"Alright, Curtis," Zack said as he got back up stage. "Everyone give Curtis some love. We have more people coming to the stage. from someone that struggle with music portion to someone that had no problem with it. Lets take a look at our next Contestant coming to the stage from the Country's Capital Miss Valerie! PRE-SHOW VALERIE HUE There's a quick, raw shot of Valerie from the side as smiling sweetly at the camera crew before it flashes away, cutting to a clearer, much more focused shot of her from the front. There's a small pause before she starts speaking. "Hey, guys. I'm Valerie Hue, I'm nineteen years old, and I'm from the capital of the USA, Washington D.C."A picture of Valerie Hue with her family appears on the screen. There are three older brothers, an older woman - their mother - and then Valerie in the middle. "My dad left us when I was really young," she speaks while the image remains on the screen. "So it made my older brothers and I really close to my mom." The image changes to another picture of Valerie and her family during Christmas, probably only a couple years ago. Valerie looks roughly the same as she does now. She's opening a gift that's shaped like either a video game or a movie while her brothers do that same. Her mom looks on in joy. "My brothers were basically my best friends. We used to stay up all night playing video games together. That's how we bonded. In fact, my brother gave me my first drink after I had completed Oblivion. (she laughs)"The camera focuses back on Valerie. "I didn't really have an interest in music until my brothers went away to college. My mom was terrified that I would go into some sort of depression without them around, so she tried to find some to distract me. One day I came home from school, and there was a piano in the middle of the dining room. It used to be my mom's, and she had brought it out of storage for me." There's a couple quick shots of pictures of Valerie and her mother behind the piano in their messy dining room. "She wasn't a very good teacher. I know she won't mind me saying that. I mean, she was teaching me from memory, and she herself hadn't played in years! But when I was behind that piano, it just... you know, clicked. I had so much of my life trying to do everything that my brothers were doing that I never even took the time to figure out what my passion was!""The first time I performed for an audience, my family came to see me. The way that they looked at me afterwards... they were amazed, I think. I never thought I could love anything more than staying up late and gaming with my brothers, but... music is my true love. I know it. That's why Starfactory is so important to me. And that's why music is so important to me. It's something I'm good at and it's something I love, and it's something that I can do all on my own. And it's something my family is proud of me for. I want to make my family proud of me, and I want them to see how happy music makes me. I just... I love it."
Quote:"I was so excited to hear that the first week was going to be Evangeline Wolfe week. Evangeline's a huge inspiration of mine, I've loved her since the first time I heard Sadness is Sweet. She's who really got me into the folk and indie genre, which is the style of music I usually write. So to get her the first week and get to show off one of the stronger aspects of my music ability immediately was amazing. The song that I wrote for this week is called Answer Your Calls. One thing that I really love about Evangeline's music is that she always tries to tell a story with her songs, so I wanted to do the same with this. The song tells the story of a man and a woman together, but the man keeps lying and cheating on the woman. The woman, instead of leaving the man, chooses to believe that her man will change and accepts the lies as fact, even though she knows that they're not true. In the end, the man has run off and gotten married to another woman in Vegas, but he still visits his former girlfriend, convincing her that he still loves her. After all the pain and lies that the man has put this woman through, at the end of the song, she tells him that she still loves him, and that she'll still answer his calls - see, that's the name of the song - and that she'll lie to herself and tell herself that he's all her's while he cheats on his new wife with her. Throughout the song, I repeat the phrase "There but for the grace of God, go I," over and over again to show how much she believes that her man will really change eventually, by saying that if she were in the same situation, she probably would have done the same thing if it weren't for God watching over her. It's kind of sad, but you have a hard time feeling bad for the woman in the song, because she's choosing to make her life miserable. That's the kind of feelings that I want the audience to have tonight when they hear my song. Conflicted sympathy."
"Preforming her own song here is miss Hue!"  Valerie's name is announced as she enters the stage in a blackout. The lights come back up once she's hit her mark in the middle of the stage, microphone in hand. Valerie doesn't wear anything fancy or flashy, because she's not a fancy or flashy sort of girl. Cheers from the audience resonate louder when the lights come up and she's seen. Valerie can't help but grin. There's no nervousness in her appearance, but it is obvious that she's a rather shy girl off the stage. Valerie knows that she doesn't have a lot of time to compose herself before the music starts, so she takes a couple deep breaths. Off camera, somebody counts her off, and then she begins singing immediately as the music starts. A huge smile grows across her face as she does, seeing the audience's reaction to her voice, which is calming and wispy, almost like the type of singing voice you would imagine a small mythical creature - like a fairy - to have. The first line of her song seems to capture the audience immediately, causing her to grin even larger as she sings. There's a flow to Valerie's words as she sings them that is absolutely mesmerizing, and clearly displays her talents. I have been crazy

There but for the grace of God, go IValerie repeats the final line one more time, her voice steady and strong, receiving a huge reaction from the audience. Tonight, Valerie hadn't shown herself as a nineteen year old girl, but as an artist. The cameras show a shot of Valerie's mother and brothers cheering loudly for her, jumping up and down. Valerie smiles brightly at them, and then turns to the judges to hear what they have to say, hoping that her skills and potential shined through today. SOUNDS LIKE:
