IMO Crucifix is pretty cool if the whole things just for fun, but if your seriously serious about it come up with something original, because there are plenty of 'Proggy-Thrash meta' bands out there who are all equally as talented as you. You have to have something different to bring to the table. Either that, or you have to kick fucking ass.

The Running Free, along with House Atlantic.

Major tip - DON'T reference other bands. It makes people want to dismiss you instantly.

Stiff Little Fingers were named after a Vibrators song? Although, you are right.

There's loads of famous bands that have done it.

But generally with newer stuff, it seems weak and uncreative.

Some band added me last year on myspace called "I Am The Rumour" - direct You Me At Six quote. Along with that, there's are a We Are The Rumour. It's just lazy.

I could not yawn harder.

And AJ, the impression I give through the forum is not enough to say I'm one of the most pedantic people you'll have encountered? :P

Comedy is great. Music is great.

"Comedy" music is one huge mistake, with only a handful of good examples. Weird Al is certainly one of those, the first time you hear it, when you are 12. After that, not so much.

I just can't think of any good ones apart from stuff sung by Eric Idle for Monty Python.

But there are good normal bands who can throw in amusing lyrics, but that's entirely a different topic to me.

Actually, most of those names were Coheed references. xD
But, we may come up with something different.

My band kinda broke up when I moved to the north of the country. I'm still writing songs though.

People seem to come up with terrible names for their bands. People even seem to start bands and then spend ages trying to think what the name will be. For me, the name comes first, and that suggests the music. Nowadays the fashion is for half-sentences like "You Me At Six", "Does it Offend You Yeah?" or "Get Cape Wear Cape Fly" which really pisses me off greatly for some unknown reason. It's gotten to the point I can almost tell how much I will hate a band simply by their name, and the examples where I have been surprised I can count on probably one hand.

There's a reason I just call them A Silver Mount Zion...

Great band though. Really great.
