With the North Hill Records logo on the large screen, a voice over the PA introduces the label's owners Nadia Berry and Ryan Ross Hernandez, as soon as such message is sent the 20,000 packing the Staples Center are sent in a frenzy as they welcome two of the biggest artists in the music industry onto the stage. The pair are then seen for the first time, as Nadia and Ryan make their way to the center of the stage, Nadia walking in front of Ryan. The crowd burst into a huge roar of cheers, giving the label owner's an extremely warm reception. Nadia looks up at Ryan and grins, before she looks out into the crowd and waves, "Wow, you guy are loud!" Ryan bites his bottom lip, modestly smirking and giving the crowd in front of them a small nod. He lowers himself and whispers something in Nadia's ear after she spoke, bringing the microphone up to his lips, "Los Angeles!" Ryan remarks sending the crowd into loud cheers once more. Nadia turns to Ryan once more and laughs at the whispered comment he made, then turning her attention back to the cheering crowd. "We're all here tonight to celebrate our new label North Hill Records, and what better way to do it than right here in Los Angeles?" She smiles warmly at the screams thrown back at her, before she pulls Ryan's arm a little to make him lower himself to her height, whispering something back into his ear. Ryan nods his head and laughs at her, before returning to his height and smirking at the crowd. "Nadia is correct, we are all gathered here to celebrate the founding of North Hill Records. Which both Miss Berry and I are honored to bring to you tonight." He looks down at Nadia with a smile, tugging at her hips to bring her closer to him as he kisses the top of her head. The audience cheer excitedly as he does so, a wide smile appearing on Nadia's face. She brings her microphone back up to her lips, "Aww, isn't he cute? Cutenandez is here everyone!" The crowd cheer once more at the mention of his nickname, Nadia pokes him playfully, and then smiles at a few crowd members at the very front.

"I guess you guys wanna hear some music ASAP, and we've got some truly great acts on our roster at North Hill, and a number of them are here tonight and ready to perform for you all, but we won't ruin the surprise on who is and who isn't," she says, winking at Ryan. Ryan laughs and shakes his head at her mention of the "Cutenandez" nickname she coined for him months ago. He whispers something in her ear again after she pokes him, smiling down at her. Ryan claps at her mention of the great acts at hand tonight. He brings the microphone to his lips, giving the crowd a playful frown, "But someone who will not be performing here tonight is the little lady here by my side because she is technically not signed to North Hill Records." He looks down at Nadia and shakes his head, "You should all be very disappointed in her. Since I know L.A. loves it's basketball, it's if North Hill Records is the Lakers and the label Nadia is on, is the Bobcats." Ryan shrugs his shoulders and laughs as does the majority of the crowd. "Don't worry, Nads didn't get that reference." Nadia makes a playful face similar to Ryan's and then laughs afterwards, "Sorry guys, I know, I know, maybe next time." She slightly tilts her head to one side at Ryan's basketball comment, in complete confusion as to what he's talking about, simply giving him a sweet smile, "Ryan's right, I don't have the slightest clue." The crowd laugh along with her, and she clears her throat, "My wonderful boyfriend next to me will also sadly not be performing tonight due to his vocal condition, but we do have a very amazing opener that he's very close to, I'll let Ryan do the honours." Ryan smiles, correctly predicting that she did not catch on to his joke, mouthing a silent "sorry" her way. He lowers his head and nods as she comments that he will not be able to peform this evening either. Ryan looks out at the crowd and lets out a small sigh, "Maybe next time I'll be on this stage performing." His expression turns into a happy one once more, smiling at Nadia and the fans, “Yes, right now I am honored to introduce a band that I signed to the label and they are an amazing up-and-coming indie pop band. Ladies and gentlemen, opening the North Hill Records Showcase, please give a warm welcome to our name is stars period!” The crowd cheer excitedly in response, as Nadia and Ryan clap enthusiastically. The lights dim a little, and the pair begin to make their way off for our name is stars., Ryan giving Nadia's bottom a playful spank as they leave the stage.

our name is stars. LIVE AT THE NORTH HILL SHOWCASE

About a minute after Nadia Berry and Ryan Ross Hernandez go off stage, the lights go out and the arena becomes silent, aside from the random screams and cheers of the concert goers. A few faint red lights shine towards the back of the stage, illuminating a message that is seen on the big screen and the surrounding screens around the arena which grab the audience attention.

north hill records proudly present our name is stars.

A video begins to play after it, showing the band getting ready for their performance backstage. The band’s manager is seen putting Nathan Castle’s bowtie on, he jokes with the rest of his band, “I don’t know how to put on a fucking bowtie, man. I’m not that fancy.” When they are all dressed up in their black and white suits, along with their sole female member in a plain white dress, all huddle up as Nate tells them, “This is our first show as a signed band, it’s the North Hill showcase and we are opening it, but no pressure.” He chuckles. “Let’s just have fun out there. No one knows our name, no one knows who we are. Let’s play the same way we played back when we were in shitty bar bands, except you know, not shitty.” They all share a warm laugh before they are shown making their exit from the dressing room and seen heading towards the stage. The scene fades out and the audience returns their focus to center stage when a single limelight shines on the empty space.

Moments later, Nathan Castle, the band’s frontman and lead singer, nonchalantly walks onto the stage with his hands in his pockets. The crowd reaction is spilt, while some audience member’s cheer, others decide to remain quiet since they aren’t familiar with this band. He steps in front of the microphone stand and looks out at the crowd. Nathan adjusts the microphone stand to his height, sighing into the mic as he does. Just seconds later, he begins to sing acapella.

Can we please take a minute
To talk about me
And my hatred for most postmodern things

“You guys don’t mind, right?” Nathan says with a smile looking at the massive crowd in front of him who most cheer. “Well I’m going to name a few postmodern things I hate and I need you guys to cheer if you hate them too. I know hate is a strong word but I really fucking hate these things I’m about to tell you.”

Like trust funds and fake breasts

Castle sings in acapella and gets a good amount of the audience cheering. “I got a few dirty looks from some ladies. I think they are either trust fund babies or have fake breasts. Which I’m not trying to offend you if you have either of those, I just hate those things, not you as a person.” Nate backs away from the mic and laughs before continuing on.

Like drug dealers and Starbucks

Once again the audience cheers. “If you have a marijuana card, I know those are common in California. But if you have a marijuana card I’m not talking about you guys, smoke away I say.”

Reality shows and gossip sites

Out of the three sets he has asked the crowd for their opinion in, this is the loudest reaction yet. “Alright, that’s good. I thought there was sure to be more Jersey Shore fans here, some more Teen Mom fans here, maybe some TMZ readers. I guess I was wrong.” Nate mentions in a chuckle, finally putting the earpieces in his ears. A faint, rhythmic drum beat and jumpy keys begin once he starts to sing again.

I know I can't complain I only have myself to blame
But celebrities on Twitter
Are pissing me off
With their irrelevant 140 characters
Oh no

“Celebrities on Twitter, we all know who you are,” he exclaims as the light raise and the rest of the band is seen playing their respective instruments. Nathan’s bandmates, Alex Manning Jr. and Jason Andrews are each at either side of the leading man, Jason playing his his cherry red Gibson ES-335 guitar, while Alex is sitting in front of a keyboard but playing a trumpet. While their backing band, Haley Davis is standing in front of the keys, playing the bouncy notes that the crowd is hearing, while John Ryland is on the drums and Chris Humphrey on bass.

If the tea parties correct
I should buy my kids a gun
And teach them the good values of the lord
“Son, you shouldn't have sex until you're married,
But it better be to a nice, southern Christian girl
Who reads the Bible nightly
And only does missionary”

Well I don't believe in miracles
I just believe in what my eyes can see
You should never judge a color of a skin
Don't you ever judge someone by their kin
Never believe in leaders that promise hope and change

“Yes, you all know who I’m speaking of,” he exclaims once more, obviously referring to President Barack Obama. For the following verse the tempo slows down as Nathan sings over a piano melody.

These lessons do not matter
Because I wrote you a note
It read:
“Your love
It just doesn't shine enough
I'm looking for sunlight not just twilight
That's why all the flowers you plant have died
I haven't found my own sunlight
But at least I can wear sunglasses now”

He proves his vocal range is massive as he starts off singing the verse softly, raises and holds it powerfully towards the middle end, then returns to soft tone before shifting to a full-on falsetto tone. The audience can obvious appreciate this, as they cheer whenever he holds a note.

The instruments pick up once more for the raise of the song, but for the final stanza, Nathan is left alone with his vocals to go acapella, as he looks directly at a few of the girls in the front row, singing:

“This is a message; to all the girls I’ve yet to sleep with.”

He smiles, before taking the microphone off its stand and in his hand. The audience starts to cheer, having a newfound respect for the band, most of which is the first they’ve heard of them. “Thank you. our name is stars. This next song is called Grandstanding and Bravado.”

Nathan toward Alex who gives him a thumbs up to state that he’s ready to start the next song. Now Manning, playing keys. He uses an effect on the keyboard to resemble an organ that serves as melody for Nathan to begin the next song.

I'm selling hooks you can't deny
Their perfect for radio stations to play all day
I kinda hope they do, I need the cash
So I'll surgically remove my heart
And replace it with an ATM machine
Who am I kidding? I'll take credit too

Not a second passes after the first verse is done, when the rest of the bands jump on it to create a powerful stadium rock anthem sound, similar to something you’d hear on a Coldplay record.

I threw stones at your window again
Thinking I'd get some blood pumping
While a GirlSpice record served as background music
I didn't spend a nickel on this record
But I want my nickel back

Chase me down the street of a suburban neighborhood
Critics say I need to put more soul in it
Hey TMZ, won't you climb a tree for me?
Hey Pitchfork, sorry we're not hipster indie superstars

I'm half a drag of a single cigarette
The chemicals I carry go straight to your lungs
What a match, you are an addict and I'm a drug dealer

The tempo of the song raises to its peak at the chorus, with Nathan bouncing around the stage, belting out the the notes.

So play this song all day
Top 40 Radio DJ's, please shove it down people's throats
Your listeners don't want variety or honesty, they want the same old shit
All those perfect songs, with those handsome boys and beautiful girls
Let's just keep singing and dancing all night
As if all in life is parties and boys

Returning to the verses, the tempo remains much intact, but instead the rest of the band provide background vocals for the frontman.

Cute girl, you look like you belong somewhere in Los Angeles
Or are you trying to be a model and you already swallow on your knees in New York, hey
Painted faces in the bathroom stalls of the club
They all look the same when you're drunk in the nightlife lights
I drank until I passed out when I was eighteen
Just so now I could hold my liquor 'round the A-list team

The song slow downs for the pre-hook with a melodic drum beat and a swirling acoustic guitar, Nathan's voice leading the way once more. Before it returns to a sea of sound for the chorus.

I'm half a drag of a single cigarette
The chemicals I carry go straight to your lungs
What a match, you are an addict and I'm a drug dealer

So play this song all day
Top 40 Radio DJ's, please shove it down people's throats
Your listeners don't want variety or honesty, they want the same old shit
All those perfect songs, with those handsome boys and beautiful girls
Let's just keep singing and dancing all night
As if all in life is parties and boys

The drums create a wall of sound in the form of a march-like beat for the bridge as the rest of the band, aside from Ryland and Nathan sing loudly into their respective microphones.

You carry no substance nor write your own songs
But you have a pretty face to sell it
So we'll package you to be perfect for the mainstream crowd
You carry no substance nor can you sing
But you have a pretty face to sell it
So we'll package you to be perfect for the mainstream crowd

While the band add the gang vocals, Nathan steps back in to sing in harmony with them.

Don't request your favorite song
We already know what song you want to hear
So we play it six times every hour

So play this song all day
Top 40 Radio DJ's, please shove it down people's throats
Your listeners don't want variety or honesty, they want the same old shit
All those perfect songs, with those handsome boys and beautiful girls
Let's just keep singing and dancing all night
As if all in life is parties and boys

The lights go out, just in sync when they stop playing, the crowd roaring for them again. A single limelight shines on Nathan as he smiles at the crowd.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to take a moment to introduce to you guys who we are. My name is Nathan and I obviously sing in the band, but I’m the least important member on this stage right now.” Nate lowers himself and grabs a small towel he uses to whip off some of the sweat off his forehead. “On drums, we have John Ryland. He has the best beard out of everyone on this stage right now, so give it up for him.” Another limelight comes on and shines on the drummer who gives the crowd a modest nod. “Next, we have playing the bass, is our youngest member, Chris Humphrey.” The same happens with a spotlight coming on him, who waves at the audience. “I don’t know why she’s so in the back because she’s by far the most attractive person on this stage right now. That’s Haley, she plays guitar, she plays keyboard, she sings. She does it all so show her some love.” As the spotlight shines on her, she is seen giggling before raising a hand and smiling toward Nathan. “We’re almost done here. Right here to my right we have the man who keeps this band together, he plays so many instruments that I’m not even going to try to list them. Give it up for Alex Manning the Second.” Sitting behind the keyboards, Alex salutes the crowd. “Then last but not least, we have on guitar, the talented Jason Andrews.” Jason is seen adjusting his guitar strap as he shows a small trace of a smile.

“our name is stars and we have two more songs for you all. This is our second single, it should be out within the next month or so, unless our first single picks up. It is titled, ‘A Night in New York City.’”

With the being said, a constant drum machine begins to echo through the arena, guitarist Jason Andrews crouched down hitting the drum pad with a drumstick all through the first verse, that gives way to Nathan's insistent, wordy vocals.

Let me breath a different air
I need a moment to see who I wear today
As your girlfriends are in the bathroom
Blowing the sunshine into their veins
I see you arrive in your favorite dress
Just across the crowd
But my side of the booth is no longer there
It's been taken by some hipster with a swooping haircut
Asking my girl who's she with
And I know she'll proudly state she's with me
I know it's hard to forget what happened months ago
But as we drink and talk in small
That night creeps into your mind
You know that I'm trying to erase it now
So if you want to drink for two
Then you feel like walking back
I'll be your shoulder to cry on

The first verse introduces a bright piano melody which picks up during the chorus, with with big, booming drums coming into focus to create a slow anthemic hip hop groove. As any good ringleader, Nathan sings every word with passion and importance.

For once in our lifetime
We are the wild things
Young and rebellious
So give us the night to ignite some fireworks
And we'll shoot further than the stars

For once in our lifetime
We are the wild things
Young and rebellious
So give us the night to ignite some fireworks
And we'll shoot further than the stars

Continuing in the same groove, toning down the power of the chorus just slightly, they quickly move along to the second verse. Most of the crowd are on their feet now to join in this foot-stomping anthem.

Well no I am not
The kind of man you want
Another case of thinking that I
I just might be all that you want tonight
But your friends have found their high
And you signal them over to our table
So let's drink tonight
'Cause you know I will put you to bed when you pass out

For once in our lifetime
We are the wild things
Young and rebellious
So give us the night to ignite some fireworks
And we'll shoot further than the stars

For once in our lifetime
We are the wild things
Young and rebellious
So give us the night to ignite some fireworks
And we'll shoot further than the stars

The soaring power ballad takes a slight breather at the bridge when the rest of the band joins in for a string of 'na na na na na's.' Nathan walks over to where Haley is located on stage, playing keys, as they trade off lines, while the rest of the band continue with the gang vocal harmonies.

Why do we always play this game?
You can't look at my face
Well if you wanna hurt me babe,
You just did again

The crowd is with me
(You can't look at my face)
Give me a chance to fight
(You've hurt me babe)
'Cause I can't compete with all your friends
The sins have subside
(You wanna play this game)
But I still hear the devil
So can someone be my shoulder tonight (tonight)

Tonight
For once in our lifetime
We are the wild things
Young and rebellious
So give us the night to ignite some fireworks
And we'll shoot further than the stars

At the last chorus, the music becomes booming, to set up for the soft finish with just Nate singing over some simple piano notes.

Tonight
For once in our lifetime
We are the wild things
Young and rebellious
So give us the night to ignite some fireworks
And we'll shoot further than the stars

So if you want to drink for two
Then you feel like walking back
I'll be your shoulder to cry on
Tonight

Nathan returns to center stage and stands on a guitar amp. “This is our last song for the night, I hope you like it. And I hope you all enjoy the rest of your evening.” He jumps off the amp and turns to face the band, he starts off the song singing into the microphone, now with a vocoder effect added to it.

I busted my head against the bedpost and got blood on my shirt
Went down to the palace and cashed in all the chips I carried
I was a millionaire in six hours and I blew it in three
What a catch, I still can't catch a break

I can't even fall asleep, the nightmares make me fear shutting my eyes
The last time I got a good night sleep
I dreamed that we all had a value lingering above our heads
I shouted when my value was in the negatives
Singing,

Oh woah, oh woah, oh woah oh oh
Oh woah, oh woah, oh woah oh oh

Nathan Castle's voice flows seamlessly along the African drum patterns as he growls his line with intensity.

Get ready soldiers, we have been pinned as sellouts by everyone in our hometowns
I guess it was wrong of us to chase our dreams
They say I was happier back when I had nothing - save the bullshit for those who care
Three years ago I could not afford keeping a girl happy, now I have three

I'm not as sad as you may think I am, I now share a bed with an angel who wears Victoria
Who actually cares for how my day went and likes the music my band plays
No need to ask me why I changed, life in Arizona just became a bore

Well, some say I got lucky on a gamble I made
That I traded friends for acquaintances
Sometimes, I appear distant but don't mind me
Those times I just want to be left alone

But I still fear sleep, social media freaks me out
Here are your 140 characters to hate on us
People always find a reason to complain
Even when nothing is wrong, I said nothing is wrong

I'm a sellout for following my dreams
I get less calls from my sister since I moved to New York City
I traded the heat for snowy winter nights

The infectiousness "oh woah's" that play in the background like gospel vocals over the pounding drumbeat, make this custom ready for stadium sing-alongs. Already having most of the 20,000 gathered in the Staples Center to join them.

Is our name stars because we want to be stars?
We want to shoot in the air, but the shine isn't necessary
Oh woah, oh woah, oh woah oh oh
Oh woah, oh woah, oh woah oh oh

Well, not even three minutes in and we lost our ways
Eight years, four bands, I'm not sure if I want live off nickels and dimes again
This is not for the indie crowd, much less to those in the Jersey Shore
Who wants to trade in their coats for another fucking StarFactory act?

I finally slept for the first time since I moved to the city
I had a dream about meeting a woman with light hair and blue eyes
When I looked into her eyes I felt like a shooting star that did shine
It was a beautiful dream, and every night since then I've slept peacefully
Call me a sellout now

Towards the end of the song, this hip-hop influenced tune is softly broken down with some snazzy autotune added to Nathan's voice, in a similar shameless, instrument-like style that the likes of Justin Vernon's Bon Iver use it as.

Oh woah, oh woah, oh woah, oh oh
Oh woah, oh woah, oh woah, oh oh

You walked all over me for the very last time, now my smile is genuine and I can afford my own place
I threw my old phone off the thirteenth floor
Yeah, I got new friends now
Who don't criticize my way of living
Maybe my sister shouldn't bother calling
I'll see you and the family come Christmas time

As the song reaches its closing, the light begin to dim on them as the music starts to fade away, until the music ends completely and the stage is dark. At such time, our name is stars. quickly make their way of the stage.

Once the lights dim, Hey Lolita's logo slowly fades onto the huge screen above the stage. Jared walks onto the stage by himself to a warm reception as a soft spotlight follows him, seen casually dressed in jeans and a plain white shirt, left slightly unbuttoned at the top. He sits down at a piano, before adjusting his microphone slightly. Arianna soon walks onto the stage slowly, giving a smile and a wave to the crowd who applaud her, a few wolf whistles heard once the crowd see their first sight of her. Arianna grabs the microphone from its stand and walks over to Jared at the piano, wearing a purple crop top and denim hotpants, "Hey, when'd you get here?" She giggles, then turns around to see the crowd, Jared smiles and presses his lips to his microphone, "Can't blame a guy for being eager. Look how fucking huge this crowd is, damn." Arianna nods her head, "There's a lot of you here," she says softly, "Let's get going, this is the first song on the album, "Pretty Lights", we hope you like it."

A complex thirty second piano intro is heard from Jared as he skilfully sets into the song straight after Arianna introduces it, tongue out at the side of his mouth while playing. Arianna counts herself in by nodding along slowly, before a thick drum beat full of hand claps and horns are introduced into the song. Arianna sways her hips to the beat, eyes closed as her unique vocals flow over the song, passing the first verse and going straight into the infectious chorus.

"The land of plenty, can you spare a twenty?
This obsession could be sorta deadly
We all dream of being rich and famous
That's why I got a car down to Vegas
Now guide me to the pretty, pretty lights...

Pretty lights, Vegas nights
Sipping on cocktails till sunrise
Blow cash that we haven't got
And we'll fake happiness for a little while
Pretty lights, Vegas nights
Let's go see a show, nowhere else to go
We'll search casino floors for spare quarters
And we'll fake happiness for a little while"

Arianna sings the verse after the first chorus, walking away from the piano that she's been stood next to since she arrived onto the stage, making her way to the front of stage as she places the microphone back in its stand.

"Saved up enough for a game of Blackjack
Yeah, all I've got are these clothes on my back
Kissed the dealer on the cheek and asked for some luck
He shook his head and told me if only it was that easy
Nothing in this world is free, but if only he knew
This is my only shot at being happy"

Jared raises his head while singing the following verse solely, the upbeat drum beat drops out, and only the piano in the song is heard. He closes his eyes whilst playing, showing this really does come second nature to him.

"Out of gas, looks like I'm gonna be stuck here for a while
Sleeping on the pavement and counting the stars
If there's no place to call home, you're never really lost
Instead, you'll always be searching for somewhere to call your own
Now I wonder when the sky's gonna rain down some good fortune
Cause I sure as hell need it"

The drum beat soon returns following on from his verse, and Jared joins Arianna in the chorus for the first time in the song. Arianna raises her hands above her head and claps them together in time with the beat to get the crowd to follow, they soon join in, and she smiles in response. The middle eight then features a simple hand-clap breakdown as both Arianna and Jared spur the crowd on, getting as many people to join in with them as possible while Jared sings the lyrics.

"The price of fame, come and name your game
Walking down these streets is like the walk of shame
Everyone's got a healthy wallet, I've got nothing but dreams
And to achieve them, I'd go to such extremes
Call me desperate, call me shallow
But until then, I'll always be living in the shadows

Now sing it, pretty lights, pretty lights
And Vegas nights, Vegas nights
Woah, oh, oh, oh, oh, yeah
Pretty lights, pretty lights
And Vegas nights, Vegas nights"

The pair sing the final chorus together as the drum beat returns for the last time. Arianna turns around and smiles at Jared once the song reaches its end, the crowd cheering them. She walks over to the piano again and places two hands down on it, she lifts herself up and turns her body slightly so that she sits on the edge of it. "Los Angeles, you're looking very beautiful tonight," she says in a soft voice, before seductively lying back onto the piano. "Tired?" Jared questions, chuckling lightly after his comment, "No, no, not at all," she responds. She sits up once again, still on the edge of the piano, as she looks out into a sold out Staples Center, "Can I just take the time to thank Ryan and Nadia? They gave us a second chance that I never thought would happen, so we owe a lot to them, me more than anything." The crowd cheer following her comment, and she nods her head and smiles. "If you guys don't know who we are, we're Hey Lolita, and we're working on our debut album that'll be out as soon as we can get it out. Here's another song taken from it, 'Cadillac Jack', it's a stripped down piano version of it, enjoy," Jared says. The crowd cheer, followed by a brief pause, waiting for Arianna to count him in.

Jared keeps the piano notes gentle and laidback, suiting the mood of the song. Arianna soon follows, lifting her microphone to those famous lips of hers.

"Red dress, red nail polish, red lips
Tells me that I'm his fantasy that's just come true
Runs his fingers slowly over my hips
Asked me what I wanted to do and I gave him a clue
Led him into the back of his car by his tie
On top of him, I leaned over and said to him
'I don't do this often, I'm a little shy'
He shook his head with a grin, lips that taste of gin
Baby, let the fun begin

And if you think we're gonna go slow
You've got another thing coming
Come on, let's put on a show
And we'll regret nothing"

Arianna's seductive vocals in the song flow easily over the backing of the slow, light piano notes that stay at the same pace for the chorus. She lies back against the top of the piano once again while singing, some more wolf whistles are heard from the crowd as she does so. Jared nods his head along as he plays, leaning slightly closer to the piano each time his fingers press down on the keys.

"Now we're steaming up all the windows
Kissing on each other when no one's watching
Skin as white as snow, lips as red as a rose
Tells me I'm beautiful, and this car's never stopping
Said he wanted me from the minute I walked into the room
Now he's on me like a new perfume
Cadillac Jack, riding around the block
Making love in the backseat of your car
Cadillac Jack, don't ever stop
Tell me I'm the brightest star"

Arianna stays on her back on top of the piano, Jared plays a short piano solo right after the chorus, before she moves back in for the second verse.

"Let's keep on going till the wheels fall off
Smokin' his cigar and rockin' out to heavy metal
Asks nicely for me to take off my clothes
And then he slams his foot down on the pedal
Let's ride around town just once more
Cadillac Jack, he knows how to please
As I reach my hand out and lock the doors
He whispers in my ear a bunch of guarantees
Things that I could never repeat
He said I'm too darn sweet"

Arianna gently makes her way off of the piano, she playfully pats Jared on the head, before she moves to the center of the stage again, a warm spotlight following her as she moves. She sings the pre-chorus and chorus, then kneels down, sitting on the edge of the stage now while waving directly to a few fans who hold their hands out to her at the very front of the crowd. She soon gets back on her feet and places her microphone in its stand, she closes her eyes, slowly swaying her body to the piano, before she opens them and sings the middle-eight in a relaxed, sultry voice.

"Now we're riding faster in his car
Don't know where we're going, but it's somewhere far
And I'm lost in the moment with Cadillac Jack
But it doesn't matter, there's nothing he lacks, he's a true maniac
And he's giving me everything I need
Cadillac Jack, don't slow down the speed
Let's go on and on and on and on and on..."

Arianna soon goes back into the final chorus, and then gives a bow to the audience once it reaches its end, blowing a kiss out to the crowd. "I love you all so much, you're an amazing crowd," she says, with a hand placed on her chest. Jared gives a thumbs up to the audience, and then looks over to Arianna, "Ari, what are we finishing up with?" She takes a moment to think, "Well seeing as we're in Los Angeles, I think 'Marilyn' is quite fitting." The crowd cheer excitedly, as this becomes the only song the crowd know from their set, taken from their debut Hollywood EP, which sold over 1.6 million.

Jared swiftly moves away from the piano and grabs an acoustic guitar that's sat nearby, he slips the guitar strap over his head, then makes his way to the front of the stage where Arianna is stood. He adjusts the microphone in the stand next to Arianna's, nods three times, then launches into the final song in their set. Arianna takes her microphone and shifts its stand to one side, taking a seat once again on the edge of the stage.

"Wind blowing up her skirt
She bites her lip and looks the other way
Looks so good it hurts
And all the men wanna play
Cherry red lips, white dress
And a set of legs that go on for days

She's a sex icon, they wanna see what's underneath
Pearl necklace, pretty as a picture
Every man in town wants her to himself, take her out and show her off
If looks could kill, she'd be a beautiful killer
She puts on a show, then off she goes
She'll make you stop in your tracks
You think she looks so good, and damn, she knows"

As Jared solely sings the chorus, Arianna takes a small jump from the stage to the ground floor as a bunch of security surround her. She quickly walks along the length of the barriers and touches hands with the fans.

"Marilyn, Marilyn, Marilyn
Let me take you on a date
Give you a good time you won't regret
If I had a girl like that on my arm
I'd treat her like a queen, put her to no harm
Marilyn, give me one single chance
And I promise this won't be your last dance"

The security soon help Arianna back onto the stage, and she takes her place back next to Jared, singing the following verses. The guitar chords remain simplistic, but Jared plays them with such an ease, it's evident that he's capable of much more.

"Hair blowing in the wind
She's the best looking girl in the room
Behind that smile, you'd be surprised with what you find
She's every man's object of desire
Makes the boys weak, drop on their knees
Call her stunnin' and she'll call you a liar
She's classy, she's modest, that's what makes you want her more

She gets serenaded with cliché love songs
She'll giggle at you sweetly
Doesn't know where her heart belongs
She's lonely behind the smile
Sipping on her Dom Perignon
Waiting for her saviour
Lost in all the danger, danger, danger"

Jared then repeats the final chorus twice, his deep, husky voice being put to good use in the song, showing that Arianna is clearly not the only one with vocal talents in Hey Lolita. Once the song comes to an end, the audience burst into cheers for them, Jared and Arianna look at each other and smile, glad that they've gotten through a gig in front of such a huge crowd. Jared comes close to the microphone once again, "You guys rule, we were fucking nervous at first, this is the biggest crowd we've played in front of." Arianna smiles, "Enjoy the rest of the night everyone, we love you."

The crowd is anticipating the next act. James Urie's banner is seen on the PA system and the fans start popping in cheer as Urie's debut and #1 single, 'Dig Me A Hole' is heard and the crowd goes into a pop of more cheering with many of his fans throwing there arms in the air. After a few seconds from his backing band doing their work on the electric guitar and then out comes Urie! This causes the crowd cheer even more loudly as he walks over to the mic, standing there with a smile on his face.

UserPostedImage

The song that gets across the bad reputation of the world, and growing economic crisis, sickness and terrorism, James Urie singing loudly walking around the stage getting across the message of digging a hole of shelter, to be woken up when the suffering of the world and the people come to an end. When the chorus comes up, he highly belts out the words 'I'll Dig Myself A Hole' with the progressive chorus supporting him, bringing on his perfect vocals behind the thumbing baseline and electric guitar chords.

UserPostedImage

The guitar becomes fully apart of the song for the a beautiful bridge, where James holds a long note belting the word 'Hole' as he walks around the stage and then finding his place at the mic stand, finishing off the song until the end. He stands up as the song ends and smiles, the crowd is cheering for the end of the first song Urie performs. Seconds later...

The lights dim and the camera's focuses on James Urie as the opening beats of Broken are heard. He stands there as the intro of the song starts to play James starts singing as the backing pounds onto the track and the lights around the arena become extremely dark. James begins singing with his laid back voice sounding almost as if he's empty or maybe even possessed with the sad lyrics of the song. The crowd even star singing along with Urie for Lily's part of the song. Making it an obvious stand out of Urie's performance. Urie keeps the mic closes to his face as he sings with his eyes closed, completely keeping with the emotion of the hit single. When the the song breaks into the signature break, mixed with a drumming loop continuing and piano notes as Lily's vocals and James sings for the chorus. Where he belts out I can be brokenAnd still fall apart|This deadly work of artIt's tearin' me apart|And who's the helping hand|Searching for the pieces|I can be broken| And still fall apart conveying the pits of depression and being broken sitting down in this very interactive performance of Broken.

I find the place where none of it exists
Just me and ready fists
Where the glass is always broke
And decisions make me choke

So I'm falling away
So I'm falling away?
But I thought I hit the bottom
Yeah I thought I hit the bottom

I can be broken
And still fall apart
This deadly work of art
It's tearin' me apart
And who's the helping hand
Searching for the pieces
I can be broken
And still fall apart

Continuing through the chorus, Urie sits in front of the stage singing about being skeptical and vulnerable at the same time with the depressing. James goes up the crowd as he sings this slow song, walking around and touching the hands of his fans for a few seconds. He even smiles when his fans are screaming at the top of their lungs for Urie, as she walks around for the next verse and chorus that soon finds it way to the performance. Urie stays serious however, eyes still closes or low, almost looking as if he's on the break of tears, easily channeling his old depressing days where he had no where to turn.

UserPostedImage

I pleaded with god to make me new
But it seems hes done all he can do
How can I seem to rebuild
On this foundation sand filled

UserPostedImage

And so I climb!
Now I climb
I'm a dead man
or am I fine?

I can be broken
And still fall apart
This deadly work of art
It's tearin' me apart
And who's the helping hand
Searching for the pieces
I can be broken
And still fall apart

The bridge that cuts down to an eerie breakdown as James sings hard, hunger in his vocals as the stage starts spraying with smoke, as this breakdown is heard. Massively eerie and maybe in scary to some people as Urie belts out different spiritual lyrics about god possibly helping him find a way. He stands their with the mic in his hand and when the bridge finishes, he sings throughout the end of the song continuing from the bridge and onto the final chorus where he stands out and sings loudly.

Sell me
Crush me
Tell me!
God has
A plan
Make me!
Climb the ladder
Find the key
Dont hide inside
Dont walk underneath

I can be broken
And still fall apart
This deadly work of art
It's tearin' me apart
And who's the helping hand
Searching for the pieces
I can be broken
And still fall apart

UserPostedImage

I know I'm broken
But why do I always fall apart?
This deadly work of art
It always tears me apart
And the helping hand
Can find all the pieces
Then I wont be broken
But I'll still fall apart
I'll still fall apart

When Urie finishes, the song comes to a haunting end. The crowd begins cheering loudly. He smiles saying "thank you". But the performance is not over. As the lights shut off just a few seconds later, the opening chords of 'Anarchy is heard. Urie pics the mic back up as the song starts off with off with a slow, electronic rock like beat. Urie stands there with a blank expression as the keyboard notes and guitars build up and seconds into the song, guitar riffs blast out into the arena. More seconds past with relentless riffs, with seconds later Urie beginning to sing.

UserPostedImage

Another one of Urie's songs when he was in his depressive state as sings throughout the chorus during the first verse standing in front of the crowd with the mic on the stand. He looks deeply intro the crowd as he sings throughout the eerie track.

Look at me,
I cant be thinking of Anarchy Like This
I cant be thinking Of Anarchy Like This,
I'm scaring myself thinking about Anarchy Like This

UserPostedImage

The haunting beat that is now aided with drums during the chorus and the bridge. The chorus is cheering as James sings this hit single of his in front of the stage. Plenty of fans are throwing their arms in the air as as he sings about his empty soul that cannot be filled with happiness and the joys of life.

UserPostedImage

Look at me
What have I become
My empty soul cannot be filled with the lies of joy and happiness
Something that lasts only a short time
I rather take the other route
I rather take the other route

Followed by the unleashing chorus that speeds up. James nods his head hard, back and forth along with the pounding of the track . When the bridge emerges, all the instruments seem to stop and a scary effect is added to Urie's voice, which has him sounding quite distorted with just light keyboard keys as he continues singing slowly with this possessive effect. Urie takes the mic off the stand and then takes a seat on the steps of the stage as he stares blankly into the audience.

UserPostedImage

The bridge does however bring up the last chorus which is stronger then the one before and he sings harder then before as Urie stands up and comes to the front of the stage as this strong chorus comes to an end as Urie does his surprising punk rock scream much like in the opening track of the album as the song comes to a halting finish. When the performance finishes, the crowd starts screaming loudly. Urie smiles once more and waits a few seconds before laughing because of the positive and very supportive crowd at the North Hill Event. After a few more seconds Urie picks the mic back up to his face.

"So how's everyone doing tonight!? Are we having fun? The hot crowd screams once more and Urie waits another few minutes before speaking again. "Well this is the final song of my set and I want you guys to feel very special because you in the crowd here tonight will be the first people to hear my brand new single 'Farewell'!! It's one of my favorite tracks that I've ever written and recorded and it's from my new album, you guys ready?

UserPostedImage

The song unleashes with automatic drums and cymbals slamming against the track, mixed with electric guitars for a few seconds. James walks around the stage nodding his head and walks over the drum set, taking one of the drum sticks from his drummer and slamming it a few times with the beat of the track. As the intro beat of the track continues and the verse is about to come up, Urie walks to the front of the stage getting ready to sing the first verse.

I awoke with the light
The lights in my eyes, I wake up
Like any normal day
I walk to a mirror
To stare at my clear reflection
I'm inferior
It's a dream that's growing old

His voice strong and empowering, as his says the opening verse of the song quite quick paced with the repetitive drum, and guitar combo. He looks straight into the crowd with the as the repetitive beat continues getting across the fact that he has had dreams about him having a clear reflection when he looked into the mirror, in this nightmare. He holds the mic in his hand as he moves from center stage, making rounds throughout the stage as he fans take pictures of him and he smiles here and there. The beat then however begins to pick up when he gets to the hook of this track. Urie stays very energetic as the hook begins to build up.

Farewell to the old guy!
Depression won't plague me anymore
Goodbye to those past times!
Opportunities came knocking at my door

He he screams farewell to the old guy and he waves to the crowd, and yelling out the the rest of the track, saying goodbye to the old, weak him. The beat gets stronger with these drums and electric guitars slamming harder in that repetitive motion. But for those few seconds the track builds up for an even stronger release and the drums and electric guitars unleash for his next lines in this track |You stood around and watched my head drown!| is the que for the electric guitar to go into a frenzy along with the drums making a beautiful mixture of instruments mixed with the mixed beat. James Urie stands center stage as he edges over and then picks his head up, belting out the next lines in this empowering track.

UserPostedImage

You stood around and watched my head drown!
You saw me at my lowest, at my core
So stand around and watch my head rise
Farewell to my weakness and those lies

Things slow down and return back to it's repetitive beginning beats with the electric guitar and drums. Urie walks around the stage, grabbing his fans hands as they throw their arms in the air with the beat of the track. Urie sings the next few very deep lines with much meaning. Urie is letting go of the old him, he's found a new mindset and it shows in the performance as he jumps up and down slamming his head back and forth

Watch me as I soar above the skies
As I ignore the desperate fear that flows through my thighs
They say there's no place like home
I say there's no place when insanity starts ripping through your soul

I thought if I stood by your side
You would guarantee my safety
And reassure that I'd be alright
But the nightmare I was running from
The nightmare of being alone
Became a reality, faster then dawns sunlight

The beat begins to pick up again and James walks over to his guitarist as he starts moving back and forth belting out the next lines of the song. The beat begins to pick up again and he says farewell to the old guy, the old him, and says goodbye to the old times as new opportunities have come to him. His guitarist nods his head back and forth as he handles his business on the guitar and Urie energetically moves around the stage. As he continues throughout the song. Yelling out the very important line of the song |You stood around and watched my head drown|Bringing his voice to a very high and powerful manner. Speaking to all the people who watched him at the lowest of his core. At that point, Urie is at the front of the stage, throwing his arms up for the fans as he intimately brings the track to new highs.

The track slows down, much more for the bridge of the track. Mixed with light bass strings and occasional electric guitar riffs and a nice relaxing backing beat. As Urie says Farewell for the final time. The audience begin clapping when the music slows down as Urie continues singing the bridge as it the song starts building up once more.

So keep on waving
Keep keep on waving
I've finally found myself
Farewell, go to hell

I'll keep on waving
Keep keep on waving
I've finally found myself
Farewell, I am WELL!
(2x)

As he says "Farewell, I am WELL" belting out "Well" the song unleashes into the final chorus with the beats sounding harder then before and Urie's voice sounding stronger. Smoke starts filling the arena once more on the stage as Urie continues finalizing the performance. So much smoke fills the stage that you can hardly see Urie, lights start dimming almost to the point where you can only see Urie's shadow without the spotlight.

You stood around and watched my head drown

RIOT! IN THE BOULEVARD LIVE

UserPostedImage

Thoughts Like This

The lights all go down and the audience has now become silent with the anticipation of Riot! In The Boulevard’s arrival onstage, the stage is completely dark but the crowd can sense movement on the darkened stage before a voice can be heard, the recognizable tone of lead singer Amy Meyer “Are you guys ready for a Riot!” … the crowd erupt at this point and as drummer Nathan Mullen can be heard shouting, “1,2,3,4” the lights suddenly come back on shining down on the stage as pyro’s fire out from the front of the stage, the band lead into the opening song.
The opening lead guitar riff by Justin Mullen introduces the song, followed by a bass line from Jason Greenberg, combined with the beating drums from Nathan Mullen all tied together by the rhythm guitar of Adam Benjamin, set the song up as the crowd cheer and the band members moving around the stage with the energy expected from a group of teenage rock stars. Amy paces around the front of the stage with both hands wrapped around the microphone she begins to sing the opening lyrics to the first song of the evening;

”I feel like I’m dying
Feel like I’m trying way too hard to learn to feel
I don’t feel like living
The love I’m giving, doesn’t seem so real to me
---
It’s hard to find the words to make you see
It’s hard to make you see what we could be
And a mirror in my hands shows only me
And it’s pain like this that makes me feel free
---
Those loveless moments make me feel small
I could climb so far but I would only fall
Crashing so hard when I hit the ground
And it’s those moments, where my soul is found
---
It’s thoughts like this that make me go insane
Like a drug filled needle sticking in my vein
And it’s thoughts like this that make me go insane
For you, I’d take a bullet to the brain”

Cradle To The Grave

The music fades for a brief moment before Nathan Mullen starts furiously beating his drums which is quickly followed by a lead guitar riff from Justin Mullen as the band quickly plays into the title track from their sophomore record, ‘Cradle To The Grave’. The bass combines with the drums and guitar to create a fast paced energy which is only enhanced by Ms. Meyer at the centre of the stage attempting to get the crowd moving, Amy is jumping up and down and is constantly looking across at Adam Benjamin who happens to be the closest band member to her on the rather large stage, the music softens slightly in order to give the full effect of Amy’s vocals as she begins to sing;

“She was born into this life without a fighting chance
Everything that you’d take for granted, everything that you’d expect
Imagine a life without those security’s, imagine a life full of neglect
And she was born without a chance, hope never came around
She lit a match, took a step back, burning this place to the ground
---
Pretty little princess, she’s got her daddy’s eyes
Pretty little princess, what’s hiding behind those lies
Pretty little princess, with a killer smile to boot
Pretty little princess, unafraid to shoot
---
At eight years old, she knows how to aim
She’ll cause a riot with just one look, I wonder who’s to blame
Neglected through her youth, can she face the truth?
She’ll learnt to aim and nothing will ever be the same
But I still wonder, who’s to blame?
---
She goes from, the cradle to the grave
An existence only for the brave
She goes from, the cradle to the grave
A lonely path set out for the brave”

Something Old, Something New

The music fades from the previous song and this time Amy takes the chance to allow Justin and Adam to change guitars for the next song by talking to the crowd, “You guys had fun so far?” she asks, the response was obvious with the whole venue erupting into cheers, “Wow! Well no pressure on us then.” She smiles as the crowd cheer slightly, “We’re gonna play you a song from our debut album.” She says, constantly looking over at Justin and Adam and it’s obvious that she’s just trying to buy them a little extra time before she finally stares down at the floor and whispers into the microphone, “Something Old, Something New”. She quickly looks out at the crowd before, “Do it!” which is quickly followed by a powerful drum beat and the thrashing electric guitars, the rhythm of the song is maintained throughout by bassist Jason Greenberg. Amy is constantly jumping up and down but still manages to maintain good compose for her vocals as she starts singing;

“Wearing boots and deadly leather
Don’t feel so good, under the weather
Come over and see me, I’m on my own
This lonely house, doesn’t feel like home
---
A message left on my answering machine
You’re not gonna be around anymore
you’re the leaving scene
A bottomless pit is where I’m falling
I’m slowly dying and you’re not calling
---
Will you regret me, will you forget me
Will you kiss me, will you miss me
Will you regret me, will you forget me
Will you kiss me, will you miss me
---
A gift for you will arrive soon
Open it alone, in your bedroom
You’ll see just the depths of my love that’s true
I’m sending a gift and it’s for you
---
Something old, something new, something fragile
Will my broken heart do?
Something old, something new, something dying
It’s sent to you”

The Echoes Of My Soul

Located to the left of the stage is a large black piano, Amy wanders across towards the piano before sitting down on the small chair, “So … we’re gonna slow down the pace a little right now, hope you guys like this … it’s called, The Echoes Of My Soul” she informs the audience as they cheer and holler at the red-headed front woman. She begins playing a slightly different intro to the song which is quickly met with the acoustic guitar of Adam Benjamin, as the music progresses, the inclusion of Justin Mullen, Nathan Mullen and Jason Greenberg become more clear as they play in a rather melodic fashion which complements the piano and acoustic guitar perfectly, it’s a slow build which focuses on the lyrics and Amy’s vocals;

”I’ll make a wish, place it in my heart
Everything that I need for my life to finally start
Will it make things right, will it make things real
Will it make my heart finally begin to heal
---
So now that I have it, I’ll believe it can come true
You’d think I’m doing this for myself, but the truth is that I’m doing this for you
Because once you have me at my best, we can be happy together and forget all the rest
So to those who say wishes can’t ever be real
Make a wish for them, in the hope that they’ll heal
---
So now I’m singing with the echoes
Just the echoes of my soul
Fell like a gap has gone, I’ve removed the hole
So sing with your echoes
The echoes of your soul, together we can stand as one
Together we won’t fall
---
If you believe what you really want
Can someday come true
Open your heart and mind to the possibility of it all
And it will make its way to you”

Remember Me As A Place In Time

Still sat at the piano, Amy looks around for a brief moment before addressing the audience, “When your young everything is scary, I know this because I’m still young and I’m still scared. Even though it may seem like, ‘Oh she’s 18 years old and she’s in this pretty well known band, everything’s perfect for her’ but everything isn’t perfect. I’m still figuring things out and things are still so big and scary to me right now … I dunno, maybe I’m just too young to know my own heart.” She seems to sigh as she speaks but begins playing the intro to the next song, “Maybe I’m just lying to myself …”, the soft acoustic guitar and piano combination are at the forefront once more as Amy starts singing;

”Hello my former friend
It’s nice to see you here again
What brings you back around these parts
Are you here to see the broken heart you left
Does it make you feel guilty, lonely and bereft
Does it make you feel sad knowing what you’ve done
With those words that you said, does it make you feel numb
---
See I don’t know why you did those bad things
Were you afraid of the joy’s that love brings
Or was it just a game, an attempt to hurt me or turn my heart black
Just like a tide that left and never came back
---
My friends looked down at me with pity in their eyes
But they don’t know the pain that comes with goodbye’s
See, A million words would not bring you back
I know because I tried
Neither would a million tears
I know because I cried
I just kept telling myself
The memories are worth the pain
But it was no use to me
I knew I wouldn’t see you again
---
Will you remember me as a place in time?
Brought together as our souls entwined
Will you remember me with a smile on my face?
Will you remember me as a time and place?
So I’ll just take a deep breath and fake a smile
And keep telling myself that it was all worthwhile”

Sweet And Low (Augustana Cover)

As the previous song ends, Amy steps out to the centre of the stage to take a bow with the rest of the band, surrounded by a wall of noise, cheers which may be more likely used as an encouragement for the band to return and as Amy, Justin, Nathan, Adam and Jason all leave the stage the applause continues, a couple of stools have now been placed into the centre of the stage with two microphone stands in front of them and of course there is an onstage return for the fans to feast upon but surprisingly it’s not a full band return but instead it’s only Amy and the newest member of the band, Adam Benjamin that return to the stage. Adam has his acoustic guitar in hand as they both sit down on the stool, they share a moment where they stare at each other and smile before Amy takes hold of the microphone and only says the songs title, “Sweet and Low!” she looks at Adam as he begins playing the opening chords to the song and Amy quickly begins to sing in a soft tone that shows off the melodic side to her vocals, perhaps even more surprising is the vocal trade-off between the pair;

Amy Vocals – Red
Adam Vocals – Blue
Together - Black

“Anywhere you go, anyone you meet
Remember that your eyes can be your enemies
I said, hell is so close and heaven’s out of reach
But I ain’t giving up quite yet
I’ve got too much to lose

---
Hold me down, sweet and low, little girl
Hold me down, sweet and low, and I will carry you home
Hold me down, sweet and low, little girl
Hold me down and I’ll carry you home

---
The rain is gonna fall, the sun is gonna shine
The wind is gonna blow, the water’s gonna rise
She said, when that day comes, look into my eyes
No one’s giving up quite yet,
We’ve got too much to lose

---
And I’ll carry you all the way
When you say your fine
But you’re still young and out of line
When all I need’s turn to around
To make it last, to make it count
I ain’t gonna make the same mistakes
That put my mama in her grave
I don’t wanna be alone

---
So hold me down, sweet and low, little girl
Hold me down, sweet and low and I will carry you home
Hold me down, sweet and low, little girl
Hold me down and I’ll carry you all the way”

Sweet Little Fantasy’s

The music ends for the briefest of moments as Amy and Adam both stand to their feet and encourage the crowd to wave their arms back and forth, Amy smiles and puts her arm around Adam’s shoulder as she shouts to the crowd, “I wanna hear every single one of you singing this right now, you guys ready.” She pauses to allow the cheers from the crowd before continuing, “SWEET LITTLE FANTASY’S”. The crowd erupt as Adam begins playing a fast paced acoustic introduction to the song and the two sing the entire song in unison and in harmony;

”She wears her hair down low
She walks the streets once more
She writes little Fairytales in her head
It’s tragic, because they always end up dead
---
Sweet little fantasy’s
Coming away with me
Sweet little fantasy’s
Coming away with me
---
They say that her face could launch a thousand ships
The guys were desperate to be kissing her red lips
Instead she walks the streets at night looking for tips
Show some skin once more and we’ll call it quits
---
Sweet little fantasy’s
Coming away with me
Sweet little fantasy’s
Coming away with me”

Radio: This is such great and unique talent. Hey Lolita was my favorite because she graced the song with her unique and her smoothing voice that made the music sounds just amazing. This is an showcase to remember because the talent, voices and music was just remarkable!
