Campfire Tunes
The video was adjusted a bit to bring the three men into view that were sitting in beach chairs around a camp fire. A large case of beer in the middle with a pyramid of cans stacked up next to it. Johnny was sitting in the middle of course. Shirtless to show off his tattoos and wearing a cowboy hat. His acoustic guitar sat leaning on his chair as his grandad sat to his right relaxing. His guitar was also leaning against his chair with his mandolin laying across his lap. Their drummer of course who was Johnny's uncle had a pair of bongos in his lip with a cigarette lingering in his lips. He and Jack had on matching Hawaiian shirts. They all weren't wearing shoes as the fire crackled and cast a glow around their faces. You could hear the distant sound of waves gently rolling on to the shore behind them. The night was kind of starry with a bit of moonlight that added more light and a bit of mood to the entire scene. Johnny grinned at the camera and toked on a joint as he sipped his beer.Johnny: We rolled into Virginia Beach late tonight and we play tomorrow. Decided to spend a quiet evening on the beach to spend what time we did have chilling out just a little bit. Been hanging out by the beach most of the evening and having a campfire with some beer, hot dogs, and a little smoke. It's been a fine night. I got here my Grandad and Uncle to jam a little. Gonna play give some of you that haven't made it to the show yet a taste of what you'd been missing. While I'm at it I wanna give a shout out to some friends. Mr. Hess and his crew I gotta say I miss your company out here on the road. Brandon Caulfield, sir I'd like you to join me if you could on this little tour I'm on. The door's still open for the invite. Don't care if you show up later or at the end. It'd be a pleasure. The same goes for Miss Ellie-Grace Summers who I hope to catch in Tennessee. Also Lily Abbot who I hope to see sooner than later.
Jack: This beach air is doing good for my health or maybe it's just the beer. But I hope to make the most of what will to be my final tour in my eyes. Though the doctor said I shouldn't be doing this I told him to go straight to hell. I'm going out with my boots on. You can't ever keep a good man down as they say. I've had to start puffing on a fancy vaporizer because the smoke isn't good for my lungs. Seeing as I got cancer though I'm prescribed this stuff! Best thing that ever happened to me, this cancer thing. I gotta say I do miss Mr. Hess as well. Swapping road stories and jokes with him was more fun than I'd had in years. You're a class act kid. You got my stamp of approval and I'm glad you're taking your country act on the road to really bring traditional outlaw music to the masses. You can hang your hat on that any day. I hope to see you and your clan soon.
Johnny: We're gonna quit talking here for the moment and play a tune for you. Have a little fun. One, two, three, four.
Johnny grabbed his guitar along with his grandad while his Uncle Jonah began to thump out a little rousing beat on his bongo drums. After taking another toke on his joint Johnny tossed it into the fire. Then grinned at the camera.Johnny: This is a nice little ballad song about some animals. Sorta. It's gotta nice little beach campfire ballad type feel. That's filled with mystery and intrigue. Mr. Wolf and Mamabear....
He smirked and started to play as somebody approached him from behind and strapped his harmonica holder around his neck. His hands flashed a thumbs up before he disappeared off camera again. Then he peeked his head into the camera. It was Joe who most people should by know as the second axe man and co-founder of TMK. Moving into the camera he was wearing a grass skirt and a flowered boa around his neck then started dancing. This drove chuckles from the rest of the guys. Johnny: And Joe Monroe, our hula dancer. Nice skirt man.
He composed himself started to sing while Joe danced around the campfire. They played their guitars in time together while Jack kept rhythm and Johnny kept a continuous lead playing over the top of it. Then he occasionally put in some harmonica fills it was a rousing little acoustic ballad. They looked as they were having a lot of fun as they exchanged licks on occasion playing the song out into a nice little ballad until the song finished rather quietly.Mr. Wolf and Mama Bear were banging on the door
I told 'em once, I told 'em twice, don't come 'round here no more
They've stolen all our chickens, they killed our neighbor's cat
Last night I saw 'em talking to big weasel and his rat
It's such a cozy neighborhood, we love our little town
Lately things ain't been so good, there's something goin' down
It happened just a year ago; someone hired a band
They had a dog and pony show that got clean out of hand
There was fur and feathers flyin', the son of the old goat
Said Coon-boy pulled a shotgun from his worn out overcoat
Bobcat killed Miss Peacock; Coon-boy shot the Mare
While Mr. Wolf smoked opium and grinned at Mama Bear
Two dead ducks lay there beside Miss Peacock on the floor
The fat goose grabbed the telephone and called the Dogs of War
The guineas begged for mercy, the pigs began to squeal (Jack squeals like a pig at this point)
Coon-boy took the kitty, jumped in his automobile
Bobcat and the wheelman, the famous Wolverine
Shot out the light and in the night they faded from the scene
Chief Detective Rambouillet did not work for free
And Sheriff Hog was called away unexpectedly
The sheriff's re-election, the murder of the Mare
Might get Hog implicated with the Wolf and Mama Bear
So Rambouillet took up the case then shut it down for good
He bought a house in southern France but lives in Hollywood
The bodies of the bobcat and the famous Wolverine
Were found inside a motel room outside of San Joaquin
The city council voted the insurance board to pay
The victims of that heinous crime upon that dreadful day
And I watch from the shadows where beneath a frosty moon
Mr. Wolf and Mama Bear feed on a dead raccoon
You could hear the waves quietly rolling at the end. When he stopped and then looked at the camera again. While digging his toes into the sand he began to talk once more.Johnny: One we hit Myrtle Beach and then head too Florida we'll crank out another two tunes for you fine people. While we sit and jaw around the campfire or whatever. Right now there isn't too much to say but hello. I think once I get home I may turn this into a weekly little web show. Anyway we're gonna sign off for tonight and get some sleep. Hope to see you guys out there tomorrow.
