contestant Ashley Grimmie comes to us with her second single after releasing her debut single "Don't Wanna Pretend Anymore" which was written by close friend Allyson Grace and produced by her other friend James Diamond back in February of this year the singer went pretty quiet she returns now with this new single "Won't Be Hurt this time" which is completely different from her debut single this song was written by her she wrote it not long after the show and went back into the studio with her friend James Diamond to record this new track this one sounds completely different from what we've heard or thought we'd ever hear from Ashley this song is way more upbeat and her piano skills aren't showed off here and instead of singing in that soft sweet voice that we heard in her debut single we hear more of a confidence in this song as she shows off her vocal talents here the song speaks about someone either being in a bad relationship or being bullied or anything else and the person has just had enough and changed their whole attitude about pretty much everything The song starts out kinda slow it stays slow for a good 2 seconds until the beat kicks in it sounds more like a pop rock song than the last one we hear the intro for the song it plays for about 18 seconds until we finally hear Ashley come in singing with this new found confidence that we hadn't heard from her before she was the shy nervous girl on StarFactory however she sounded completely different from that here she sings the first few lines in a bit of a deeper voice then we're use to from her it isn't exactly deep but she's known for her more soft high voice so this is probably considered deep for her she continues singing this way throughout the first verse which is rather short before we finally here the chorus come in the beat get's a bit more intense as does her voice she starts singing higher and louder still keeping that confidence in her voice as she sings throughout the chorus after finishing the chorus the song takes a short instrumental break that lasts for about 9 seconds before we hear Ashley come in singing once again like she had before she with that deeper voice she keeps that confidence going though then the chorus comes in once again and we hear her sing that louder just like earlier as the beat intensifies once again after finishing the chorus for a second time the track beat get's a bit lower for the bridge she sings in that soft voice that we're use to usually hearing from her but haven't heard from her throughout the whole song she sings this part soft but not exactly high as the beat begins to build up it then stops and she holds the last note in that soft sweet voice for 3 seconds the beat then kicks back in but not fully for the chorus as Ashley continues singing she sings the chorus like before the beat then kicks in more and we hear Ashley really showing off her vocals now as she does the ad-libs for the chorus she sings a lot higher keeping that confidence going until the song finally comes to an end Ashley's comments So yeah here I am with my second single it's been a very crazy year for me releasing my debut single family things just a lot of stuff I know I've been really quiet and stuff but there have been some things that came up with my family and then other drama just a lot has been going on lately but I'm here now with another surprise single haha I realy hope that you guys like this track it can be about anything honestly the main meaning behind this song is about someone moving on and becoming a stronger person after something happened to them I wrote this song not long after StarFactory it just came to me really and I was looking through some tracks and decided I really wanted to record and release this as a single or something just get it out to you guys in a way because I felt like a lot of people needed to hear it I was so upset after being eliminated from StarFactory but after writing this I felt better and StarFactory did teach me so much I think I've grown since then I'd say I've become more confident than I was on there I've also learned how to control my nerves during a performance though I'm usually really nervous before performing I can just put it aside now and I'm stronger now hopefully I'll be able to release an album or an EP or something in 2014 anyway thank you for
