anyone with a brain knows the entertainment industry has sold out. the fact that you led off attacking that argument tells me you're a moron. industry formulas have been widely discussed by both entertainment and business insiders. even "motown records" back in the good old days used formulas.

people buy garbage music, because they are uneducated, and unwilling to listen to anything that might take a few listens to fully appreciate. they want crap that sounds just like the stuff they heard last week, and thats exactly what the big labels provide.

No, see, the reason I attacked that line is because it's fucking stupid. See, the record industry always has and always will be about making money, because the major record labels are all publically owned companies and have a legal obligation to make money for their shareholders. You can't sell out to the man when you are the man and have been the man ever since the idea of a record industry first crept into existence about 100 years ago. I don't deny that labels pandered to the lowest common denominator but then hey, I don't buy from the big 4 major labels in my own little meaningless protest about that fact (and how they treat their artists and many other issues), though my meaningless protest is at least slightly more meaningful than you ranting incoherently on the internet about this fact.

The fact is that what other people buy doesn't have any fucking effect on me. So unless you are my friend and I am light-heartedly taking the piss out of your taste of music, ultimately what you listen to doesn't bother me. Sure, I want to see bands I like able to make a living from their music and so I evangelise for them, but I don't feel the inclination to run about crying because major labels sell shitty music. It doesn't bother me, I'm perfectly capable of getting my music from indie labels such as Hydra Head, Ipecac, Candlelight, & various others.

So actually if anybody has to be the moron here I think it's you because I never even argued about "industry formulas", I simply argued that stating that "the man" sold out is laughable.

Speaking of what pop stands for, in general, these discussions are referring to the type of music known as "pop" not what it may or may not stand for. Weather it stands for popular or not, they were talking of the genre of music known as pop such as Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Madonna, and other such whores. ;)

See I was not trying to argue at first and then we did so I had to had a little fun with him. I mean he started calling me ugly thinking I was some obese 19 year old who eats all day, when I'm really not. And then he started offending Gay people and sorry once you go there you got me.
