Artist: Anaísz
Label: FREEDOM Records
Release Date: December 25th, 2015
Genre: Pop, Electropop, Dancehall, EDM, Hip Hop
Wriers: Anaís Pasquez, Thalia Thomas, Ivy, Shellback, Jasper Moore, Talia Moore, Tiffany Mackenzie,
Producers: Dr. Luke, Cirkut, The Outsyders, Brandon Grey
Length: 17:32

4Corners is the first EP from Singer/Rapper Anaísz. The EP was released on Christmas day of 2015, by FREEDOM Records. The tracks were primarily composed by The Outsyders and Dr. Luke who also had their hand in producing a few tracks respectively. Pasquez co-wrote each song on 4Corners. Musically, it's comprised of mainly uptempo tracks with a few midtempo ones. The uptempo tracks are mainly Pop, Dancehall, and Hip Hop while the midtempo tracks are mostly EDM and electropop. Lyrically, it explores different genres and "4 corners" of Anaísz's style referring to her Feisty side, Vulnerable side, Ambitious side, and her Care-Free side.

So far, the ep has received generally positive reviews, with most critics praising Anaísz's catchy yet subtle lyrics and beats. Some suggest that it is a perfect balance to showcase her style and what she can bring to the industry, also what she can do to set herself apart, while others believe it is nothing more than a simple and generic ep with "a few good lines here or there." Upon it's release on Christmas morning, the EP debuted at #6 on the itunes Pop charts and #8 on the overall itunes charts.

The two singles released from the ep were "Better Days" and "Miss Me." The lead single, "Better Days" became an instant hit as it debuted in the top 5 on the charts and soon soared it's way to #1. The second single, "Miss Me" was released on Christmas Eve and saw a somewhat repeated success as it soared to the top 10 on the iTunes pop chart. Both singles were praised by critics for their simple yet catchy feel.

The ep started with "Ain't Nothing Wrong With Me" being written by the singer last year, when she was trying to break out into the industry. After she was signed, she quickly went to work on her ep, but she originally didn't want the song on the ep. However, after a few more months passed, the singer revisited the song and changed some of the lyrics. "The only thing the song didn't have was a hook, so I had this song that was kinda unfinished and I left it alone for a year and boom it came to me. I wrote it and then recorded the song but nobody thought it would fit on the ep so it was pushed to the side. A few months later, after the response from 'Better Days' they decided that 'hey this might be perfect!' and then they decided I should add it to the ep" Anaísz states, "And I'm so glad that I fought for the song because I think it's great!" The second song to be written and recorded for the ep was "Better Days" which Anaísz teamed up with The Outsyders to record. According to Pasquez, when she thinks of "Better Days" she thinks about the days she was begging labels to pay attention to her. "It honestly was about how hungry I was to get one foot in the door. I had to tell myself that it was going to be alright and that I was going to make it a lot of times, even when I didn't really know anymore. It's just a song of reflection that I look back at now and be like, 'I totally made it, ha!' and that's a relief for me." The ep was released only on iTunes and Spotify on Christmas morning.

Track 1: "Living"
Artist: Anaísz
Label: FREEDOM Records
Release Date: December 25th, 2015
Genre: Electropop
Written by: Anaís Pasquez, Thalia Thomas, Ivy
Produced by: Dr. Luke, Cirkut
Length: 3:48

Description
Kicking off the EP is the electropop, sugar coated track that is "Living." The only track on the EP where Anaísz focuses more on rapping and shows she has many hats. Throughout the track, you can hear her self-assurance and confident vocals that tell of a girl dreaming to make it and reach her goals in life. She tells a story of going from daydreaming about the good life to going in the second verse and achieving some of the much sought after fame. In the choruses, she chants, "You only live once" which a few years ago might have been the biggest motto at the time but instead of using it as just a quick attention grabber, she continues on by encouraging her listeners to "start living" mean to go after what they really want in life. The motivational track is nothing new but it's also a nice welcome message to hear. As far as the production, Anaísz relied on pop producers Dr. Luke and Cirkut for their digital disco-inspired beat.

[Verse 1]
No I'm not MLK but I had a dream
It involved you, me and the Caribbean
I never traveled outside of my street
I know it seems small but it means so much to me
Working myself to get things deprived
No Dominic or Hayden but I have arrived
I know it's only the first stop of my ride
Won't forget tonight

[Pre-Chorus]
Feels so amazing
Coming with guns blazing
There's not a chance that I'll waste this
This perfect moment
To do what I've wanted
To do for so long but couldn't pay the price

[Chorus]
You only live once
You only live once
You only live once
So start living
You only live once (We all should be chasing dreams)
You only live once (We're all just trying to survive)
You only live once (We all should be chasing dreams)
So start living

[Verse 2]
Some days I wake up and think it's not real
Some days I wake up and don't know what to feel
It's like trading in skates for a new big wheel
Some days I just don't even know how to deal
I still dream to shake hands with my inspirations (Hey!)
Take a plane to the east for vacation (Hey!)
I'm still earning my spots like dalmatians (Hey!)
And still learning to have a little patience (Hey!)
It's like having a new coat of paint
Or watching the start of the day
When you're blowing the candles off cake
Or you're first time jumping in that lake
I'll never ever forget
And remember where I came from
But I'm done with walking, time to run
Just know that I've only begun

[Pre-Chorus]
Feels so amazing
Coming with guns blazing
There's not a chance that I'll waste this
This perfect moment
To do what I've wanted
To do for so long but couldn't pay the price

[Chorus]
You only live once
You only live once
You only live once
So start living
You only live once (We all should be chasing dreams)
You only live once (We're all just trying to survive)
You only live once (We all should be chasing dreams)
So start living

[Bridge]
Life is only what you make it
Sometimes you have to go and take it
Don't spend all your time just waiting
Sometimes you have to go and take it
Life is only what you make it
Sometimes you have to go and take it (Ooh)
Don't spend all your time just waiting
Sometimes you have to go and take it

[Chorus]
You only live once
You only live once
You only live once
So start living
You only live once (We all should be chasing dreams)
You only live once (We're all just trying to survive)
You only live once (We all should be chasing dreams)
So start living

We all should be chasing dreams
We're all just trying to survive
We all should be chasing dreams
We're all just trying to survive

Track 2: "Miss Me"
Artist: Anaísz
Label: FREEDOM Records
Release Date: December 24th, 2015
Genre: Electropop, Hip Hop
Written by: Shellback, Anaís Pasquez
Produced by: Brandon Grey
Length: 3:32

Description
"Miss Me" is the second single released from Anaísz's debut EP, 4Corners. After the shocking instant success of her debut single, which was meant to be a buzz single, the young pop singer was shocked by the positive reaction. Written by Anaísz & Shellback, and produced by Brandon Grey, "Miss Me" is an electropop track with hip hop elements and a fun 90's backbeat. The lyrics show a fun yet tough attitude when it comes to dating. The playful lyrics make for a catchy track. It continues on with Anaísz rapping after the second verse, showing her versatility as a Pop artist. Joined by horns and trumpets, listeners are treated to the vocal stylings of Anaísz who sings with a soprano tone and bounces to the beat of her own drum. Lyrically, the song focuses on Anaísz trying to tell a guy what it takes to win her over. She croons in the first verse, "Sorry but your tricks and tales/Don't impress me much/Think you can just flash that smile/But boy that ain't enough". Each line's delivery is the just as lively as the instrumental playing underneath it. The beat slows down when she gets to the pre-chorus and she switches from her rap/sing style to singing in a breathy and baby style. During the rap verse, Anaísz shows off her slick lyrical skills as she continues to give the guy more advice on what it takes to get her attention. Suiting Anaísz's personality, the bubbly singer shares a laugh towards the end of the track and it fades out.

Sit back, and learn
Uh huh, Here we go

[Verse 1]
Look at you think you're big and bad
Can have any girl you'd like
Step to me like a real gentleman
Or you can kiss me goodbye
Sorry but your tricks and tales
Don't impress me much
Think you can just flash that smile
But boy that ain't enough

[Pre-Chorus]
So take my advice if you wanna know
What it takes to get me all alone
I'll tell you what these other girls won't, ooh

[Chorus]
You're gonna miss me
When I walk out and leave
You're gonna miss me
And the air that I breathe
But if you want her then you better miss me (go, go)
Miss me, boy
So you better miss me
With all of that drama
You better miss me
And go back to your mama
Cus if you want her then you better miss me (go, go)
Miss me boy

And that's the truth

[Verse 2]
Take two, now you got a little game
I guess you been taking notes
Never lacked with your courage
But now you got the right approach
Oh, doing good then you opened that mouth
And started spitting trash (Uh oh)
"When we gonna hang out again?"
You don't even need to ask

[Pre-Chorus]
So take my advice if you wanna know
What it takes to get me all alone
I'll tell you what these other girls won't (no they won't)

[Chorus]
You're gonna miss me
When I walk out and leave
You're gonna miss me
And the air that I breathe
But if you want her then you better miss me (go, go)
Miss me, boy (Whoa)
So you better miss me
With all of that drama
You better miss me
And go back to your mama
Cus if you want her then you better miss me (go, go)
Miss me boy

[Rap]
Now, have to break it down for the hearing impaired
But don't get it twisted, you don't need to be scared
Just take time with your skills and keep that 'tude in check
All a girl really wants is a little respect
Uh, it ain't a race but nice guys finish last
Best believe ain't nobody checking for a dude that's fast
Have some manners and some class
And you might get that as..k for your name and number, that's if you're a grad
Yes you gotta graduate from Anaísz101, come dressed to impress
If you wanna be my number one
So now you know what it takes
Do you think that you can hang, or try to write your name,
All across my heart before it's somebody elses to claim?
Do you see me in your future?
Will you get rid of them other dames?
Then you better miss me

Ye-eah

[Chorus]
You're gonna miss me
When I walk out and leave
You're gonna miss me
And the air that I breathe
But if you want her then you better miss me (go, go)
Miss me, boy
So you better miss me
With all of that drama (oh, yeah)
You better miss me
And go back to your mama
Cus if you want her then you better miss me (go, go)
Miss me boy

You're gonna miss me

But if you want her then you better miss me (go, go)
Miss me, boy

You better miss, you better miss, I said you better miss, miss me

Cus if you want her then you better miss me (go, go)
Miss me boy

Track 3: "Ain't Nothing Wrong With Me"
Artist: Anaísz
Label: FREEDOM Records
Release Date: December 25th, 2015
Genre: Pop
Written by: Anaís Pasquez
Produced by: Dr. Luke
Length: 3:22

Description
"Ain't Nothing Wrong With Me" is a Pop track which features production from Dr. Luke and the only track to be written solely by Anaísz. The beat can be described as a reggae-power pop tune but focuses more on the Pop side. There's a blend of live guitars and drums which loop throughout the song. It also has a mixture of jazzy guitars and a booming synth bassline which shows up around the hook. Lyrically, the song is the most care-free on the EP, talking mainly about wanting to, ironically, have a care-free night. The song begins with her making plans for the weekend after a stressful week. Nothing about the song suggests seriousness but instead more of playful Pop vibe. For the chorus, Anaísz belts out the catchy lines showing once again her vocal range as she pipes up that nothing is wrong with her. The track was initially meant for another artist but after consideration, Anaísz decided to keep the track as part of the EP, thinking it would fit perfectly with her introduction into the industry.

[Verse 1]
End of the week with nothing to eat
Guess I gotta order out again
Don't wanna be alone on a Friday night (No)
Let me call my friends

Been a really bad week,
But I know I'm gonna be fine
Tonight's the night all the stars will align
Yeah, you won't believe it
Taking over the whole city

Everything around me seems so chaotic
But I'll get through it, I promise
And then we walk right in, I hear my favorite song
Now there's only one thing to do
Now there's only one thing to do
Yeah I'm in my favorite mood

[Chorus]
And I sing, na-na-na, I feel alright
I've been knocked down once before
No this is not the end, I swear this ain't the end
Now you sing, na-na-na, I feel alright
And just repeat after me
Oh-oh-ohh, ain't nothing wrong with me
(Oh-oh-ohh, ain't nothing wrong with me)

[Verse 2]
A few hours just start to pass
Can't remember why I was down
Can't feel my feet, my song on repeat
I'm dancing to familiar sounds

I'm too young to have so much stress
But I'm gonna do what I do best
'Cause everybody's got some issues
But being sad ain't on the menu (Tonight)

Everything around me seems so chaotic
But I'll get through it, I promise
And as I walk right in, I hear my favorite song
Then I start to feel so alive
Then I start to feel so alive
Yeah tonight we're comin' alive

[Chorus]
And I sing, na-na-na, I feel alright
I've been knocked down once before
No this is not the end, I swear this ain't the end
Now you sing, na-na-na, I feel alright
And just repeat after me
Oh-oh-ohh, ain't nothing wrong with me
(Oh-oh-ohh, ain't nothing wrong with me)

[Bridge]
We've got the cure and the remedy (Remedy)
Just start playing that melody (Melody, yeah)
It's the best kind of therapy (Therapy)
And I'm gonna act like there's nothing wrong with me-e-e-e (Yeah, yeah, yeah)

[Chorus]
And I sing, na-na-na, I feel alright
I've been knocked down once before
No this is not the end, (n-n-n-o this is not the end) I swear this ain't the end (oooh yeah)
Now you sing, na-na-na, I feel alright
And just repeat after me
Oh-oh-ohh, ain't nothing wrong with me
(Oh-oh-ohh, ain't nothing wrong with me)
And I sing, na-na-na, I feel alright
I've been knocked down once before (Knocked down once before)
No this is not the end, (no this is not the end) I swear this ain't the end (I swear this ain't the end)
Now you sing, na-na-na, I feel alright
And just repeat after me (repeat after me)
Oh-oh-ohh, ain't nothing wrong with me
(Oh-oh-ohh, ain't nothing wrong with me)

Track 4: "Better Days"
Artist: Anaísz
Label: FREEDOM Records
Release Date: October 2nd, 2015
Genre: Dancehall, EDM, Pop
Written by: Jasper Moore, Talia Moore, Tiffany Mackenzie, Anaís Pasquez
Produced by: The Outsyders
Length: 3:32

Description
"Better Days" is the promotional single by up and coming artist, Anaísz. Anaís Lorena Pasquez was signed to FREEDOM records earlier this year by owner Nevaeh Martinez along with a few other artists. The 17 year old built up a small following through social media which allowed a somewhat small buzz of hype to reign over the internet as she prepped her debut single. Although it is only a promotional single, the singer announced it would be the debut to introduce herself to the world and all she can bring to the table. The track put up on iTunes for preorder and was released on October 2nd, 2015. It debuted at #80 on itunes overall and #63 on Pop. It has so far peaked at #35. The song itself is a mixture of dancehall and edm which was produced by The Outsyders and written by Anaís, Jasper Moore, Talia Moore, and Tiffany Mackenzie. The Outsyders are a fairly accomplished duo who have worked with Isabel on her last album and plenty other artists. They have a very recognizable sound, known mostly for their dancehall and EDM influences. The track is mostly midtempo with Moombahton influence as well, similar to Isabel's, "Bounce Back." It features chanting throughout the background of the chorus as she sings of seeing 'better days' eventually. Lyrically, the song focuses on a sort of 'awakening' of Anaís as she starts to hold her metaphorical and literal head up high to prepare herself for the good fortune she feels is coming to her. The song is all about being optimistic of the future. The lyrics mixed with Anaísz's almost ethereal like vocals make for a perfect combination. The song impacted radio's October 5th and there are rumors of a video being possibly filmed to assist the track.

[Verse 1]
Gray skies, they come and they go
But it's all eyes ahead of the road
Every time I've gotten so close, I've stumbled

I've hurt enough to know there must be something else for me
Not hurt enough to go numb or cancel out the sting
Even when I close my eyes it's always in my dreams
Sometimes it's not enough to just say that you believe

[Pre-Chorus]
And I pray for better days
And I can't wait to see change
Tear me down cus it's worth all the pain
In the end when I'm living better days

[Chorus]
Better days
(y-y-ye-e-eaah)
Better days
Better days
(y-y-ye-e-eaah)
I pray for better days

[Verse 2]
Bottled up my every thought until I made the moves
And now they get to be deciphered among the chosen few
All the bad and hurt are memories that I keep
Sometimes it's not enough to just say that you believe

[Pre-Chorus]
And I pray for better days
And I can't wait to see change
Tear me down cus it's worth all the pain
In the end when I'm living better days

[Chorus]
Better days
(y-y-ye-e-eaah)
Better days
Better days
(y-y-ye-e-eaah)
I pray for better days

(y-y-ye-e-eaah)
Better days
(y-y-ye-e-eaah)
Better days
(y-y-ye-e-eaah)
Better days
(y-y-ye-e-eaah)

I pray for better days

[Bridge]
We're living on borrowed time, don't know when it's taken back
Don't wanna waste it on you or waste it being sad
I've got too much potential to my name, potential to my name

[Pre-Chorus]
And I prayed for better days
And I can't wait to see change
Tear me down cus it's worth all the pain
In the end when I'm living better days

[Chorus]
Better days
(y-y-ye-e-eaah)
Better days
Better days
(y-y-ye-e-eaah)
I pray for better days

(y-y-ye-e-eaah)
Better days
(y-y-ye-e-eaah)
Better days
(y-y-ye-e-eaah)
Better days
(y-y-ye-e-eaah)

I pray for better days

Track 5: "Thing I Need"
Artist: Anaísz
Label: FREEDOM Records
Release Date: December 25th, 2015
Genre: Dancehall, Reggae, Pop
Written by: Anaís Pasquez, Jasper Moore, Talia Moore
Produced by: The Outsyders
Length: 3:15

Description
The final track to appear on the EP is the dancehall inspired "Thing I Need" which also shows off her Anaísz's ability to easily transition from singing to rapping. Lyrically, Anaísz talks about her love of dancing and only wanting "a beat on the floor" instead of a guy's love. In what seems like a song filled with double entendres, Anaísz assures the listener she is referencing music and the "vibration" of the loud beat. In the first verse, she assures that she's not stuck up, but rather she just wants to enjoy the innocence of music. She keeps the same attitude in the second verse which is the rap. She mentions her willingness to show a little attention to a guy but only if he can keep up with her dancing. Showing off her malleable vocals, she keeps a rather low tone throughout the song, but still showing off her feisty side. Production wise, the song is produced by The Outsyders who worked with her on the previous track, "Better Days" and features all the great elements of a dancehall and reggae track.

I said I don't need ya love, don't need ya love
Only thing I require, is a beat on the floor
I said I don't need ya love, don't need ya love
A hard pill to swallow when ya want something you can't have
I only need

ooo woo ooo woo
(I only need)
ooo woo ooo woo
(I only need)
There's one thing I need and boy you can't give it to me
(I only need)
ooo woo ooo woo
(I only need)
ooo woo ooo woo
I only need to feel the beat
And I don't really need you here standing with me

Before you get the idea that I'm egotistical
I know what I like and what I like you can't throw
So you can keep your money, you can keep all your compliments
I wake up every morning knowing damn well that I'm the s**t (hey)
I can build my own self up, ohh, ohh

But there is just one thing that makes me feel weak in my knees
And I know that you won't agree but I only want this, no attached strings
Ah, it's the only thing that's making me spin
Keeps me turnt up to a thousand

I said I don't need ya love, said I don't need ya love
Just wanna feel the vibration, The only thing that my body stays cravin'
I said that you keep ya love, you keep ya love
Just wanna feel the vibration, The only thing that my body stays cravin'

[Rap]
And it's the greatest feelin'
Whether you're relaxed, feet up and you're chillin'
Or you out with your girls at the club, hittin' every block on a night in the town
But if you change my song things might start to get ugly
Now before you approach me, you might get lucky
I might save you a dance if you can keep up with me
My sounds on repeat, that's my favorite song to sing
Who can handle, who can handle, who can handle that?
I like my nights long, and my beats fat
Skin tight jeans, denim, and a fitted cap
Now who can handle, who can handle, who can handle that?

This type of feeling is all I've ever known
I like the feel of the rush through my bones
You think you can do better but you won't
You're going home alone
Yeah I know, sorry to disappoint, the only thing I wanna feel is the noise
I said I don't really need ya love, I don't really need ya love

I said I don't need ya love, (don't need ya love) said I don't need ya love (heey)
Just wanna feel the vibration, The only thing that my body stays cravin'
I said that you keep ya love, (hey, he-ey) you keep ya love
Just wanna feel the vibration, The only thing that my body stays cravin'

(I only need)
ooo woo ooo woo
(I only need)
There's one thing I need and boy you can't give it to me
(I only need)
ooo woo ooo woo
(I only need)
ooo woo ooo woo
I only need to feel the beat
And I don't really need you here standing with me

Ahhoooooh!

Carmen: Wooooo nobody is coming close to this slayage yas you know this is the way the year needs to end with this perfect little EP let me let me take a second to talk about these tracks first I am LIVING for "Living" oh my god you know that song snatched everything and right out the gates like that? It needs to be a single in the future I swear then we have "Miss Me" so full of sass yet still cute AF I don't know how you managed that but good job there then there's "Ain't Nothing Wrong With Me" which is another perfect little bop like how do you stay writing these bops? Idk the world may never know it's fun and cute and inspiring and I love it and speaking of inspiring you had "Better Days" follow that and just picked up whoever was feeling down before because that song was is and will always be perfect and finally you end it with "Thing I Need" AND BY THIS TIME MY ENTIRE HEAD IS SNATCHED AND I AM ON ME KNEES PRAISING THE LORD BECAUSE THIS EP IS BETTER THAN SOME ALBUMS RELEASED THIS YEAR INCLUDING MINE! And I think we need to celebrate the fact that you just slayed not only the industry but the entire year of 2015 great job mama

Chris: See my question is why was better days the one that was release as the single. Granted it was a number 1 hit but there could have been 2 more she could have released to make number 1s and that is scary.

Jake: You know what my question is, is she going to be the next pop queen after Isabel

Chris: Blasphemy We do not use Queen Isabel name in vain!

Sarah: Can we put Anaisz in the same sentence?

Chris:..... The Counsel has spoken and we will allow this but first she must do battle with princess hart to prove who is most worthy.

Jake: Let me guess a mud wrastling.

Chris: Oh that is a much better idea I was thinking more gladiator combat with Isabel being King Cesar role.

Anaísz: It was sooooo hard picking a single and to narrow it down to 5 songs but I personally think any of them could've been the one, you know? Thank you guys, and don't worry, I plan on making my own path in the industry. No offense to Izzy but I'm not trying to be like her or anyone else! How many Anaísz's you know? Exactly :P

Erica: izzy wouldn't sing songs about vibrators. And for that, anaisz gets my money this week. But I will say this little girl needs to get her fast lil ass to a boys and girls club. At 17 she has no Business tackling songs like some of these.

Nina: when did you get old and stodgy?!

Erica:whatever do you mean?

Nina:what were you doing at 17,love? Don't answer,I was there!

Erica:.*thinks for a moment* see? That's what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to help.

Nina: but the overall bit is adorable, right? Vibrators aside.

Erica: well of course. We are all just vibrating away, till we find better days.

Anaísz: The song isn't about a vibrator, omg lol. They are all really harmless songs but thanks for the love :P I'm definitely using that as a tagline for my EP, "We are all just vibrating away, till we find better days." What a flawless description.

CosmaMendoza: This is such a cute EP, I can't right now! Your music is a blessing for my ears. It's cute, fresh and catchy. The lyrics is well done and the production is good too. I feel like, this is a amazing start to show the world who you are. Five Stars from me boo

Lincoln: I love this EP so much! I got it when it came out because I loved your first single. I think that Living is my favourite song on it but all of them are fun. I like a lot of rap stuff but it always has too many nasty swears in it. Yours doesn't though and that's super cool :))

OOC: I know I'm late on this but wanted to make sure I had enough time to actually read over all of these recent RPs. Been busy with a lot of my own stuff and didn't want to just post a "good work :)" comment lol. I think that Anaísz is slowly becoming one of my favourite characters of yours and not just because I feel like a boss after learning I was always pronouncing her name right ;) I think rap and pop can be the hardest genres to write for so to combine them and pull it off can only be commended. It manages to showcase Anaísz's skills as a rapper while also containing elements of a radio friendly pop/electropop EP from a pop star in the making. Great work on it all :)
