Dead for a Reason (Feat. Tisha Jackson)

Abie’s second official single from her most anticipated third studio album ‘The End Starts Now’, features one of the most successful pop singers of nowadays, Miss Tisha Jackson. Both of the singers were twitting to each other love messages of support and admiration, so it was inevitable that one day they would ended up working together.

The album is going to be released in May 31st, it has already spawned a number one single on both main charts and so now its second official single is going to be released in April 26th. Due to leaks of the album on internet, this single was anticipated as a stream version but it will only hit radios and Digital outlets next week.

A music video is being shot for a May release, the video is going to be released by Anthony Mandler and it will feature Abie, Tisha and a famous male actor yet to be announced. The video will consists of a love story of life and death.

The Song was produced in the alternative hip hop and trip hop genres. It first starts with and orchestral violin and choir and on its background can be hear fireworks till it breaks down to a Hip Hop bass beat. The main structure of the song is composed of various sounds and instruments, mixing hip hop and trip hop elements with orchestral sounds. In the chorus, Abie and Tisha half-sing, half-raps the lines. Abie employs an alternative rapping technique (probably influenced by the presence of Tisha Jackson on the writings of the song) sung above a hip hop beat and heavy bass lines, it sounds like Abie or Tisha were almost "chatting".

Other elements presented on the song are the choirs, loudly on the choruses of the song and harmonies provided by the duet which both of the singers are performing throughout the song. The singers also add ironical tones to their voices, but they also sound somehow morbid, especially because of the trip hop sounds among the other sounds in the song.

Lyrics are about someone who comprehends that its death is closer and so this person starts to ask himself about things that were done, when this person was alive, that weren’t good enough to leave a mark or even make other people remember its life. But at the same time the song also talks about the wish of each human to make a difference in the world, this is represented when the line ‘Tell them I died for a Reason’ is sung.

So far we perceive a switch on Abie Lena’s writing themes, her first two albums were mainly about heartbreaks, but in this new work her experiences of last year, influenced her to write songs about other themes like life and death. Also the choice of putting Gia-Rose as the executive producer of the album, turned it into a more sound elaborated work, it’s hardly different from anything we would expect to hear from Miss Abie, but so far it’s getting rave reviews. Gia proved to be a visionary on working with Abie, she’s taking Abie’s career to the next level.

Monologue

‘It seems that life has passed by me and I hadn’t realized what I did to be remembered. I don’t know where I’m going from here, if is there any other life after this transition, I just concern of what people will think when they’ll ever mention my name. Did I was fair enough with my parents, did I make good choices, and did I leave a mark on someone else’s life? I just can wonder. It’s a path that we all are gonna have to go through, the only certain thing you have in mind is the day you’re going to die. It’s coming my time, but I’m afraid I’m not ready, I don’t know how can I make it different, I just have the feeling that anytime soon I’ll be closing my eyes for the last time to sleep forever. Whenever you think about me, forgive me if I did anything wrong, if I made you cry, if I killed the love in my life and I also forgive you for making me cry, for taking love out of my life. In the end we know that nothing makes sense at all, I wish I had more time…’

The church bell rings, people are throwing Japanese lanterns on the river and so Abie is carrying one of these lanterns as she follows the crowd through the riverside. The song begins and so Abie lip-syncs it. The night is coming and all of those lanterns are lighted up and those are the lights of that dark night, Abie keeps walking and singing the song’s lyrics while other people carry other stuffs such as portraits and small objects which belongs to each one’s passing lover belongings.

There’s a bridge up ahead that walk they’re making, as they go reaching it, they throw the lantern on the river and it follows the river course. The whole scene is very touching and beautiful, there are thousands of people, some of them are carrying portraits of old people, there an old lady carrying her husband’s portraits, his wearing military clothes and by the age of the portrait, it looks like he was a military at the second world war, the old lady almost can’t walk by herself so she’s accompanied by her children. There’s a young couple carrying a portrait of a kid, probably it’s their son. Abie is with a necklace of her daddy on her chest.

As the lanterns follow the river course, far away from the place where Abie was, Tisha is carrying a lantern too, she’s all alone in a field, and as those lanterns comes along the river course, she drops her lantern on that river too. It’s her part of the song and she’s singing its lyrics. Tisha leaves that place heading to a hospital where she plans to visit someone very special for her, when she arrives there a doctor tells her that the person is dying, Tisha’s reaction keeps controlled, she doesn’t cry. She heads to the room where the person is being kept alive, when she arrives there she sees the person, which by the way is her. She’s lied there in the bed which is curious because she was carrying the lantern just like the other people and so Abie, and she’s dying now, and people are entering her room with lanterns on their hands and Tisha know it’s time for her to departure. Abie comes to join Tisha, so all of those people we saw in the begging of the video are dead, the portraits and personal belongings they’re carrying are a few things that would attach them to the world of livings, Tisha takes a portrait of her family and she leaves the room with all those souls and including Abie.

The scene switch to the park where Tisha was at first, but now she’s being followed by all of those people from the begging of the video, now they’re all entering on boats to follow the river’s course to the next life. Tisha and Abie joins another man in one boat, the man is a sort of and angel, he helps both of them to enter the boat and so he rows the boat to the infinity of that sea.

As Tisha and Abie leaves, scenes of their lives are remembered by them, Abie remembers herself with her family in a sunny day having lunch together on the yard of their house, she’s with her husband and two beautiful girls, probably her daughters, as she kisses her husband as her daughters are playing on that yard, they look like a happy family. Tisha remembers her living life too, she remembers a day that she spent with her boyfriend in a theater, they went to watch a scary movie, their love was so beautiful to be seen, they look happy and in love with each other. As the scene goes back to the girls on that boat heading to nowhere, the angels announce them that finally they’re about to leave the material world to live eternally in somewhere else far away from here. Abie hold Tisha’s hands and they fade away on the line of the horizon of that immensely sea.

Final Monologue

‘In the end love will prove to be the only important thing you will leave behind, don’t be afraid to love, don’t be afraid to say ‘I love you’ we cannot predict the future, we cannot predict what is coming to happen, today you might be beside your loving ones, but in a sudden you pass away and so the opportunity goes with you. We are brought to this world for a reason and we have to make this reason last beyond us, we have to live intensely, don’t think you need to live long, because your life will be long if you live it each day as if would be the last day. Hate won’t lead you to nowhere and if you were hurt, don’t waste your time on hurting yourself even more by filling your heart with rage and anger, erase the bad memories, keep the good ones, and you realize that when you die, you had died for a reason.’
