Love Oreos!" and "You've only lost out.) However, we are going to trust our friends over at Urban Dictionary and believe that the acronym actually stands for "You only live once." Have no fear though, all you Buddhist Top 20 fans, this is not an anti-reincarnation song, no no, it is merely a fantastic call to action for the younger generation, yelling at you to get out your chair, do your thing and party on down (do people even still say that? Maybe I should have let someone a little more au fait with this type of music review this track. I'm just going to look even older than I feel.) For those of you who have never heard of Shantel Stiletto before, she is an urban act who is making her comeback into the mainstream scene for the first time for nine months, and she is looking to kick some serious butt and get us all dancing before summer is even really under way! For this comeback single, she has enlisted the help of super-producer DJ Cloud, and the pair do not disappoint, delivering a track which is sure to have dance-floors filled all summer long on the holiday islands. With DJ Cloud, arguably the brains behind much of the hits of dancefloor queen Cinzia Ricci, it is unsurprising that Shantel's music has taken a slightly different approach from the hip-hop beats she was spitting last time we heard from her. Gone is the heavy bass from the word go, replaced instead with some gentle acoustic musings. Whether or not the raps which are layered over the ambient guitar is a true fit is rather open to debate and personal opinion; but what is certain is that we are seeing the evolution of a star here, from a one dimensional rapper, into someone with some style, some grace, and some bravery to change their style. Despite its somewhat Marmite opening however, it does not take the song long to get into full swing, with a rather trademark build up from DJ Cloud, which will sound almost comfortingly similar for fans of Cinzia Ricci, leading into a track designed to keep people smiling and moving all night long. The chorus of this song is its real strong point, as it urges people to get out there and live for the weekend. Shantel screams at us to drink up, smoke something which may or may not be illegal, and generally just have a great time, a notion which will definitely not be lost on her target market of the 18-30 year-old clubbers around the world. From its slowed down chilled back acoustic rap verses (which may not be to everyone's taste), to its huge floor-filling chorus, this track is sure to get a lot of support this year. It may not have all the arty value of a Ryan Ross Hernandez or a Misery Loves Company, but it is lively, it is original, it is different. And most of all, it's just plain old great fun. I just wanted to say thank you all for making Y.O.L.O number one on the dance charts! It's craaaazy how I'd never expect to have a number 1 single, but It finally came. Other than that I've been hard at work on my album that should be released later this summer and it will have some really sick tracks that I have worked up over the past few months. Everyone is wondering when there will be a new single out and I can confirm that a new single should be out sometime next week. I actually just chose the artwork and the mixing was just finished days ago. I'm really excited about the song and I know ya'll will really love this one. I just hit the studio the other day with DJ Cloud and Giselle to lay down this track called "My Day Will Come" which is DJ Cloud's leading single off his E.P and it's an amazing track. It's crazy how fast things are moving now since I've come back, and I'm really grateful for all the people who've been by ya girls side and not hating on me.
