There can be this number of people on the same room with me, but if nobody talks to me longer than "what time is it?", and I don't like the person enough to continue the conversation, I'm alone.

In America a loner is a person who likes to be alone (they avoid people). Like a clique in High School. Some people are called loners because they are always alone. I think thats what he was referring to.

I'm quite content though.
