Lovelock runs on Inspiration, Race and Midgets, "Rap is fine now, but it isn't hitting the target."[tumblr]
Isaac Lovelock, known for his verses on
Nadia Berry's Records On, and
Anna Villiot's Someone to Hold, recently took to a small interview with a blog on a few things, including a solo release, midgets and further collaborations.
Lovelock stated that he was still aiming to throw down some solo releases, but the overwhelming response to his collaboration work led to his continued endeavours with other artists. "I went and was contact by Serenity Scott's people, and I think I'm doing a remix of her debut single, plus Stefani of G2L wanted me on her solo album, I think Dominic wants me on there too. It's crazy, it's sick, and it's completely out of left field."
"On an inspirational level, I've been listening to a lot of TCQ, Shabazz Palaces, groups that start setting bars that needed to be surpassed to get where we are today. They put the bar up there and said, 'Now do something better and we'll have a genre that can compete.'"
Lovelock also gave his feelings on race in hip-hop, "I'm a big racial guy, in that I'm not going to pull any punches in my songs when it comes to race, but I'm not going to be blasting off every track, every verse. I feel like it'll be more like debunking stereotypes, and showing folks new stuff."
He finished off the interview when asked about how he felt towards some of the newer releases, including YOLO, and Gangstar. "It's all Pop in Rap clothing really, the real wolves. Rap, as a whole, is fine now, but it isn't hitting the target. No one is breaking new ground, we're all dancing in a circle, and it's annoying."
