Jack: Looking forward to finally getting to see the show. Couldn't make it out there live but now that we're on the same label I'm hoping Head South will hook me up for tickets next time you're on tour. Fuck it, if you ever need a rough around the edges singer for a duet or a guitar slinger to fill in for a song or two onstage, give us a shout!

Sigrún: (smiling) "No, this is my first time. But I must say, I really like what I’ve seen of Helsinki so far. It's quite charming, in a frosty sort of way."

[Cut to Sigrún walking through the streets of Helsinki, the camera capturing the serene beauty of the city. She pauses occasionally to take in the sights, her breath visible in the cold air.]


Interviewer (off-screen):You come from Iceland, a country known for its unique culture and music scene. Do you see any connections between Icelandic and Finnish cultures?

Sigrún: (Smiling, her breath forming small clouds) Absolutely. Both Iceland and Finland have this deep connection with nature, and it reflects in our art and music. There's a certain melancholic beauty, a sense of isolation and introspection, that permeates both cultures. It's like we're kindred spirits, shaped by the harsh yet beautiful landscapes we come from.

Sigrún:(smiling) Couldn’t be more appropriate, right? An album about winter, and my label sends me to Helsinki in February. They have a wicked sense of humor. (Laughing)

Interviewer: Your album "We Were Born in Our Homes and We'll Die Here" has been awarded Album of the Year at the UMAs. How does it feel to be starting your tour here in Helsinki?

Sigrún: (chuckling) It feels surreal, honestly. Helsinki is beautiful, even more so in winter. There’s something poetic about starting here with all this snow around. It’s like the perfect background for my music.

**Chapter Two: Are You living or Dead? - Live in Prague**

Interviewer: yeah! How are you feeling?

Sigrún: (smiling) Oh, I’m beyond excited. This city is absolutely stunning. It feels like walking through a fairy tale. The architecture, the history, it's all so magical. I’ve always wanted to visit, and now performing here.

It features several fascinating places like the sculpture of St. Wenceslas riding an upside-down horse, a shopping area, cafés, and a movie theater, which is one of the oldest continuously operating cinemas in Europe. Franz Kafka probably came here to watch movies.

Sigrún: (eyes wide) Wow, that's incredible! It really feels like a voyage through History. I love this alley inside the building.

Interviewer: The Great Hall was initially designed to be a hockey arena, but it was converted into a concert hall. That's why you're here tonight.

Sigrún: (smiling) In another life, I should have been a hockey player to come here! (laughter)

Interviewer: (chuckles) You could have been here for a movie, too!

Sigrún: (laughs) Or having a drink at the café.

Interviewer: Actually, there's a private bar hidden in the basement, but it's only for the use of the owners and their friends.

Sigrún: No, really?? This place is full of secrets! (contemplating the architecture again) It's so full of character and charm.

Sigrún: (nervous laughter) My instinct tells me to say no to that question...

Interviewer: One year after the Soviet invasion, the Beach Boys performed here. They received an incredible welcome from an audience eager for freedom.

Sigrún: (astonished) Wow! This building is full of stories.

Interviewer: And artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Tina Turner, and Lou Reed have all performed here.

Sigrún: (impressed) I knew I didn't want to know... (laughs)

Interviewer: Let’s talk about the second song on your album, "Are You Living or Dead?" Can you share a bit about its background?

Sigrún: (nods) Sure. Icelandic winters are long and dark, and they’ve given rise to endless tales of ghosts. During those dark times, ghosts were believed to follow every step of the living. People lived scattered across isolated farms or fishing villages, enveloped by thick darkness.

Interviewer: (laughs) Sounds like there's always a ghost at every street corner in Iceland.

Sigrún: (seriously) Oh, there are several ghosts at every street corner. (smiling) I truly believe in that. The title actually comes from an ancient Icelandic greeting. When there was a knock at the door, or if you met someone in the dark, people would say, "Are you living or dead?" You could never be sure if the visitor was a ghost or not.

[The interviewer looks intrigued, nodding thoughtfully as they continue exploring the venue.]

Interviewer: That’s fascinating. It adds such depth to the song. It’s not just about the supernatural but also about the isolation and the mystery of the human experience in those harsh conditions.

Sigrún: Exactly. It’s a way of connecting to our past, our folklore, and the things that shape our identity. Performing this song here, in a place with so much history and character, feels very fitting.

[The scene now transitions to the evening. The venue is packed, and the audience waits in anticipation. At the first notes of "Are You Living or Dead?" , the screen transitions from black and white top a colorized rendition, focusing on Sigrún's performance.]

**Chapter Three: Nornadans - Live in Barcelona**

[The phrase is whispered in Old Norse, carrying an almost shamanic cadence through the venue. The air feels charged with something otherworldly as the words, that Can bé translates by "Call the Norns, seek their blessing!" echo softly, repeating in Sigrún’s tender tone.

Gradually, the stage is illuminated by a warm, amber light. Sigrún stands barefoot on an Icelandic-patterned rug, her slender figure framed against the intimate glow, her blonde hair catching the light like a halo. Her band surrounds her: a drummer, two percussionists with tablas and Indian bells, a violinist, a bassist, and a keyboardist. A vibraphone sits at the edge of the stage, its delicate tones shimmering in the background.

The first notes of "Nornadans" rise. It's a captivating mix of Icelandic folklore and oriental influences. The tabla and Indian bells add a meditative rhythm while lush strings make a sinuous melody, reminding of classic Egyptian film soundtracks.
