Lead singer of the most successful girl group in the world, a superstar on her own, a record label owner, a successful business woman, and one of the most photographed women in the world. A camera crew followed Nadia Berry every day for two months to get an insight on her daily life, to discover her tragic secret past, and for her to set the record straight.

A shot of Nadia walking into her Montana home is shown, she's then followed inside, greeting boyfriend Ryan Ross Hernandez with a kiss on the lips, as he's sat playing his guitar on the sofa in their lounge. The scene then cuts back to Nadia sitting in a light, open space, sat on a white chair in front of tall glass windows, a beautiful scene of Los Angeles behind her.

Why did you want to do this documentary?
Nadia: "I've been in this industry a long time, I've been through a lot, and I think it's time that I get a lot out in the open and show people the true me. People see the Nadia Berry that's smiling on a magazine cover, or the Nadia Berry that's happy when up on stage. But I wanna show them the Nadia Berry that lives her life just like anyone else would, like when I wake up in the morning without make-up... as horrifying as it may be. (laughs) Really, it's a bare-all documentary."

What is the life of Nadia Berry like? Will it shock some?
Nadia: "I guess everyone's about to find out over these next two months! I don't think it'll be shocking in the sense that people are gonna see me doing drugs and getting wasted every night. That's not who I am, maybe it'll shock people in the sense that I'm just like them, that I do things anyone else does. Deep down, I still feel like that young, lost girl from London who was trying to make a name for herself in any way that she could."

We then see a busy road, sped up to show thousands of cars passing through it, before the camera turns to show a large billboard, promoting Nadia's latest album Hera.

Nadia: "Then I see a billboard of myself, or I hear myself on the radio, then I remember that I'm actually quite famous... just a little bit."

* All questions in bold are separate interview scenes shot in L.A., representing a cut between the footage.

Today is Ryan Ross Hernandez's 35th birthday, Nadia is seen in the kitchen at exactly 8:00am, wearing a Led Zeppelin tank top and shorts, barefoot and without make-up. She's seen focusing on a birthday breakfast for Ryan, as she talks to the camera crew in a hushed tone, looking back every so often to look into the camera.

You and Ryan are possibly the biggest celebrity couple out there, why do you think you two have lasted so long?
Nadia: "It's just a matter of compatibility, I think. Me and Ryan are just two well-suited people, we've got a lot of things in common, but we also come from two completely different backgrounds. We don't agree all the time, and that's what keeps things exciting and fresh in our relationship. There's never a dull moment, I couldn't date a boring person, but he interests me."

Nadia: "Okay guys, I'm being quiet so I don't wa-"

Boots barks at Nadia and she gasps, looking down and putting a finger to her lips in attempt to silence her. She quickly lets her out into the garden, then returns to her original position.

Nadia: "As I was saying, yes, I don't wanna wake Ry, so I'm pretty much whispering. All without make-up, it's all very horror movie-esque today guys. (laughs) My boyfriend is 35 years young today, so I'm just making sure he has a good day, I've got a few things up my sleeve."

She's seen taking the breakfast upstairs, and although the camera crew don't follow Nadia into the bedroom, she's heard waking up Ryan, sweetly singing "Happy Birthday". Ryan sounds surprised and chuckles in response, thanking her before they kiss, she then leaves the room and grins to the camera.

What does Ryan mean to you?
Nadia: "He's more than just a boyfriend to me, Ryan's my everything, we live together, we see so much of each other, our lives pretty much revolve around each other now. You'll probably see a lot of Ryan, and hear a lot about Ryan in this documentary. Why? Because he's part of my life, and I want people to know and see that. I can happily say my life dramatically changed for the better the years back when I met Ryan and we started dating."

Later in the day, Nadia is seen holding a box as her and Ryan are sat in the lounge. She hands him the box and tells him to open it, he does so, revealing a gold chain. Nadia tells him the story behind it, it belonged to her grandfather who passed away just a few short years ago, and she explains how she was asked to give it to a special person in her life. The two of them are seen a little teary-eyed and Ryan seems almost speechless at the gift, he smiles softly and pulls her in for a hug. The scene then fades out.

Nadia's seen in the studio built next to their Montana home, writing a song for her greatest hits release, titled "You Wanted War". Putting the guitar lessons Ryan has given her to good use, she's seen strumming along to her guitar for an acoustic section in the song, sat in the recording booth.

What do you think the public in general think of you as a musician?
Nadia: "I'd like to think I'm thought of as an extremely hard working individual, because I believe I am. But part of me thinks that the public overlook a lot of stuff that I do, I think they just see me as an untalented, manufactured artist who's some sort of cash cow for her record label."

Your time with Chaos Records is up with the release of your greatest hits album, why did you choose to not renew your contract with them?
Nadia: "It definitely wasn't the case of not liking the label, Chaos have been there right from the start when GirlSpice relaunched. The group became even bigger than before, and it was with their support that helped to make it happen. They were also willing to stand by me when I chose to go solo again, I achieved success I could have never imagined with them, so they've definitely done a lot for me. I just thought after so much time there, it was time to venture out and take complete control of my career, and I'll be able to do that with releasing through my own label. Not to say that Chaos didn't give me complete control over my music, because they did, but this way I get all the input behind the scenes too."

Now out of the booth, Nadia sits alone, tweaking the lyrics that she's written for the song, nodding her head along in approval after she's tweaked some of the lines to perfection.

So really, you just wanted more control?
Nadia: "Yeah, I felt like I wasn't showing everyone what I was really capable of. And there was a lot of things in my past that I wanted to address in my own music, I mean, you can't really do that when there's another three girls in a group with you, it's not fair. The music is supposed to be something you can all enjoy, the others can't really relate to or enjoy a track about my own personal past. We don't sit in a circle listing all of our own problems, we've always just made music that made us feel good. But I wanted to do more than that, because I do believe I'm talented, so why hide that away for so long? I wanted a change in my career, so I made that change happen."

As a treat for Ryan, Nadia has taken him away to Paris for his birthday for the rest of the week. The pair are seen holding hands while walking along a road, on their way to the Eiffel Tower which they move towards. Nadia turns to the camera every so often while speaking.

Nadia: "I've got my little French beret on, I'm getting into the whole spirit, seeing as we're gonna be going up to the Eiffel Tower. I think I may have been French in a past life, what do you think, Ry? I think this suits me."

She laughs and nudges him, as he gives her an approving thumbs up and a whispered approval due to his vocal condition.

Nadia: "I've actually always wanted to go to Paris for a visit, I've been before on tours and stuff, but I've never been able to actually relax and enjoy it like I am now. I don't like heights though, so I don't have a clue why I'm doing this."

She laughs, before the clip cuts to show them both at the top of the Eiffel Tower. A few people around them notice them and look on in disbelief, while others take their phones and cameras out to take a picture. A young fan walks up to Nadia and she kneels down to them and gives them a hug, before happily signing an autograph.

After their trip to Paris, quick shots of Nadia and Ryan are shown, the two of them unpacking back at home, before the interview scene follows.

Fame ruined your life at one point, how do you cope so well with it now after two hit albums? Surely your fame has reached new heights this past year?
Nadia: "Honestly, I was young then and we all grow up and learn to deal with things better as we get older. Why complain about something you can't change? I hate complainers, so I just learn to deal with it. It helps having Ryan and the rest of GirlSpice, because you don't feel alone, you know there's others experiencing what you are. I have some normality in my life though, a lot of my friends aren't in the industry or famous in any way, and I like that. I like sitting and talking with them, because no matter how famous someone is, they're just like any ordinary person on the street, it just so happens that their life is constantly followed by the media."

What made you want to go back to being a solo artist?
Nadia: "I guess I just like the freedom of it, the sense of being able to do whatever I want to do, and having omnipotent control over my music. I felt kind of overprotected at one point, you know? My management, my boyfriend, my record label... they wanted the best for me and were quite worried that the stress and schedule of a solo career would be too much for me to handle after having a very public breakdown years ago. No one wanted to rush or push me into anything, but they all had the faith in me and let me do what I wanted to do, so I began work on Open Heart Surgery with all of their support, and it just blew up, it was crazy."

Old GirlSpice footage begins to play, with all of the girls backstage, just about to go on stage. The girls and their dancers all holding hands and grouping together in a circle for the last moments before showtime.

Did the solo success make any of the other girls jealous? Or even cause a rift between you and the others?
Nadia: "I've had nothing but love and support from the other girls, just because I've managed to achieve what I have on my own doesn't change anything. I truly believe the others could achieve it too, because they're all talented girls with great personalities. I know Sophia has made some music on her own, but I just don't think the others want to go at it alone, they're happy with just being in GirlSpice, and that's great."

Do you feel a pressure to go back to GirlSpice? The fact that all of the other girls seem to be waiting for you to finish your solo duties must be a weight on your shoulders?
Nadia: "We wanted a break anyway, it's not me running off and saying, 'I've had fun, but I want to just be a solo artist now, goodbye', we all agreed on it. We got back together and pleased our fans, then we went to do our own thing again afterwards, because we're grown women with busy lives of our own. I've got a record label, my own music, a busy filming schedule, Sophia's making her own music, Chantal's going to become a mother, Kimberly's working behind the scenes and writing songs, we all have our own things to do. So no, there's really no pressure.

Would you want GirlSpice to make another album?
Nadia: "At this moment, I can't see myself being able to fit it into my schedule, but if the others wanted to do it amongst themselves, then I'd be happy to let them. I don't want to hold them back."

Nadia is seen in her dressing room at 5am to prepare for the first day of filming for Scary Movie 5, sat in a chair in front of a mirror while she talks to her hair stylist, Pete.

Nadia: "Bless Pete, he wakes up early all the time just to make my hair look pretty."

Pete: "Well men get the job done, Nads. I couldn't trust you to do your own hair now, could I?"

She gasps and turns her head around, Pete grabbing her head and making her face forward.

Nadia: "I'm offended! I'm perfectly capable of doing my own hair and make-up."

Pete: "Shall I just leave then?"

Nadia: "Yes, you're fired. I'm nervous enough about today, I don't need you ruining things for me."

Pete: "I may just accidentally cut a big chunk of your hair out then before I leave."

Nadia gasps again and the two of them start laughing.

Pete: "You know, there's always a question I've wanted to ask you."

Nadia: "What?"

Pete: "What's Ryan like in bed?"

Nadia shakes her head and gives him an evil look.

Nadia: "Just do my hair, Pete."

Pete: "Let Ryan do me then?"

Nadia: "No, no sharing!"

There's a moment of silence, before the two of them start laughing again.

Nadia is seen at an event in L.A. for breast cancer awareness month, preparing to go on stage to give a speech and present a donation of $1,000,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. A snippet of her giving her speech follows.

Nadia: "... I know what it's like, and it's hard to feel like you can't help the people you love most. When you look into their eyes and feel like one day soon, you won't even be able to get that chance because they'll be gone. Thankfully, my mother overcame her breast cancer recently and has been given the all clear. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, for now, we can't stop that. But with thanks to everyone here today, we can help those that are unfortunate enough to be diagnosed with breast cancer, by raising money for treatment and raising awareness. Thank you."

Do you remember being told about your mother's breast cancer?
Nadia: "I remember, I was on tour at the time with Katie. I was on the tour bus in my room, my dad called me up and told me about it, and I remember just feeling completely numb at that point. I thought of cancer, and my mind just automatically thought of death, as bad as that sounds. In that situation, I just thought of the worse, because so many people lose the fight to cancer, it was a horrible thing to deal with. I just didn't know how to cope with that, especially because me and my mum are so close. I remember being scared of talking about it, keeping it to myself for a while, because saying it aloud only made it seem more real. I just wanted to be with my mum at the time, and I was in the middle of a tour and I didn't want to let the fans down, my dad told me to stay and just come home when my schedule was free, so I did what he said. But it was so hard, it was a really tough time."

A shot of outside the North Hill Records headquaters appears, cutting to Nadia seen in her office. She sits in an office chair and spins around on it a few times, pictures of the signed artists up on the wall behind her.

Nadia: "I quite like these chairs, like if I had to be permanently stuck to a chair, it would be this one. Actually, I'd just use it as a way to commute, I could wheel along from my house to whatever destination, that'd be fun. (laughs) I shouldn't have coffee, I get quite hyper."

The camera man laughs soon after her, and she lifts her cup of coffee up as if to drink it, before she bursts out into laughter again. Following randomly, she begins to speak with a full-on British accent.

Nadia: "Are you laughing at me? Don't be daft dahhling, stawp it."

She closes her eyes and puts her hands together, as if to pray.

Nadia: "Can we just take a moment to mourn the loss of my British accent? It's still in there somewhere, but it's lost, fighting to get out, but hopelessly losing the battle between the American accent that's invaded me."

She soon opens her eyes and her and the camera man burst back into laughter. Her phone then rings and she tells the camera that it's Ryan, before picking it up, once again speaking in the British accent.

Nadia: "Hello dahhling, what may one do for you today?"

She's seen laughing and quickly puts the mobile to her chest as she whispers.

Nadia: "That totally turned him on."

She puts the phone back to her ear, before her and the camera man break out into laughter again.

Back at the interview scene, there's a dramatic change in mood and feel, Nadia looks strangely uncertain before a question is asked.

It's funny how it seems you're ditching GirlSpice now, when back then, you were the one who was kicked out. What do you think?
Nadia: "I think that's really unfair to say, because I'm not ditching anyone. I have the support of the other girls, and I never expected my life to get this busy, but that's just what's happened, things change. You should never bite the hand that feeds you, and without GirlSpice, I wouldn't be here today, so it's definitely not me just ditching the group. That group changed my life, I don't have a bad word to say, not a single one. It was different years ago, I was a complete different person with an untreated mental disorder that almost ruined my career. Unless you've been there, you really don't know what that does to you. "

How so?
Nadia: "You know, to be living in this giant blur for a year or two of your life and to then like, suddenly wake up on the other side of it all and realise just what's happened. It's scary, to finally wake up and feel normal again, then you look back at the past few years of your life and think, 'What the fuck have I done?' because I could have lost it all, it feels like you've wasted so much time. (She's seen quite teary eyed and her voice begins to shake a little, a tear or two escaping from her eyes) It's why I'm so open to talking about bipolar disorder, because I know there's people out there who don't even know they have it, and it's a tough thing to go through at that stage. I want to use the status I have to help others, I think that's important."

What's so different now then?
Nadia: "Everything, I guess. I've done a complete 180 and changed my life. If I can survive the tough times that I've been through, then I think it's important for people to know that you can overcome pretty much anything. Believe it or not, I'm actually quite shy... I had this meltdown in the public eye and it's really quite embarrassing to look back on that, it hurts your confidence a lot. It's made me really guarded, I had people in the past who took advantage of the fragile state I was in, so it's hard for me to trust people now. It's ruined friendships of mine, it's made people think different of me, but that's just how I am now."

Friendships like the one with Katie Coyle?
Nadia: "Yeah, we were unbelievably close on tour. She was my best friend at one point, you know? But it's a friendship that couldn't have worked, we're two completely different people. And I think when you're quite guarded and unsure of others, it's hard to maintain a friendship."

What do you think of her relationship?
Nadia: "I say good for her, good for anyone who can find a person to love and trust, we all deserve happiness."

Ooc: Great work on this.

Katie: I agree with what Nadia says about our friendship. It was a real shame but I still appreciate our friendship.I gained a lot of emotional support and learned a lot from it. I hope things continue to go well for you, Nads.

OOC: While I was reading this I was actually envisioning Nadia in each segment of the show so well because you've done an excellent job on executing this this RP. It was a really enjoyable read and I've been able to learn alot about who Nadia Berry is deep down, things that I didn't know about her. Seriously one of my favorite RP's on here at the moment. Excellent job!

Nadia and Ryan are seen at their Montana home, Ryan is laid on the floor, wearing shorts, whilst Nadia gives the camera a sly smile.

Nadia: "Hello Ryan, welcome to my salon, what can I do for you today?"

Ryan: "I'd tell you, but it might be just a little inappropriate for your younger fans watching this."

Nadia gasps, then applies some warm wax to part of his lower leg.

Nadia: "This is being done for charity guys, isn't Ry a sweetie?"

Ryan: "I'm not even gonna say anything to that."

She quickly places the strip onto the same spot she applied wax to, then rubs it on with some slight pressure.

Nadia: "I swear, you have legs like King Kong."

Ryan: "Wait, wait, wait, can I have a glass of scotch before we do this?"

Nadia: "Babe, you just had two."

Ryan: "You can never have e-"

She quickly pulls the strip back whilst Ryan is mid-sentence, he grits his teeth and quickly sucks the air in through them to stop himself from whimpering out in pain. She holds the strip up to the camera, showing all the hair she removed from that spot.

Nadia: "Dayum, I'm good at this!"

Ryan: "Fuck, fuck, fuck."

Nadia: "Don't be a baby."

She repeats the process and pulls the strip back fast on another spot. Ryan gives a similar reaction and tilts his head back, closing his eyes in pain.

Ryan: "Arghh, this really shouldn't be legal. Whoever came up with this, I hate you."

Nadia lets out a giggle, looking quite pleased with herself. The scene then speeds up, showing Nadia swiftly removing the hair from both of his legs. Returning to its normal speed once she's finished.

Ryan: "I swear, I better be getting a reward for that."

Nadia: "Your reward is the money raised for charity and the satisfaction of silky smooth legs."

Ryan looks unimpressed, and quickly rushes off. Nadia calls out to him as he makes his exit.

Nadia: "Will you be returning for a second wax anytime soon, Ry? I'll give you a discount!"

Ryan: "No, fuck no. That's enough, I need a scotch after that."

Nadia: "He'll be back."

How are your legs feeling after Nadia waxed them for you?
Ryan: "They've seen better days, that's for sure. At the very least it was for a good cause though, both Nadia and I support various breast cancer foundations and research institutes. I didn't mind doing it once in my lifetime. I want to make it clear that it's not happening again."

But in all seriousness, as the director and producer of this documentary, what was the number one thing you wanted to accomplish?
Ryan: "I don't know if I should say I'm the person who knows Nadia best, but I am the person she spends the most time with when she's not popstar Nadia Berry on a stage. I wanted to capture how she was behind the scenes, where cameras wouldn't usually be located. The everyday Nadia Berry. It was very easy to be the director and produce this documentary because we didn't change our lives for six weeks to do this. She continued to live her life as she does, without the need to change anything for the cameras. We didn't want to bullshit people. When I watched documentaries of my favorite musicians, I ended up liking them more because I could relate in some level, aside from being a musician, more so as a human. That was my number one goal, to implant the human factor into Inside Out."

You've known Nadia for several years now, how has your opinion changed on her from now compared to when you first met her?
Ryan: "My opinion has never changed on her. I've formed my opinion on her based on the years I've known her and have gotten the chance to do so. It would have been unfair if either of us made assumptions about the other when we first met since we both didn't have great track records. We obviously had conversations about her past, but that was just that, the past. My opinion is of a woman who had struggles but she overcame them, which unfortunately sometimes you don't see. Nads overcame them and became in my opinion, not only the fronting star in GirlSpice, but also one of the biggest solo artists today. She's become a strong woman who is impossible to knockdown. The amount of people like her who reach the level of fame and success that she has, yet stay so humanized are few."

Your relationship hasn't been received well by everyone, but you two have one of the longest running relationships in the industry. What do you think has made it work?
Ryan: "We don't publicize our relationship. Whether things are going well for us or not, we don't talk about it. When you've been in the industry long enough, you know the places to go when you don't want to be seen. You don't have to be a reclusive, you just have to know where to go. We keep our relationship behind closed doors as best we can. It takes a lot to have a relationship and maintain it for as long as we have, I don't think it would have been successful if we showcased it. We're both old enough to not want our private lives in the spotlight, this documentary is one off, there won't be another. What has made us last this long? I'd say it's about learning from our past mistakes and being wise enough to not replicate them with each other."

It wasn't long ago that you had your vocal surgery, and despite the struggles, do you think it has brought you and Nadia closer together?
Ryan: "Well personally it's made me thankful to have her in my life. I know this entire period of my life is difficult. I'm not sure how I would have dealt with it without Nadia by my side. It's funny because I had to buy her an iPad before I had the surgery because I couldn't say a single word for about two months, even now I'm still in whispering mode. I have a few more months of being in the recovery period. But beside the point, pretty much two months I had to communicate to her entirely through this wireless keyboard I carried around everywhere that was synced to both our iPad's. I think that's how you know a relationship can stand the test of time, have surgery to remove a granuloma in your vocal chords, and don't say a single word to your partner for two months. If they are still there, they truly love you."

It's been a while since you last did an interview. The July issue of Rolling Stone had the title of "Ryan Ross Hernandez, A Changed Man". Are you a changed man and what has changed for you since then?
Ryan: "Trust me, it's going to be an even longer period of time before I do another interview to that scale. To answer your question, I didn't select that title, the interviewer and editors of Rolling Stone were the ones who choose that. Do I feel I've changed? Yeah, some people call it changing, but to me I just grew the hell up. It took me a while but I finally hit my head against a brick wall that I couldn't climb above, that made me realize I wasn't heading into the direction I wanted my life to go in. I got out of my twenties, or better said, mentally I got out of my twenties and now I accept the fact that I'm thirty-five years old. I don't read what people say or think about me anymore, I don't need to feel validated by everyone anymore. I feel like I'm learning on the run to be the man I want to be. I'm comfortable where my life is at the moment."

You also stated that you wanted to escape to Montana in that interview. Has it been the right choice?
Ryan: "I just have to say that Montana is beautiful. I've been in the big cities all my life, Montana is the opposite of that. It's the big country ranch feel. We have the Yellowstone River flowing in our backyard. It's lovely. Currently I'm splitting my time between Montana and Los Angeles, I feel both locations serve a purpose for me. New York City and Los Angeles are two cities I'll never be able to stay away from, most of my friends and bandmates, the people I love live in those two cities. Which we've had some friends visit us in Montana and they stay a weekend and fall in love with the place. We have the North Hill Records offices in LA, so we're always going to be going back there, we also have a gorgeous home there. But Montana so far has served as the escape I was seeking when I initially had this idea of buying a place there. I needed a place between New York City and Los Angeles where he public, paparazzi camera lens do not reach. No one is hiding outside of our house in Montana, we've even been to local spots around town and you don't see the gossip magazines at the front of every newsstand as you would in other places. I don't have a single regret about living there. It's a peaceful escape."

It's the end of the last filming day of the documentary, as Ryan and Nadia pack up their suitcases once again to get ready for a trip to Maui. They pack their bags up into a car and get in, before Nadia pulls the window down and waves to the camera with a grin on her face.

What have you learnt about yourself in this documentary?
Nadia: "It's made me realise that I've so far had one tragic, beautiful, fucked up life... and I wouldn't have it any other way."

She smiles and the credits roll.

Ryan: While I'm not a fan of one particular scene in this documentary, I really wanted to get cut but there it is. I'm happy with the final outcome of it. I'm so proud of Nadia for doing this, because as much as you can see me in this documentary, I would never do this about my own life. This was showcasing the Nadia Berry I know and love. Hopefully after people watch this, they fall in love with her too.

OOC: This RP turned out great. I loved reading each part of it and was always looking forward to the next. As others said, it brought something new to the forums.
