Vanessa sighs as she hears the buzz for Jake to come up. She never knew how to classify them in her mind, and that made this pseudo-relationship exhausting for her. She did really like him. She hated to admit it, but she did. He was such a pretty boy, and it was so surprising to her that she could ever like somebody like him, but she did. Vanessa was going to get answers this time. Cherry Street was going to start working on their next album soon, and that was a time-consuming feat. If she didn't get clarification on their relationship soon, she wouldn't be getting it for a while. She was tired of her friends asking questions about them that she wasn't sure on the answers to. "Door's open," she says into the intercom as she buzzes Jake in. The apartment is still slightly mess from a party the girls had the night before, but Vanessa didn't care. She was just lucky that they had all agreed to leave for the night so she and Jake could be alone. Vanessa sits in the living room and waits, letting out a long sigh.

"Hey," Vanessa says back softly, a bit surprised by the kiss on the cheek. That was the most affection they had shown each other in weeks. "What've you been doing?" She asks, standing up from the living room chair, but then feeling awkward just standing there next to him. She forces the awkwardness out of her head and stands with her arms crossed in front of her chest.

"Oh my god," Vanessa says with a laugh as she takes the champagne and flowers from Jake and shakes her head. She was never the type of girl to give into gifts, but she was the type of girl to give into alcohol. "Here, let's open this..." She says, walking into the kitchen to get glasses. "We really haven't been doing much lately. We're about to start working on album two, so we're trying to get as much socializing in as possible before we do." She laughs and turns to Jake. "That's why I invited you over."

Vanessa grabs the cork screw out of the drawer and hands it to Jake as she listens to him speak. A lot of things that he was saying were surprising her, but she tried not to show it as she listened. She had learned that showing emotion made you vulnerable a long time ago, and she wasn't open to that yet - at least not with Jake. At first, she's a bit angry that Jake calls her his girlfriend without them talking about it first. She's about to argue with him about it, but then remembers that she wanted to be his girlfriend - there was no point in arguing with somebody after they gave you what you wanted. It just a bit of the old Vanessa coming out. "You're proud of me?" She asks, more surprised by that than anything else he says. She wasn't used to that. She especially wasn't used to people being proud to date her. Vanessa had never been the type of girl you were proud to take home to your mother. "Yeah, yeah... everything else is fine," she tells him, jumping up and sitting on the counter as she watches him. "No depression on your side either, right?" She gives him a small smile.

Vanessa's smile grows a little wider. This was new for her, having a guy that actually liked her rather than just liking her looks. "Thanks," is all she can say back, not wanting to go into the psychodrama that her past relationships have been just yet. She rests her elbows on her legs, wine glass in hand, and grins. "I had no intention of cooking for you... so if you have a plan, I'm all ears."

Jake!" She waves her hand, directing him over to her. "What the fuck are you doing here?"
