, “Time for something a little more energetic.” He smiles and nods to each member of the band individually in order to make sure they’re all ready, he counts into the song and the band erupt into life playing like an Irish folk bar band as he begins singing and moving back and forth around the stage with the majority of his backing band, “Oh, what is this land America, so many travel there/I’m going now while I’m still young, my darling meet me there/Wish me luck my lovely, I’ll send for you when I can/And we’ll make our home in the American land.” He sings along with a smile on his face as he continues, “There’s diamonds in the sidewalk, the gutters lined in song/Dear, I hear that beer flows through the faucets all night long/There’s treasure for the taking for any hard working man/Who will make his home in the American land.” It’s almost like a carnival atmosphere that’s provided and marks a quite memorable way to end the show.

Aimery Achai: Live at Grey Ghost

March 11, 2012

Setlist:
Must Be Love
Back Here (BBMak Cover)
I Wish They Knew
War (Come Together)
I'm Bad (The Last Vegas Cover)
C'est La Vie (Encore)

Aimery is backstage preparing for the show. He's a bit nervous, he's never performed in front of a crowd this big. He takes a big breath, the announcer calls out his name. Aimery smiles as the crowd cheers, he grabs his guitar and walks on stage.

"Good afternoon everyone, its a pretty sweet day. And because of that, I got a sweet little song for you guys. Its called "Must Be Love", and I'm sure everyone felt this way at some point. Its a ska song, and it has that summer feeling.

The keyboardist plays, followed by the trumpets and drums. Aimery sings the first verse.

What is this feeling coming over me,
I thought it could never be,
I feel weird when I'm next to you
Could it be love that I'm feeling
Or just some infatuation

Must be, must be, must be love
Love, love, love
Must be, must be, must be
love, love, love

Blessed with the most beautiful eyes,
I know that you are mines
You have style and grace,
and I know you were made in heaven
Because no girl on earth could compare
I don't know how I can bare a world without you
And I must admit, I love you

Must be, must be, must be love
Love, love, love
Must be, must be, must be
love, love, love

"Now don't go on thinking I'm a softy *laughs*, but sometimes I like writing something simple and nice. I can't always be outspoken about today's world. Now, I got a cover for you guys. Its a song called "Back Here" by BBMak, it came out like 10yrs ago. But, its one of my favorites because of how smooth it sounds. Its very relaxing. So here we go.!"

1, 2, 3 ,4

Baby set me free from this misery
I can't take it no more
Since you ran away nothing's been the same
Don't know what I'm living for

Here I am so alone
And there's nothing in this world I can do

Until you're back here, baby
Miss you, want you, need you so
Until you're back here, baby, yeah

There's a feeling inside
I want you to know
You are the one
And I can't let you go

So I told you lies even made you cry
Baby I was so wrong
Girl, I promise you now my love is true
This is where my heart belongs

'Cause here I am so alone
And there's nothing in this world I can do

Until you're back here, baby
Miss you, want you, need you so
Until you're back here, baby, yeah

There's a feeling inside
I want you to know
You are the one
And I can't let you go

And I wonder
Are you thinking of me 'cause I'm thinking of you
And I wonder
Are you ever coming back in my life

'Cause here I am so alone
And there's nothing in this world I can do

Until you're back here, baby
Miss you, want you, need you so
Until you're back here, baby, yeah

There's a feeling inside
I want you to know
You are the one
And I can't

Until you're back here, baby
Until you're back here, baby
Until you're back here, baby

There's a feeling inside
I want you to know
You are the one
And I can't

Until you're back here, baby
Until you're back here, baby
Until you're back here, baby

"Nice song isn't it? Well now its time to get a bit serious, told you I wasn't a softy. These two songs are about society. The first one is called "I Wish They Knew", and its about politicians not giving a crap about us, they only do things for self gain. I'm not saying there should anarchy, but I'm saying we should stand up. We are the people, and we hold the power. I will play this song completely stripped and with only my guitar."

Living in a world full of corruption,
and politicians lying for our money
soon there will be a eruption of ideologies

I wish they they know, that money can't save their lives
when the people rise they'll cause a worldwide disruption
You got now where to hide, we know your lies

Boy I wish they knew
Oh boy I wish they knew
Boy I wish they knew

I want you to take a walk with me
So I wish you can see what I see
A boy who doesn't get enough to eat,
because his mom can't make ends meet

How do you sleep while the world suffers?
How can you hate someone because they are gay?
and why raise taxes so you can live the way you do?

Boy I wish I knew
Oh boy I wish I knew
Boy I wish I knew

Do you know about hard work?
living on less then minimum wage
and not having enough to eat

Do you know their are homeless people on the street?
Living on drugs to take the pain away

And what about a mother who sells her body
to keep the clothes on her back
No you don't know how they feel

But I wish you did
I really wish you did

"Now, I will play another song about war. We more than every are getting close to a real war. Can this world ever achieve peace? This is one of my favorite songs, it contains so many references to past events and people, I hope you can figure it out. I also used the refrain from "Get Together" its really the bow tie to the song, in fact I was really inspired by songs from the 60s, and the whole folk music. This song will be on my debut album, which I hope comes out this summer. I hope you guys love this one, its called War(Come Together)"

They say they're gonna bomb us,
murder, and rape us
Make fear in our hearts,
and panic in our minds

Pillage our towns,
and cleanse our culture
They want war,
they want to make us no more
Ask yourself this,
Who am I living for?

C'mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try and love one another right now

War what is is good for?
Pain and suffering?
Or our leaders ego boost?

Peace and love may sound cliche
But we must come together for the sake of it
A great man once said
an eye for an eye will make us all blind
Don't fight for the sake of mankind

C'mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try and love one another right now

Put flowers in their guns,
and love in their hearts
Remember those weapons will kill your sons,
Our parents fought for freedom,
in that hot summer of love
They preached about making love not war

So put down your differences,
and acknowledge your similarities
You will see we are all the same,
in our special way

C'mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try and love one another right now

Our problems are like dust in the wind
they fly away and never return
Lets all sit down, and make solutions,
to a temporary problems
Hold your arms, and only use them for a sweet embrace

C'mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try and love one another right now

C'mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try and love one another right now

"I really hope you guys liked it. To brighten things up, I got to upbeat songs. This one is a cover of a song called "I'm Bad" by the Last Vegas. Its a really great song, it makes me feel quite bad when I hear it. And I want you guys to be bad, live a little. be reckless."

Follow me to your demise and just drink this poison down
I'll make an offer you can't refuse, the devil's come to town
I'll steer you wrong and let you know that all that glitters gold
So won't you let me have your soul, if I could be so bold

I turn off all the lights, it's better
When everything goes black, well everything goes black

I'm bad, it's true
There's a little bit of me in every one of you
Well I'm bad, it's true
You can say that I'm the devil and there's nothing you can do about it
Nothing you can do cause I'm bad

Sucked the life right out of you, you once were so alive
Rotting, stinking, wilted rose, completely paralyzed
Destruction is in high gear and your heart is what I sell
Now pack your bags, we're leaving here, I'm taking you to Hell

I turn off all the lights, it's better
When everything goes black, everything goes black

I'm bad, it's true
There's a little bit of me in every one of you
Well I'm bad, it's true
You can say that I'm the devil and there's nothing you can do
Cause I'm bad, it's true
There's a little bit of me in every one of you
Fucking bad, it's true
You can say that I'm the devil and there's nothing you can do about it
Nothing you can do cause I'm bad

Love this, the demons don't begin in your heart
The sweetest taste of death, on your lips from the start

Well I'm bad, it's true
There's a little bit of me in every one of you
Well I'm bad, it's true
You can say that I'm the devil and there's nothing you can do
Cause I'm bad, it's true
There's a little bit of me in every one of you
Fucking bad, it's true
You can say that I'm the devil and there's nothing you can do about it
Nothing you can do cause I'm bad

"WOO! Now I know you guys won't go without this special treat of mines. By debut single, which is a hit I hear. Thank you guys! If you guys are still in your seats, get up. Dance and sing with me. Here's "C'est La Vie"

Drums!! *Crowd sings along*

L-I-F-E
C'est-La-Vie
L-I-F-E,
C'est-La-Vie

C'est La Vie, That is life
Living the way that I please,
Doing things, having fun
You only get one life to live
I'm young today, I'm may die tomorrow
Lets have fun and forget our troubles
And kiss them away like bubbles

L-I-F-E
C'est La Vie
L-I-F-E,
C'est La Vie

Why be sad,
when life is the best thing you ever had
Hold my hand, I'll guide you through
this world, and unfurl the mysteries that we call life
Our troubles are here today, gone tomorrow
But I'll be with you forever

L-I-F-E
C'est La Vie
L-I-F-E,
C'est La Vie

Baron Johnson and The Silver Spirits - Live At Grey Ghost

April 5th, 2012

UserPostedImage

Baron had been busy for several weeks managing various aspects of The Grey Ghost Music Center, and up until just a few moments before the curtain call, he hadn't given much thought to the band. Baron had spoken with Miller and Alan about working on a new album after things quieted down for him, but thus far he had not had any luck. The Music Center was not going well, and in fact was losing a great deal of money. It troubled Baron to think of how much of himself he had put into the idea and the project, and to see it flounder. But that was all part of why he was performing tonight. He needed something to take his mind off of the red ink, and music was his escape. Miller and Alan had been just as ready to take up the job as he was, luckily enough. So there he sat, waiting for their name to be called.

"Baron Johnson and The Silver Spirits!"

There it was. Time to go... He stood and smiled at the guys as they both walked out before him. Pausing before brushing the curtain aside, Baron drew in a deep breath and exhaled. Slowly, he stepped out to greet the crowd.

A small crowd, smaller than the last time he had performed here. About half of the room was full this time, and the mood was quiet.

"Good evening everyone! My name is Baron Johnson, and we are The Silver Spirits...we'll be your entertainment for the night." He smiled and the audience cheered lightly.

A damn shadow of a smile that isn't there
A distant memory of the Summer Fair

I thought everyone was on my side
But you, you were never on mine

You had your own things to be working on
and you told me that I was wrong

You told me to go to hell but
I'm already there

UserPostedImage

They usually opened with "Mystic Devil", as it was their most well known hit since they played at Total Annihilation 5. This song however, was a new one. "The Tower." A sad song, and one that Baron felt echoed his recent failures with Grey Ghost. It came across as a love song, but he knew the real problem he was singing about, and the real towers that were falling down. He felt a lot of resentment towards the music industry itself for the fledgling state of his company, but he tried to ignore those sorts of thoughts. After all, the music industry had been very good to him over the years. Still, he felt more than a little off.

You watch your words and you watch her moves
But there's just far too much to lose

You hope it will all go well
There's no way that it can

Next up was another old song, one that Baron had written at the age of eighteen. It was the only one from that time period that he still cared for, and it seemed to fit best as the next son the set list. "Fare Thee Well"

Try as you might, you will not succeed
The world is burning and you are in hell

There's only one place that your path can lead
So follow it blindly and Fare Thee Well

Ah, happy memories. Thought Baron. This one was about an old girlfriend, teenage stuff naturally. But even these lyrics seemed to fit his current situation. Dammit.

Trying to pick up the mood of the quiet audience, next up was a song with a bit of happier vibe. "Carry Me While I Hold You Up"

Thunder and Lightning came down upon us
I took my motor bike and you took the bus

You watched me crash and you witnessed my run
You have to Carry Me While I Hold You Up!"

Suddenly, Baron turned to face the band. Miller was smiling and bobbing his head as usual, and Alan almost looked as if he were laughing. Baron couldn't help but feel guilty. How could he feel so terrible about his situation when they were being drug around by Baron. They were still waiting on him to start working on an album, and yet they were waiting patiently. Despite all of this, they still supported him as he struggled with Grey Ghost. Baron knew it was time to act.

UserPostedImage

"Ladies and gentlemen, I want to first thank you for coming out tonight. Thank you. I also want to take this time to announce TWO very important things about this bands future. First, we will again be performing at Total Annihilation in May. (waits for cheers to stop) That's right! TA6! It's gonna be a lot of fun but...there is something more important...."

Baron turned to look at the guys again, and smiled at them as they looked on in confusion.

"We are going be starting work, on writing and recording our fist album in the coming weeks."

Again, the people in attendance cheered politely. But Miller and Alan both cheered and jumped up to hug Baron. After the initial excitement died down, Baron called for "Mystic Devil".

I thought I could break out and live like a rebel
but baby I soon found you were a conniving devil

Mystic Devil...There's nothing left to see!

Feeling lost and feeling broken
Somethings are better left unspoken
Friends of mine are friends for life
I guess we're lucky to be trapped in white

Mystic Devil! There is no grey bit of chalk!
Mystic Devil! So put the paper down!
Mystic Devil! We don't even have to talk!
Mystic Devil! Together we've been around!

Jennifer Armstrong - Live At Grey Ghost Concert Hall

April 8th, 2012

UserPostedImage

Just hours before tonight's show, thousands of people lined up outside to get the chance to see Jennifer perform at Grey Ghost Concert Hall. As they waited for their tickets to be collected, Jennifer's bus arrived, pulling into the back entrance of the building, where she would be making her entrance through. Stepping off the bus, the fans begin to cheer, causing Jen to look over towards them. She smiled and waved, making them even more excited to see her. Loving their enthusiasm, she walked over towards the gate that separated her from them to show her appreciation. "Wow! You guys are all here for me? Thank you so much. You don't know what that means to me." She smiles once more and the crowd begins to chant, "Jennifer, Jennifer, Jennifer" repeatedly. Jennifer stands there, taking it all in before grinning. Her bodyguard, that had been standing by her, whispered in her ear to let her know it was time to go. She nodded and turned back to her fans. "I have to go now, see you all at the show. Love you!." She waved goodbye before turning to walk back with her bodyguard and a few others, towards her dressing room. Now in her dressing room, she began preparing for the show, first changing into her outfit. While she changed, she thought about what had just taken place outside with her fans. She always adored how much they loved and looked up to her, It was one of the things that made being a celebrity worth it. Though she could live without all the negative aspects that came with it, she definitely couldn't live without her fans. Without them she would be nothing and she never let herself forget that. Her hair stylist called for her, while she still remained day dreaming. Breaking out of it, she looked over to her stylist. "Sorry, what did you say?" Her stylist, Jane, laughed before speaking. "I said, 30 minutes until showtime." Jennifer's eyes widened and she quickly scurried off to finish dressing. "Omg! I have to hurry. How did the time get by me like that? Geez." Jane laughed yet again, watching Jennifer rushing around the room. "Calm down girly. Everything will be alright. Lets just work on your hair so you can be ready okay? Jennifer nodded and calmed herself. She walked over to the chair, sitting down to let Jane begin straightening her hair. Ten minutes later, she was done, just in time for Jennifer to heading out towards the stage. "All done girly." Jennifer looked into the mirror, liking what she saw. "Thanks. You're the best at this." She smiled then stood to hug her. "Now I better get going. Wish me luck." Jane smiled, placing her hand on Jennifer's shoulder. "Good luck." Jennifer grinned then turned to grab her jacket, putting it on before exiting the room. As she walked closer towards the way to the stage, she saw her band, scattered about. Once they saw her approaching, they all stopped what they were doing, turning to look at her, smiling. "Okay guys, lets huddle up and say prayer before we go on." They each came in closer, forming a circle and joining hands as Jennifer led the payer. "First I want to thank all, you've each been incredibly amazing and patient with me. I couldn't ask for a better group than you all. Secondly, I pray that all goes well tonight and that we have an amazing show. With that said, lets go out there and have some fun!" Everyone puts one hand in the center, shouting "Stay Strong," before breaking their hands apart. Jennifer and her band walked onto the stage, getting into place, as the curtain remained closed. She could hear people settling into the stadium, just as the announcer walked onto the stage. "Ladies and gentleman, please welcome Jennifer Armstrong!" The crowd begin to scream as the curtain pulled back, revealing Jennifer and her band on stage. Her band begin to play softly the beat to "Queen Bee." Jennifer approached the mic stand, looking around at the audience, smiling, before she leaned into it to speak.

Jennifer: "This is the song that started it all."

She smiled and took the mic off the mic stand before walking over closer to the edge of the stage. Her band begin to pick up speed with the music and Jennifer held up the mic to sing a few words of the song. Meanwhile, the audience stood, mouthing along the words to the song as they snapped pictures and recorded on their phones.

I Dreamt Of Being Famous
I Dreamt Of Being A Superstar
Driving All Around In La La Land
In The Hottest Freaking Car

I Stopped Off At A Studio, Then I Sang A Little Song
“Was That Ok Mrs, Or Was It Really Wrong.”
She Said You Got Yourself A Record Deal With It
Got Yourself A Lifetime Dream Ticket

So I Sang

UserPostedImage

Before the chorus approaches, Jennifer moves across the stage, as her band continues playing behind her. She leans into her mic to speak; "If you know the words, let me hear you sing it loud you guys!" The song breaks down into the chorus and the audience begins to sing along with Jennifer as she sings out the remainder of the song.

I’m Gonna Be A Queen Bee
Can’t You See, This Is It For Me
I’m Gonna Be Rocking The Clubs In La La Land
And Rocking On MTV

I’m Gonna Be A Queen Bee
Can’t You See, This Is It For Me
I’m Gonna Be Rocking The Clubs In La La Land
And Rocking On MTV

So I Drove Back Down To My Hometown
I Took A Look Around And Raised A Smile
I Told Everyone I’m Off To LA Today
May Not Be Back For A While

UserPostedImage

Jen walks over towards her Yamaha keyboard, placing her mic in the stand as she hits the last note of the song. The music suddenly stops and the crowd cheers. She looks out at them, smiling, enjoying the moment before she leans into the mic to say a few words, hesitating as the crowd seems to be cheering louder. Eventually they quiet down and she's able to speak.

Jennifer: You know, just last year I ended up taking a break because the pressures of much where getting to me. Left and right I just had people saying all kinds of negative things about me. To make things worse, I was still feeling down about my brother's passing. Every day I struggled getting up because I lost my one and only best friend. Though its been about a year and some months since he's been gone, it never gets any easier. So when I left, I just had to take sometime out for myself because I was just so angry inside all the time. Once I got the help that I needed, it dawned on me that Max wouldn't want to see me like this, he'd want me to be happy. I was also feeling like I had let you guys down because I left so soon. Those are the very reasons why I came back, to make Max happy and to make all of you happy. This next song, helped me to express my feelings about losing my brother and I apologize if I mess up. This song has a way of getting to me each and every time.

Jennifer grabs for her bottled water that is beside her, taking a sip before putting it back down. She clears her throat then begins playing "My Heart Is Not For Taking." The audience looks on in admiration for her, some swaying back and forth from side to side to the beat of the music, as she begins singing the words to the song.

Life was never suppose to be this way
You were never suppose to leave me behind
Picking up the pieces, hoping some day
I'd find that this is all a dream in my mind
I'm so hurt and mad at you for leaving me
Its not easy when you're all that I miss
You always told me to be the best I can be
But its so hard when I always hurt like this

By the time the chorus approaches, Jen voice is already breaking and tears are rolling down her face. Feeling her hurt, the audience helps sing the chorus, as she pulls herself together, joining in to sing along with them. Her voice is still a bit scratchy but she manages to get through it, singing the words emotionally, letting her frustration come out through her voice.

UserPostedImage

Don't you know my heart is not for taking
Yeah my heart is not for breaking
I don't know how to keep on surviving
Yeah my life can't be reviving
My soul is so lost without you here
Nothing in my life is no longer clear
Oh brother I need you to come back
So maybe my heart can relax

Jennifer finishes hitting the last note of the chorus and the music stops. She holds her head down to collect her thoughts and to dry her eyes. As she does, the audience begins screaming, letting her know how much they think she is awesome and so brave for pouring out her feelings for all the world to hear. Feeling a bit better, Jennifer holds her head high again, standing up to go over towards the mic stand. One of her band mates, comes over to hand her a guitar, as Jennifer leans into the mic to speak again, the crowd begins settling down.

Jennifer: Thank you all for your support. Like I said before that song never gets easier to sing. The next song I'm about to sing is from a good buddy of mine, Jacob Estrada. If you haven't heard of him then you're crazy. (She laughs) No I'm kidding but seriously, he's a really great musician. I know that he'll go far with his music because those songs of his are just out of this world. My personal favorite is his debut single, "Cause Of You." This song really speaks to me and I think its brilliant. So if you agree you should all go out and buy this song on iTunes. He deserves a heck of a lot of praise for this song if I say so. Support good music! Alright here it goes. Hopefully I won't mess this beautiful song up.

All around the auditorium, the lights dim down, the only spotlight shinning down on Jen. She begins strumming on the guitar, playing the notes to "Cause Of You." She smiles one last time out at the audience before singing the first few verses to the song. Everyone is silent, as they listen to Jennifer's beautiful voice echoing off throughout the room.

I look around everything reminds me of you
But you can't be found I only have the memories
Of us where did you go when will you be back I can't
take this anymore my mind is so off track

it's so hard to think straight when all I can think about
is you when I close my eyes I see you're face and I just don't
know what to do

I'll never know never know what went wrong
I still don't know why we're through and
I'll never know never know why we ended
But now I'm stuck missing you and I don't think
That time well heel these wounds inside oh yes
it's true it feels like a knife right through my
chest and baby it's all cause of you it's all cause of you
You it's all cause of you you it's all cause of you

I'm losing my mind wish I could turn back time to when it
was me and you I miss you so much feel so out of luck I wish I knew
what to do it hurts so bad now that you're away I just wish this all
Was untrue and if I could go back to that day and change it you know
That's what I'd do

As she continues to sing the song, she looks around out at the audience, finally noticing how many people were out in the audience. It bought joy to her face realizing that they had all came out to see her and only her. Until recently, she didn't understand how anyone could still care about her music career since she had abandoned them last year. Now that she was older however, she was able to see that people didn't care about the things you've done, just the good music you make is all that mattered to them. For once, her life seemed to be great.

The music ends and the crowd begins clapping. Jen grinned and stood there for a few moments before going to set her guitar down. Her band returned to the stage as she took another sip out of her bottled water. Once she's done, she goes back over to the mic stand, standing there to motion the crowd that she was about to speak again. Seconds later, they settle down.

Jennifer: I take it you guys loved the song. (she smiles) I had a feeling you would. Okay so unfortunately our fun is about to be over so I'm going to leave you all with my new song. It's one of my top favorite songs that I've ever written because its just so catchy and fun. Plus not to mention it's also very meaningful. Any ways enough of my rambling, it's time to rock!

Her band begins to play the music to "Another Pretty Lie" and the crowd starts going crazy, revealing that they love the song just as much as she does. Jennifer slings her head back and forth, causing her hair to get misplaced. Once the song approaches the first verse, she stops, leaning into the mic to sing the first verse and chorus.

I bet you think
That you finally got your way
I'm here to tell you baby
That's just not the case today
See I heard about your past
It seems you're famous for breaking hearts
Unfortunately for you baby
I was always one step ahead of you
Right from the start

You should get out
(of my face)
You're nothing to me
(Except a disgrace)
Pack your bags and say goodbye
Cos you're done telling another pretty lie

Jennifer grabs the mic of the stand and then makes her way across the stage, moving closer to the audience. The song picks up into the second verse and Jennifer begins singing it. Once she's done, she pulls a fan up on stage, giving her a nice big hug. She then puts the mic up to the fan's mouth, letting her sing the chorus along with her and the rest of the audience.

I have to admit
I'd hope you'd prove me wrong
But you couldn't do it baby
Cos you love stringing girls along
See I heard about your past
It seems you're known for breaking hearts
Unfortunately for you baby
I was always one step ahead of you
Right from the start

You should get out
(of my face)
You're nothing to me
(Except a disgrace)
Pack your bags and say goodbye
Cos you're done telling another pretty lie

She finishes off the last note and the song suddenly ends. The crowd stands up and Jennifer pulls her band members to her side, in which they all take a bow. A couple of people, throw a few single roses on the stage, Jennifer sees it and reaches down to grab them, smiling. Before exiting off the stage, she holds the mic up to say a few last words.

Jennifer: "Thank you so much for coming out to see me. I love you all so very much. Again thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Jen holds her hand up to blow a kiss out to the crowd, causing them to scream insanely louder. She miles, waves goodbye then makes her way off of the stage. Once she's backstage, she makes a quick change before heading out to where he fans are outside. She still felt pumped from tonight's show so decided to stick around to hang out with them, taking pictures and signing autographs. She could tell that they were eating up everyone moment of it and that made her happy. After thirty minutes passed by of signing autographs and taking pictures, Jen bodyguard from before, motioned to her that it was time to leave. She finished signing the last autograph before waving goodbye, then turning to step back onto her bus. As it pulled off, she opened the window to wave goodbye a second time, making them cheer more for her. No longer in their sight, she fell back onto her seat, smiling at how well the night had gone.
