Ok, so I'm from Puerto Rico and I know what paradise is. I've seen and lived near the clear water beaches and white sand. But what might seem like paradise to you may be a nightmare to some. Have you ever got a gift for Christmas or for your birthday that you loved so much but after a couple of years you don't use it no more. Yet when your parents want to give the gift to someone else who might use it, you want to keep it, even though you don't use it. Same thing with Paradise.
I was raised in Puerto Rico, and It was normal to wake up to the sound of waves and the sound of Coqui's and the palm trees surrounding my house. Yet I hated it. I got tired of hearing waves and the horrible sweaty days. The Coqui's never got annoying though. I use to dream I lived in the snowiest place on earth. Something really personal happened which cause me to move to Florida and now that I visit back I just realize I took it for granted and I want to go back, but it is too late because I already built a life here in Orlando.
So Here's what were going to debate: Do you think people who live in Tropical Paradise are spoiled by the lands beauty? What is paradise to you?

I think that people who live in beautiful places take it for granted. But honestly, most people take things in their everyday lives for granted. My paradise is my bed under the covers while the air conditioning is on, and sleeping for as long as I want. :) |

But then again it made me realize what I took for granted.

I don't like hot weather or beaches, I've visited some of the best beaches in Brazil but I just didn't feel a special conection. I was like "Hm, beautiful, can we go now?" Cold weather pleases me more, and I dream of seeing snow someday.
Paradise to me would be me living on a house in Europe, waking up whenever I want and having someone to cook and clean. Oh, and possibly taking care of lots of animals ;) |

I love beaches, I love the water, It's like therapy. I use to dream of living in snow, and now I hate the cold, I get sick and have allergies.

tough to call because i spend my year in two of the most amaing and beuftiful area's of the world..... I spend my summers working in the Lake District (where i was born and raised) which to me is paradise. And then every winter i go to the alps and play in the snow for 5-6 months.... Which is again a spectacular place to live...
i have never ever ever understood the appeal of hot beaches... |
I hate it when people see me at the supermarket and they are like: Hey, what are you doing here? and im just like: Oh you know, hunting elephants |

I want to be on a beach in the snow. ;) I love beaches (and I love snow even more!), but I don't love sunshine. Far from it! My hatred for bright sunlight is almost as big as my love for tea! When I next hear of snow coming to Cornwall on the weather forecast, I'm on my way! ELLIOT YOU CANNOT STOP ME Do I appreciate the paradise I live in? No. Because the suburbs of Birmingham is the crappiest place I've ever been to, and I live here. (Yes, I know that there are much worse places in the world, but as far as Britain goes, this is pretty far down on the list.) Edited by user 11 July 2009 20:56:26(UTC)

xNightsidex wrote:i enjoy the many layers of clothing thing? Me too. I love dressing in my own style, with lots of layers of clothes and jewellery and accessories - what's the fun in going out in a plain old shirt and trousers when you can layer up and invent your own outfit? Also, I have to cover up even in the sun, I have diseased skin and I don't tan, I burn. I usually only have my head and hands on show. I'm better off wearing a bikini in a snowstorm than in the sun. That'd actually be a fun idea, come to think of it. :P Edited by user 12 July 2009 00:01:36(UTC)

I live in The Hague (Den haag) in The Netherlands and we have a beach also (Scheveningen). Its nice to live near a beach (15 minutes away on my bike) i must admid, but i think i visit it is not more than 10 times a year, and then only in the summer. There is always a lot of wind overhere, and maybe its nicer to go to the beach in the winter. But in the summer there is always and almost no spot left on the sand during the whole day. Germans, Germans and Germans and unemployed people reign over the sand. And by the way our water is dirty. No, this is no paradise. I think paradise is in your heart, thats the spot where it is. |
