Vara scrunches her nose and shrugs. He was at least twenty-one then. She wouldn't have to worry about that. And it had been so long since she had spoken to somebody that wasn't famous or had some hand in the celebrity world. This was kind of nice - it could be better, but... nice, nonetheless. "She is awesome. Fucking horrible taste in relationship material, but awesome." She shakes her head, not sure why she just mentioned her distaste with Mariko's choices in girlfriends. Maybe she had had too much already. She didn't want to start unloading her problems on this guy anyway.

"Mariko doesn't date assholes, she dates bitches. Horrible, slutty bitches," Vara says back, rolling her eyes. She decided that ultimately this would probably be the only time she ever saw this guy, so it didn't really matter what she said to him. "And I don't know what type of guys I date. Just... guys, I guess. And girls, too." In fact, Vara knew exactly the type of people she dated: The type that would allow her to exercise whatever kind of vice she was deciding to exercise that week. She only dated people that wouldn't judge her on her excessive drug and alcohol use. Anybody else? They could go to hell.

Vara gives Chris a small laugh when he says that he liked his odds in dating her, and then rolls her eyes, still grinning. He was cute, but she had recently become not so much the "dating" type. Every since her and Trent broke up, she had mostly reverted to just sleeping around at an alarming rate. "Jealous? It's... complicated. I'm not jealous because I want to sleep with Mariko or anything like that. Like... I've slept with her before, and it was cool and everything, I just don't think this chick deserves her." She was about to add "I deserve Mariko," but she doesn't. She knew if she did, it would really only be for dramatic effect anyway. Dating Mariko would be awful. The most romantic she ever wanted to get with her was fuck-buddy.

Vara laughs again and shakes her head. "No, it's just... more complicated than just letting it happen, that's all I'm saying. We've been through too much together already. It's just not a relationship type deal." She finishes her cigarette and puts it out, shaking her head when he points to ask if she wants another drink. She was done drinking for the moment. This conversation was her new focus. "Yep. Single," she responses, looking out over the balcony at the night sky. "My boyfriend and I broke up a few months ago. It wasn't pretty. Want me to unload all of that baggage on you as well?" She smirks.

"I don't have problems," Vara says back quickly when Chris asks if he's been giving an option to listen to her problems. "Not anymore, at least. We had been dating for a while, he was a singer and a recovering drug addict. He relapsed, got better, and then..." Vara shrugs. She turns around, her back against the railing of the balcony, and hops up on it, sitting on the rails - the balancing her ass on the rail alone was hard enough with all the drinks that she had already consumed in the few hours she had been at the party. "He didn't really need me anymore after that, you know what I mean? He helped him through his recovery, I stuck by him, and when he knew that the possibility of him relapsing again was slim, he broke up with me." She shrugs again. It was a painful memory to think about, almost like she had been used for her love and affection to help him get through his drug addiction, but she was a strong believer in the fact that everything happened for a reason, and she wasn't going to let one bad breakup get her down on the entirety of dating.

Vara smirks again, rolling her eyes when Chris says that he's happy that she and Trent had broken up because that meant that now he had a chance at her. "So romantic," she says sarcastically, picking up her cup and handing it to him. "You know, maybe I will have that drink you offered."

"Romantic? No, I'm not that type of girl," Vara says back when Chris hands her her new drink, nodding him a thank you. She hated when people bought her flowers and chocolates. That just made her feel awkward. You could easily buy Vara's attraction, but not with little trinkets and sweets.

Vara laughs when Chris tells her that she can't respond with 'complicated.' That was going to be her answer. He knew her too well already. Or maybe she was just a predictable person. "I don't know what kind of girl I am. That's a really complex line of questioning. What kind of guy are you? Could you answer that question?"

Vara laughs. "Okay, yeah. I like... alcohol. And sex. And shopping, dancing, music... Stuff like that, I guess." Her life and personality seemed a lot more uninteresting when she condensed what she liked down in a list. "And I don't like bitches, losers, shitheads... You know, people who aren't worth the air they're breathing. I don't like them."

"Because if you're dancing correctly, it's like sex but without taking your clothes off," Vara says back simply, not needing to think too hard about what she likes about dancing. She thrived off of the sexual tension that formed when attractive women like herself danced. It was, if she were being honest, her absolute favorite thing.
