I agree. I think it would be fun to incorporate all the elements of being in a band into the game. And yet, this is easy for me to say. I don't have the slightest idea how to program this kind of thing. But, it would be cool if there were things you could do that didn't require points, so that you could really waste some time on here! The labels and touring with other bands seems to be well established. Here are some other things to consider: Such as:
1) Interviews, Reviews, and Write Ups in General: Start with Blogs and Zines, and work your way up to NME, Rolling Stone, Mojo, Major Newspapers
2) Hire representation: Managers, Tour Managers, Publicists, Booking Agents etc...
3) Court radio stations for airplay and tv channels for videoplay
4) Arrange radio interviews and live radio / tv performances - start with small time cable access and move to BBC, or NBC / ABC / CBS in the states.
5) Buy and Sell Merch: T-Shirts, Records / CD's, Buttons / Pins, Stickers
6) Hire crew: roadies, drivers, techs
7) Deal with issues that come up: canceled gigs, dishonest promoters who don't pay you, band mates in rehab, overdoses, bad press, arrests, sex scandals and the like.
If Carl was to do them we'll probably end up waiting ano
Ok, the reality is that that is not going to happen but if it were to happen
Lets not get so technical with the game either with #7. It's just a game. We don't want it too easy but we don't want to it too hard either. One because we would have to be really involved in the game to play it correctly if it were that technical. It might as well become virtual (which would suck). There is something about cheap 3-D graphics that turn me off when it comes to video games.
The other features shouldn't hurt though. Also the ability to release EP's, Compilations. Demos
*(For labels to sign you), Live Albums, Longer track-listings, Double Disc albums.
Genre Charts shouldn't hurt either but we need more users.
*Demos would be a great way to show you worked your way up in the music industry. Making a demo should take some time, meaning using a lot of points, and while making that demo your ability in writing, and everything goes up as well. Demos should not be for released but songs from it can be used for your future albums if you'd like.
Also, It would be awesome if you could use your money to release music videos, and market them. And what basically it does it works for promotion.
Also it would be great if it would be harder to earn money while going on tour.
I just list theses ideas for the hell of it, I still love the game the way it is but these features would make love the game even more.
